What are you listening to?

I gotta get some Lead Into Gold…does it sound anything like Pink Anvil? I know it was Barker’s thing before Ministry.

no, it’s different

nope, very different from Pink Anvil. It was done from 87-90, and definitly has a Land of Rape and Honey feel to it on some tracks…more of the electronic side. Not many guitars on either album. Great stuff, I really like it.

well i like only faster than light track. i find the rest is too boring to my taste.

1.) Ministry - Animositisomina

(Just realized how much “Broken” kicks ass. The vocals turned me off at first, but damn what an incredible track. Almost borders on goth metal with the atmospherics at parts. Keyboards on this song are genius. All other songs rule except for “Unsong” and “Piss”)

2.) Black Dice - Beaches And Canyons

(The innovation on this album is unreal and it is a work of almost unparalleled beauty and originality. The things these guys do with the human voice…
Basically serene nature-soundscape-noise-rock if that makes sense…Heard they have another album coming out soon)

3.) Skinny Puppy - The Process

(Put this one off until recently because it got such bad reviews and found myself stunned that anyone could dislike this. A masterpiece, despite the two blunders “Candle” and “Morter”. This music is a perfect fusion of electronic and rock music for the most part…so much so that it challenges Ministry’s best material in my opinion.)

4.) Legendary Pink Dots - Crushed Velvet Apocalypse

Classic.

5.) Skinny Puppy/Genesis P.Orridge - Puppy Gristle

(Genius 40 minute noise jam between the industrial giants.)

6.) New Fantomas Record

(I found myself dumfounded and am still challenged by this one…)

7.) Wolf Eyes - Dread, Dead Hills, Slicer, Burned Mind

(Damnnit I need more of these guys! Been trying to get the old self titled and can’t wait for a new record!!)

yea, i agree. that’s a great record.

KHANATE - Capture & Release
SWORD - Lord By Fire
HARLOTS - The Woman You Saw Is The Great City That Rules Over The Kings Of The Earth
PITCH SHIFTER - Desensitized

megadeth—all of the remasters

Alright, I know I’m lame, feel free to flame me all you want, but here’s what’s on my MP3 player right now (it’s got a gig of storage) -
DAVID BOWIE - various selections from the SOUND & VISION boxset
PINK FLOYD - ANIMALS (and some live stuff from that era)
THERION - CROWNING OF ATLANTIS (yeah, I know. Just hush.)
MINDLESS SELF INDULGENCE / MC CHRIS - They’ll both be back next month (they were just here, like, three weeks ago), so I’ve gotta prep for the screaming at the stage.
MINISTRY - a selection of my favorite 12" mixes over the years (some actually ripped from my vinyl collection), and…don’t laugh…about half of WITH SYMPATHY.
DANE COOK - HARMFUL IF SWALLOWED - right in the middle of my music is the first cd of this comic genius. Good stuff for my bike rides.
After that there are random tracks by RASPUTINA, the 28 DAYS LATER and SILENT HILL 4 o.s.t.'s, APOCALYPTICA, BT, some stuff from the buffy musical…stop it!, DEEP FOREST, DEPECHE MODE, DZIHAN & KAMIEN (good, trippy electro-jazz), FROU FROU, old GARY NUMAN, KIDNEY THIEVES, MIRANDA SEX GARDEN, ORBITAL, PUBLIC ENEMY, REVCO, SAUL WILLIAMS - I really recommend him, it’s militant “thought” rap with industrial (if that even means anything anymore) beats. Check out “List of Demands” to see what I mean.
SERART (the System side project), TATU (teenage russians screeching is HOT, okay?) and some YOKO KANNO from the MACROSS PLUS o.s.t.
Before you go and bomb my house, please realize this is just what’s on my player TODAY, it’s liable to change at any moment. I just love music, and that’s why I’m here, to discuss quality music (such as MINISTRY, which should always be in CAPS).
I have realized from reading these boards, though, that I must check out some Wolf Eyes. I’d never heard of them, but it sounds like I’d dig it.

MC CHRIS is fucking awesome!!!

“Candle” and “Morter” are the two blunders? Really? I love them both. If anything “Cult” (ugh) and “Curcible” are where they fucked it up.

WHAT!!! Not liking “Cult” is understandable…it took me awhile to get over the bizarre vocals on that one (plus the fact that it’s an obvious love song and is probly the most “goth” thing they ever did)…but you don’t like “Curcible”?!?

You should try listening to it again the whole way through…the main riff seems awkward at first, as do the vocals, but once that incredible bridge kicks in its like a fucking revelation…truly one of the most sublime musical realms i’ve ever entered. The way that percussion just seems to stutter and implode on itself as the song builds and builds…the intensity is incredible…and god the keyboards are brilliant. Plus lyrically Ogre delves into the heart of what the Process was all about…

“This is the guide to save your soul”
“Kill the faith inside of you”
