I never heard Promised Land( or anything after it except for Mindcrime 2 which was a huge disappointment)…love all the stuff up to Empire though…
You can skip Promised Land… As much as I like Empire, that’s how much I dislike Promised Land. I think “I am I” was ok as a single, but it wore out quickly, like a couple of listens quickly, and “Bridge” was absolutely horrific… It wanted to be “Cat’s In The Cradle” so badly but missed by a mile. I think “Lady Jane” is the only redeemable song off that record.
One could probably get away with never owning/listening anything after Empire. Even their unplugged set was cringeworthy (save for Scarborough Fair, which isn’t even their song, smh)

Queensryche was good up through Empire. After that the band seemed to step on a banana peel and never recovered.

The year from hell continues… We had 7-8 inches of rain in about 5 hours a few days ago. It was raining so hard I couldn’t see the house across this street at times. I suppose I should consider myself lucky I only had minor flooding unlike some other folks who are in a world of hurt. I didn’t lose anything that can’t be replaced fortunately. I’m still pretty unhappy about the whole situation.

I’ve never heard Beck’s version, but “Tough Fucking Shit” is a cover of an old GG ALLIN song which is a cover (words changed) of a Nancy Sinatra song called “Sorry 'Bout That”.
EDIT: I just looked up the Beck version. I like it. It’s raw and redneck but actually done at about 1/2 the speed of GG’s. I like all three versions, haha!
