Untold - Luna (L)
Iggy Pop - Preliminaries
i like listening to the german versions of kraftwerk more than the english. except for tour de france. so no, i can’t say “man machine”.
They’re one of bands where lyrics are probably the very last thing to worry about. It’s cool that there’s english versions of their discography, but i’ll always stick with the originals. Buying it mainly for the music anyway.
Diamanda Galas/John Paul Jones
Johnny Cash
Undead Viking Mafia (a local band I’ve been working on remixes for)
Spring Heel Jack
Winterkalte
i speak german. kraftwerk sounds better auf deutsche.it’s their native tongue and resonates in the native tongue.
back to smokey robinson and mj.
All the Filth Pig singles and B-sides.

Been listening to THIS under-appreciated little gem from the early 80s.
Why more people don’t get this album is beyond me as it’s one of his best hands down.
Lots of KJ
Killing Joke - Blood On Your Hands, Song and Dance, Sanity, Eighties
Neubauten - Headcleaner
Lots of scraping lots of bashing, just the way I likes it.
Clutch - Strange Cousins From the West
merricks model.
Angels of Light: ‘We Are Him’
I prefer Swans though.
Social Distortion - White Light White Heat White Trash
Their version of Under My Thumb is better than Ministry’s, but both are totally unnecessary.
i must agree with skarekroe.
under my thumb was just about the dumbest choice for a tune to cover. same goes for lay lady lay(re: ministry’s version). and the most interesting thing about that cover was eddie vedder doing vocals on it at bridge school benefit.
covers can be better than, but for fuck’s sake, pick a song that’s worthy and malleable.

I WANNA DIVORCE!!!
Edit: the bass line and the solo towards the end more than make up for anything else that anyone could remotely pretend was wrong with that cover… which there isn’t!!!

I don’t have a problem with “Lay Lady Lay”. I remember that at the time we all thought it was a bizarre inclusion, better suited for Revolting Cocks, but in retrospect I think maybe it was a sincere expression of the emotional pain Al was going through at the time his marriage was falling apart. I think that makes it a better performance than the parodic covers on the Cover Up album.
Social D’s “Under My Thumb,” btw, is only better insofar as it’s less jokey than Ministry’s. WLWHWT would still be a better album without it.

doesn’t al say that it was paul’s idea for Lay Lady Lay.
Really?
Well, bang goes that theory.

No it was the complete opposite. Al deliberately picked that cover and Paul wanted nothing to do with it. I can’t say I blame him…
EDIT: This thread inspired me to listen to Magazine “The Light Pours Out of Me” and honestly wtf was the point of Ministry during that cover? Their version is dead on exactly the same thing except for the screams at the end.
‘The Light Pours Out Of Me’ was a fairly pointless cover, the same cannot be said for ‘Lay Lady Lay’. It’s a great cover in my humble opinion. Maybe cos I didn’t give a shit about the original version. Or maybe that its just a great cover.
I didn’t even know it was a cover for the longest time. Same with Lay Lady Lay.
