Thanks! I honestly didn’t circle back yet to see who the singing bassist was, but he was the guy who was really hitting me the hardest. All three dudes were fucking apex predators on stage, but that bass/vocalist was just killin’ me! So good!
And yeah, I didn’t know a lot about Procol Harem, but whenever they come up when I’m rolling with some old British heaviness it’s been really good shit.
Bridge of Sighs(his 2nd album) is kind of considered his masterpiece and deservedly so but the first album(Twice Removed from Yesterday) is just as good, imo… And the third one(For Earth Below) is a slight notch down but excellent as well…he did some great stuff with Jack Bruce as well…
He will definitely be missed. Of all of his albums/collections, I think I like “Arkology” the most, although the “I Am The Upsetter” box set is also a piece of work.
I’m not a fan of newer Maiden…the last few and this one have similarities. After a few listens, this one might be the better one in recent years. I didn’t give book of souls a true shot and I need to listen to it again. I know Gunnar was all over that one.
They are dragging parts out on this one and sometimes it works but most of the time not so much. Metallica comes to mind…BS filler! Of course it’s all about the drive, build & feel. This isn’t YES.

Somewhere & Seventh, I kinda group together. I like them both but when they first came out…most Maiden fans weren’t really liking it (keyboards mostly). I really enjoyed somewhere upon its release but 7th, I first didn’t give it a chance but months later did enjoy that one. Once the next 2 releases (No Pray & Fear), came around, I was like …well Somewhere & 7th weren’t so bad.
Iron Maiden started the downhill slide the moment they decided silly keyboards were needed after plastering “No synthesizers or ulterior motives” on the cover of Piece of Mind. Somewhere and Seventh have their moments but that was the end for me.
Brave New World was a good effort. That was the last cd I’ve listened too many times. There are also a few tunes from 2003-2016 that stand out but the releases as a whole…meh.
“Originally this was recorded on two reels of Ampex 456 2” Tape on two Studer A800 Mk III Multitrack Tape Machines, synched via SMPTE at Studio X, Seattle in the fall of 1994.
In 2007 the original tapes were “baked” in order to play them one last time before utter tape deterioration set in, the tape machines were fired up yet once again and both tapes were recorded (and thus digitized) into Protools, perfectly synched via SMPTE.
Finally, after unearthing the believed-to-be-lost session files in early 2021, it was mixed yet one more time. We did not manipulate anything at all on a digital level, there was no “Auto-tuning” applied, we didn’t move things around, did not replace any of the original sounds, no “corrections” of any kind were made, all we did was mix it “with fresh ears”. Fresh as a daisy, for your listening pleasure, here comes a total recall of one of KMFDM’s all-time faves. Enjoy !"
