What are you listening to right now?

steely dan live…the 2008 tour

Im listening to the new Enslaved album that leaked recently. Great band.

Just bought a fuckload of records. Listening to some TKK; about to throw on some Faust and Prong as well.

Hell yes.

Listening to the Rude Awakening remixes disc right now. Good stuff.

[reply]Red Sparowes - At the Soundless Dawn, Every Red Heart Shines Toward the Red Sun, Aphorisms.

I enjoy Red Sparowes music a lot, however, live - very boring. But with that sort of music, what can you expect?
[/reply]

I saw them live a few years ago in a small enclosed pool hall/bar and it was quite good live. I can understand tho, I might not enjoy it with a lot of distractions…

Seen Isis a couple times now too, and I find they are good live, but i’ve been told ‘they are boring live’ all the same. I don’t know what some people want - I don’t need ppl jumping all over anymore… must be getting old.

Tim Alexander is da man!!!

MEGA FUGGIN DEVASTATING!!!

Say i know brain played with JKB - but didnt one of they peeps play in a Death metal band or sumthin? Was it Ler???

A glass of coke and crow to the radge who can come up with the answer.

Brain played on ‘Songs of Love and Hate’ and Larry played in Possessed (I believe it was).

iPod’s on shuffle.
In the last half hour I’ve heard The Cure, Kate Bush, RevCo, Musica Reservata of London, Brighter Death Now, Christ On Parade, and Walter Carlos.

scott walker. relentlessly. i suggested years ago to some friends, some of whom are here , that the lyrics to his songs that aren’t covers, seem like they’re written by somebody who doesn’t speak english.that’s what’s so awesome about that guy. over dramatic, overly involved in his own deal----oh. i’m having a gay moment again. godammit. i’m gay. pull out the rifles.

Listening to “TNT” by Tortoise right now. That album’s an evergreen for me.

But also, i’ve been beginning my obsession with Primus. Always heard of them and about them, but never sat and really listened to much of the material until now - Pork Soda is great!

I think “Sailing the Seas of Cheese” is their definitive album. After that “Misc. Debris,” "Pork Soda, Then, “Frizzle Fry,” then “Tales from the Punchbowl.” and after that take your pick! Primus is a fantastic band. I have to agree though that after Tales they lost their edge.
Late,
grmpysmrf

just got in the mail:
scorn- vae solis
justin broadrick’s on this one too. it’s actually the side a (or b is it? ) napalm death lineup here. very very good. this is right along the lines of streetcleaner. justin is doing some great things on guitar here. if you’re a streetcleaner era godflesh fan, it’s a crime you don’t own this!

yes ‘A-side’ Line-up of Napalm Death: JKB, Nik Bullen & Mick Harris. Nik’s on the next 2 Scorn lps actually, then he’s out.
and more GF-related trivia, Paul Neville (GF/Cable Regime) toured with Scorn on their 2nd album. James Plotkin (OLD) plays guitar on their 3rd release as well.

sailing the seas of cheese. good one.
having worked in the music industry for almost 25 years, i feel like somebody who works in a bakery. you REALLY get tired of everything.i used to buy only gregorian chants. and then i got obsessed with the bad sound quality of those.
give me some hope, man.

listening: Atavist/Nadja II: Points At Infinity.

Currently digging
Black Dice - Load Blown
John Carpenter - Christine Soundtrack

Nailbomb: “Point Blank/Proud to Commit Commerial Suicide”

TKK: “Confessions of a Knife”

I’m REALLY digging “Waiting for Mommie” these days. Freud would’ve loved me.

don’t start with the james brown.
sacred territory.too many fros to deal with, goddamit.

OLD - Formula

[:)]

Oh, that’s a great album, sounds like a weirder more electronic version of Godflesh’s Pure. I’m betting lots of people on this forum would go crazy over it- super hard to find tho’. I think it was deleted by Earache!

I really dig Plotkin’s work, especially The Joy Of Disease and all of the Khanate stuff (…for those NOT in the know, OLD was made up of James Plotkin and Alan Dubin who were one half of Khanate).

I can’t recommend Formula highly enough. A shame that most people will never get the chance to hear it as it’s really one of a kind. Jesu fans will love it paricularly.

Personally I’ve been listening to:

Mayhem - Deathcrush e.p
Shinjuku Thief - The Witch Haven
Goblin - Tenebre: Original Soundtrack Recording
Autechre - Draft 7:30
Xasthur - Subliminal Genocide

Ooooh Goblin’s Tenebre soundtrack is some of their best work imo
