Have you seen the Sparks documentary yet, lowelly?

No. Gotta get on that, I heard it’s good…

It’s really good…I feel it’s one that would be entertaining to even the casual fan or maybe even non-fans to some extent…some real cool people in it talking about Sparks and lots of great rare footage etc… Definitely would recommend it

Also watched the Life of Agony doc that was really fucking good…

DAVE GROHL’s New Metal Album…DREAM WIDOW

Cold is really good so far.

The whole fucking thing is incredible. I had to pick my jaw up off the floor. I would have had no idea who this was if Grohl hadn’t opened his gob…

Now the drummer is dead…ugh!

Yeah I don’t know much about the Foo Fighters but that guy always seemed to have such boundless energy and enthusiasm for music whenever I saw him doing stuff…50 way too young… sad…

That is a foo fighters album or a side peoject.

I just learned about it a couple weeks back but, as I understand, the Foo Fighters made a goofy horror/comedy movie with some director. It’s some heavy metal themed film about a band whose music releases a demon or some such silly trope/cliche (I honestly lost all interest as soon as I read the synopsis). Anyway, if I recall correctly, they did an album of music for the film AS the band from the film. So, it’s an album BY the Foo Fighters, but completely different in style, so it’s not done under the Foo Fighters’ name.

I like Grohl. I think he’s super talented and has a great attitude and heart. I’m completely apathetic to most of his music. I actually liked the Probot project from about 20 years back, but am not sharing in the collective boner for his latest Dream Widow jibber jabber. It’s good enough for it’s original purpose of providing music from a fictionalized version of his band, but it’s all a bit cliche and eye-rolling to me. Props to him for doing it and having fun, but I think a lot of people are disproportionately slobbering on his knob just because they did not know Grohl was capable.

Like when a special ed kid rides a skateboard or makes an oil painting that’s not terrible. We’re impressed and proud of his accomplishments, but if you don’t put “done by the mentally challenged kid” on the placard or YouTube description, people probably won’t be mistaking his talents for Tony Hawk or DaVinci.

This is exactly me. I like Grohl and the press he gets for the shit he does, like that drum battle he had with that little girl during lockdown and pulling fans up on stage to play along. I like that he at least has the sense to stay humble in front of the camera and the fact that it appears he has not forgotten what it’s like to be a fan. I absolutely LOVE Everlong. Filter’s “Where Do We Go From Here?” and Foo Fighters’ “Everlong” have battled it out for the last 20 years for #1 all time song for me… But the rest of Grohl’s catalog is so very “Meh.” But the guy seems so very down to earth and cool and fun (like his covers of other songs, Like “Stay,” and realizing teen spirit copies that Rick Astly song’s rhythm and totally owning it. Having him sing on stage ) he seems like he would be a fun dude to hang out with. So, that being said, I wouldn’t mind going to a concert. I think he would put on a good show and it would be a good a great time even if the songs are “meh.”

Sad news about Taylor Hawkins… Yes, the Foo Fighters’ output is indeed a mixed bag, but they’re still lovable charatchers, as others have pointed out. One simply does not want to think badly of them if they release a crap album or ten. I do occasionally still spin “Color and the shape”, “One By One” and “Echoes, silence, patience & grace” - Those are pretty solid albums. And their videos is almost always good for a hearty laugh even if the song in question isn’t to one’s liking.

That Astley clip is funny, and dude actually still sounds really good. I agree that a FF concert would be fun regardless. It just always seems like a big party with good vibes.

I saw the Foos at Jones Beach before COVID. One of the most fun shows I’ve ever been to. Grohl’s enthusiasm is incredibly infectious. He brought out John Travolta to play a medley of songs off of “Grease.”

Foos Headlined Saturday night at Hangout Fest in 2011. Cee Lo Green didn’t show up for his day set, so the FFs came out unannounced and played an all covers set. Then they played their headline show that night. I doubt I would have gone to see the FFs any time after the 90’s but I’m really glad I got to see them (twice in one day) at this festival and it was a fun time.

Also got to see Motorhead since they were touring with them at the time.
