king smurf.
lay lady lay was an afterthought by the THEN camp.
light pours out of me went much deeper.
(porno soundtracks come to mind).
lay lady lay was 100 % al’s decision, at the expense of being alienated by everyone.
he currently tries to divorce himself from bad choices and guess what. that shit don’t fly.
al was at the height of his detachment at the time. being in that state, he doesn’t now, nor ever will recall anything related. to the production of that song.
i wish al well.
shit still don’t fly.
I’ve figured it out! Special Ed, you’re Phildo aren’t you!!
no.
i’ve never been a beggar, and unfortunately for that guy, he is.
‘The Light Pours Out Of Me’ was a fairly pointless cover, the same cannot be said for ‘Lay Lady Lay’. It’s a great cover in my humble opinion. Maybe cos I didn’t give a shit about the original version. Or maybe that its just a great cover.
preach on brother mick!

Anyway… Currently spinning nasty, evil stuff. Lots of Halo, as per usual. “Streetcleaner” has been on heavy rotation lately. Digging a lot of Christdriver and Klute as well.
Also… Whitehouse’s “Heads You Lose” is my fucking theme song for the next few days.
On a completely unrelated note, I love taking long abscences frob the board and coming back to 500+ posts.
Leaves me all warm and fuzzy and such.
The Light Pours Out Of Me was indeed shit-tacular! If that one was Skinny Paul’s idea, then -1 for him in the credibility stakes.
Currently listening to:
King Crimson - The Power To Believe
Death In June - Brown Book
Vinterriket - Eiswielicht
Acid Mothers Temple - Dark Side Of The Black Moon
GY!BE: ‘Lift Your Skinny Fists…’
A wonderful album. A league above most of the other “post-rock shoegaze” instrumental stuff around the past few years.
I’m going to see Magazine here in Edinburgh on August 30th. Will be a banger.
Anything project pitchfork but mainly the new CD" Dream, Tiresias!". Good stuff!
Joy Division
Someone I know had the nerve a few days ago to tell me she thinks they suck. Nothing could’ve offended me more. Made me realize that it had been awhile since I gave them a listen, so I immediately put on Unknown Pleasures. How they could be so amazing, but New Order not so much…is puzzling.
Also, i’ve had Streetcleaner and Slavestate by you-know-who. Along with Sundown/Sunrise and Pale Sketches, yet again, by another same-you-know-who.
That infinity album won’t come soon enough, heh.
KMFDM - Naive TKK Remix
Melvins/fantomas new years freakout
Metallica!!!
HAH! That’s EXACTLY what I’m spinning.
Paradise Lost - Gothic
My Dying Bride - Turn Loose The Swans
Curve
Nadja - Clinging to the Edge of the Sky & Belles Betes
Our Lady Peace - Burn Burn
Fishbone
Paradise Lost - Gothic
You’re Goddamned right.

Doesn’t quite live up to “Shades of God” (which, to dip into the Toot’s vernacular, is one of the most DEVASTATING metal records on the planet), but it’s a damn good disc.
My only issue with it: why the fuck was it rereleased with the B-sides from “Lost Paradise”?
Total Science “Advance”
Smith & Mighty “Walk On By” 12"
Pangaea “Memories”
And a shitload of Rhythm & Sound 10"s & 12"s I scored the other day…awesome Berlin Dub.
