Right now, it’s both Nailbomb and the financial aid office unable to explain how they clearly fucked up my registration.
It’s gonna be a big week.

Godflesh: “Pure”, “Slavestate”
River Runs Red - Life of Agony
Bile - Technowhore
SYL - The New Black
Nine Inch Nails.
Their amazing live show the other night has inspired me to revisit their backcatalogue.
Chris Cornell’s version of Billie Jean.
I heard Kind Diamond’s “Sleepless Nights” on XM not too long ago, so I’m bumpin’ the “Abigail” album at the mo.
scott walker. always, for some stupid reason.
and a little t.rex .dirty sweet.
Who Killed Amanda Palmer by Amanda Palmer. Solo album by the singer/pianist of the Dresden Dolls. Solo album is great, but sounds too much like her band than an actual solo project. I’d recommend this album any day.
That’s out?
Sweet.
Red Sparowes - At the Soundless Dawn, Every Red Heart Shines Toward the Red Sun, Aphorisms.
just in the mood today for them.
That’s out?
Sweet.
Not necessarily “out”, but it’s “out there” and around. When it does come out, i’ll probably be throwing cash her way. It’s a pretty good album.
But also, i’ve been beginning my obsession with Primus. Always heard of them and about them, but never sat and really listened to much of the material until now - Pork Soda is great! Also back into my depeche phase, got the remastered versions of Music for the Masses, Ultra, SOFAD, and a couple more of the early-early ones. And i’ve been listening to godflesh a bit lately too.
Primus is a fine fine band. I was gonna recoommend where to start but, i kinda drew blanks… basically they’re all very very good cds… if you’re gonna go with solo les… start with holy mackeral… it’s one of those front to back track after track of good stuff… after that with the frog brigade it gets more jam bandy… but if that’s your thing, then hey go for the jamband stuff first… primus had a greatest hits called “they can’t all be zingers” with packaging to make it look like a thing of cheese… you can always go for that and nit pick your fav tracks and associate them with albums and go buy them…
but my error here may be stating to buy the music… you may be one of those downloading types…
Actually bought pork soda but yet to buy the rest. Downloaded some though. One of which he plays the entire animals album by pink floyd, which is very interesting. Even have versions of Shine On You Crazy Diamond and Have a Cigar. For some reason, Claypool is one of the last i’d imagine to cover pink floyd.
the primus version of ‘have a cigar’ from the miscellanous debris EP is awesome. ditto their version of ‘intruder’ by peter gabriel.
As a ‘casual’ fan, the GH is actually solid enough for me- but I have the brown lp and cheese on cassette to go with the EP on cd.
Neurosis - A Sun That Never Sets
OLD - Formula
Napalm Death - Fear, Emptiness, Despair
Emilie Autumn
Red Sparowes - At the Soundless Dawn, Every Red Heart Shines Toward the Red Sun, Aphorisms.
Saw them live at a free outdoor street festival here in Chicago a few weeks ago. Them and Isis, Polvo and a few other bands (the people who organize this event do a great job and have had acts like High on Fire over too).
I enjoy Red Sparowes music a lot, however, live - very boring. But with that sort of music, what can you expect?
If you like Red Sparowes, check out Tristeza, if you haven’t already. I enjoy their albums ‘Spine & Sensory’ as well as ‘A Colores’ quite a bit.
just got in the mail:
scorn- colossus
pretty cool. I see it as a cross between pure/streetcleaner era godflesh, with leanings toward techno animal’s “ghosts” thrown in as well, but it has it’s own sound too. its my 2nd full length scorn, the first being stealth. have a few more on the way, can’t wait, and loving the evolution of the sound…
I threw on Kraftwerk’s Trans Europe Express the other day, for the first time in a long time. “The Hall Of Mirrors” has been on repeat ever since…great, great tune. Started getting back into my LPD collection, too, namely Hallway Of The Gods and the Canta Mientras Puedas compilation, the latter being a very good sampler for LPD newcomers.
