What are you listening to right now?

Ooof, I don’t think you wanna use record sales for separating the men from the boys… It’s The Beatles that have almost 50 more million records sold than Elvis… (27 million more in fact- 27 is closer to 50 than it is to 0)

The Beatles 183 Mil
Garth Brooks 156 Mil
Elvis Presley 146.5 Mil
Eagles 120 Mil
Led Zeppelin 111.5 Mil

You want some bullshit though, The Eagles AND Garth Brooks have more than Zeppelin. Fuckin’ bullshit.

Brooks and Eagles are quality music. You seem to be playing favorites. Your fav isn’t out selling these guys so the argument is discredited? lol. That’s not how it works.

now youre changing your argument.

Nothing in their about “Quality music.” Besides, Garth Brooks is NOT quality music, and I’d argue the Eagles only had 1 quality song…Hotel. “Life In The Fast Lane” is dumb as shit. Tequila Sunrise boring. “One Of These Nights” coma inducing.

My preference (The Beatles) over Elvis is destroying everyone so, ya know there’s that, but I wouldn’t say they were my favorite.

I appreciate your input man but you’re not being impartial. Your arguments boil down to personal preference.

Isn’t that what all this is anyway?

That’s what you’re doing by trashing the Beatles. When they are smashing Elvis.

That was in regards to their live performances. Elvis takes a dump directly in their mouths. The Beatles are better in studio than Elvis ill give them that.

Fans of both would say the same if theyre being impartial. Elvis came alive on stage Beatles were more at home in the studio. So while that may be an opinion its also fairly agreed on

Cause of his hip swivel and his curled lip? I don’t see anything special about either of their performances (Beatles and Elvis). Give me some KISS and Motley Crue fireworks any day… Hell, I’ll take Iron Maiden’s blow up Doll balloons, too. I’m sure would have something to say about Alice Cooper’s stage presence as well.

It’s much more than his flamboyance its also his delivery the man can sing much better than that pasty melon head Paul. Also more charismatic than the Beatles. Listen to any of the live stuff he’s cracking jokes, telling stories making an entire stadium crack up. Find that on a Beatles Live album it’s few and far between

I haven’t found anything on google about respective ticket sales… So, I couldn’t tell ya’
From Quora:

Tina Turner holds the world record for concert ticket sales sold by a solo artist according to the Guinness Book of Records, and of course she always plays with a backing band.

If you also factor in all the people who bought tickets to see her when she was the star attraction in Ike Turner’s Kings of Rhythm (starting way back in 1957) followed by the Ike & Tina Revue before she split with Ike and went solo and then consider all the people who have seen her performing live with other artist’s - i.e. David Bowie,Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger,Bryan Adams,Chuck Berry,Beyonce,Barry White,Cher, Elton John,Rod Stewart,Eros Ramazotti, Marvin Gaye,Eric Clapton,Phil Collins,Mark Knopfler,Tom Jones,Dionne Warwick,Bruce Willis and gawd alone knows who else, I think it’s a pretty safe bet to state that more people have seen Tina Turner live than any other artist in the entire history of Rock Music.

Personal opinion. 27 million more record sales says no. I can’t find the ticket sales number for either so there’s no way to definitively say Elvis had more ticket sales. He certaily starred on more shitty movies, so I there’s that.

James Hetfield does the same. He’s awesome!

Maybe it’s edited out for time.

McDonald’s sells a lot of burgers, doesn’t make it quality food.

lmao didn’t Beyonce do something similar a while ago

“Without Elvis, there would be no Beatles” - John Lennon

How many people cover songs better than the originals?

Guns N’ Roses - Knocking On Heaven’s Door
Hendrix - All Along The Watchtower
Rage Against The Machine - Maggies Farm
Rage Against The Machine - Ghost Of Tom Joad
Neurosis - Saturday Night Holocaust
UB40 - Red Red Wine
Urge Overkill - Girl, You’ll Be A Woman Soon.
Concrete Blonde - Everybody Knows (only applies to the 120 minutes acoustic performance)

That’s just off the top of my head. Just cause you’re the first doesn’t mean you’re the best. But that’s not my stance anyway… My stance has just been that Elvis’ image/legend has become so clown like I’m not interested in seeking shit out on my own.

LOL Rage’s covers are shit and this is coming from a huge RATM fan. Elvis has a slew of great covers as well, in fact, he is the KING OF COVERS. That was a really idiotic argument to bring up seeing as Elvis made his name off covers.

Blue Suede Shoes
Mystery Train
That’s Alright
Blue Moon of Kentucky
It Hurts Me
Lawdy Miss Clawdy
Polk Salad Annie
Promised Land

the list goes on

No way. Tom Joad and Maggies Farm are stellar.

Weren’t you suggesting that Elvis is better because he was first with that quote? and now you’re making the exact argument i did to denounce my argument that you just used… I feel like I’m trapped in an MC Escher painting.
Look, man, I appreciate your passion on this but it’s really a non issue for me. I’m just posting to be a fly in the ointment. Although I do stand by my covers assessment. but I really have no opinion of Elvis’ skills cause I’m not privy to them and really don’t care if I am or not.

You’re twisting words. He was the first. He popularized rock n roll, covering songs that weren’t originally his doesn’t discredit his work. Carl Perkins the writer of Blue Suede Shoes was a corny ass nobody, now that jam is synonymous with Elvis

RATMs Tom Joad cover is not better than the original lol. You’re not supposed to drink the bong water, guy. I’m still a little stunned by that one

Totally is. That’s not to say Springsteens is shit, it’s nice in a hopeless desperation kinda way. But Rage’s is much better in expressing the anger and frustration that comes from people in these situations. I prefer Rage’s

I don’t smoke weed or drink bong water
