NICE!!! That’s a magazine or an online thing?
I saw some architectural article recently that showed Elfman’s mansion and it’s pretty much exactly as you imagine it would be, haha! So rad.
Its online…stereogum.com
Every month they do a spotlight on a particular artist …its basically an overview of their work and then an interview…
I gotta see his mansion now…haha…usually I wouldn’t give a shit about something like that but he is an exception…sounds like its the same as that tour of Ronnie James Duo’s hone that is on YouTube…his house is EXACTLY as you would envision it…
Yeah, haha! Very similar, although that video tour had the extra plus of Dio giving the tour himself and getting all excited talking and playing with his prized toys, haha!
I honestly cannot remember for sure if it was video or just a still pics/written article, but it didn’t have much, if any, Danny. I kinda think they were selling it a few years back and we’re including most of the furnishings and accessories. Would take a very specific buyer, haha! I’ll see if I can find something about it…
I love the '70s

Celtic Frost-Into the Pandemonium
I was on vacation last week in Wyoming and the only radio station that I was sometimes able to get to tune in had all these old 70’s country hits, and the country band in The Million Dollar Cowboy Bar that I visited was playing a similar playlist. I love that shit, and I’m still stuck in that mode, so . . .

The Fixx…nice!
Shuttered Room and Reach the Beach were the only 2 I had heard previously…gob a check out their others today…solid new wave shit
The Fixx are one of those bands that you never really think of specifically, but as soon as you hear one of their hits it’s really iconic and memorable. I love that sound they got. It’s really full but also very clean and fluid. “Red Skies” and “Saved By Zero” come on a lot on my wife’s car and I’m always stoked. They’re rad songs for driving at night especially, hahaha.
Reach the Beach is one of my favorite mainstream releases from the 80’s.
Yeah no doubt…remember the heavy rotation those songs were on in the early days of MTV…seems like they showed those vids all the time and I never got tired of them…
Rev- yeah dude,Reach the Beach is an awesome record…really enjoyed hearing it for the first time in quite a while…
My parents never had cable so my MTV exposure was super limited for most of my life. And by the time I finally got cable as an adult MTV was phasing out music completely, haha! But I loved all that shit on the radio.
A bit more just straight forward rock and roll, but another band of the era that is overlooked but consistently clocks in hard is THE ALARM. I recommend anyon that’s forgotten them do a revisit to their catalog too.
I love the FIXX and love the Alarm. The Alarm (like REM) went downhill fast after Strength (1985). But damn they were great up until then. Playing acoustic guitars distorted like an electric guitar i thought was so cool. I had that San Diego concert i had recorded off MTV on VHS that I watched over and over and over again. Good times.
I don’t know the details of their timeline / catalog, but I THINK they may have had a few brighter spots late in their career too. I used to work with a Scottish business partner and when I’d travel around with him in the UK, he’d play all this stuff in his car that was kinda forgotten/ overlooked in the US but he was obsessed with. Mostly regional bands. The Alarm was his favorite and I was really surprised to hear more recent stuff (this all took place around 2006-2010) and I went out and bought a few CDs after that, but I don’t remember the names or years of them. I was just really impressed with how consistently good the stuff was.
Okay, I just scrolled through cover pics looking for the recent Alarm disc I really liked. UNDER ATTACK (2006).
I’m guessing there’s some licensing stuff hiding most tracks from YouTube, but this one gives a good example of what drew me back in.
Queensryche…first six releases. Anything after Promise Land sucks!
