I’ve only listened a little bit to Elvis when I was a little kid but i never was impressed with him. I’m not much of a Beatles or Elvis fan but if I had to pick I’d say Beatles because I know more songs and they are catchier than Elvis songs. I think the only Elvis songs I really know are Blue Suede Shoes and Nothing But A Hound Dog both of which are pretty stupid and boring. I’m sure I may know a couple more songs too but the fact that I can’t think of what they are kinda shows how memorable they are to me. LOL
the first 2 Das EFX albums
I grew up in Memphis, TN. He was part of our culture. I was born in 1969 so I lived it. I’ve got a few random stories. One time my dad and I we’re sitting at a light and he pulled up next to us on his motorcycle. Everyone waived. My dad and I had tickets to his concert coming up in Memphis before he died. My dad got refunds on those tickets I believe- sure would be cool to have those tickets. My mom lives one street over from the house he was in before Graceland. Just constant little shit like that.
The man’s not even trying here and he’s still over as fuck. A supernova of charisma the likes I’ve never seen. Makes The Beatles look like geeks
He sounds good but I don’t know about all of the above.
You underestimate the magnetism. Pick up a few Live albums of his, I guarantee your Beatles records will collect dust for a few months!
Deep Purple “Man Alive” - From the New album “Whoosh!”
I don’t own any Beatles records. My wife does but I skip over ‘em. I wouldn’t call them rock records or blues either. Theyre just pure pop and in all honesty I prefer Oasis’ Beatles rip off songs to the actual Beatles songs. Probably because for me there is some actual rock in their songs but whatever different argument that I really don’t feel like having.
It’s kinda hard for me to take Elvis seriously. He seems like such a caricature of a cartoon rebel rock n roller. I guess it’s sad to say but Danzig is really my first real introduction to Elvis music. I just didn’t/don’t have any desire to really dive in. The stigma around him and his legend has become such a joke that I’m just not interested.
That video you posted was good and certainly not anything like what I assume him to be but his charisma doesn’t work on me. Kinda like Bill Clinton. I know people who have met him and swear by him and basically came under his spell immediately upon meeting him. I know a lady who didn’t like him at all and then met him in person and basically fawns over him and has for 20+ years now, but there’s a whole faction of people who hate him and have met him and hate him more after meeting him, and still others who don’t care one way or another and don’t know what the love/hate fuss is all about. nor do they care. Can’t explain how or why he’s such a charismatic person … All that just to say Charisma works on some and not others… I guess I’m immune to the Elvis charisma.
I will admit the video you posted was good but not good enough for me to seek out anymore. Danzig’s covers are great but not great enough for me to seek out the originals. It’s just me. He’s not really on my radar.
Listening to a Buddhist Monk cover Ramones Teenage Lobotomy, Queen We Will Rock You, Beatles Yellow Submarine.

I’m not an Elvis superfan I’ve known a few, but I like a lot of his music. Years ago I worked with a woman, never spoke to her, but it was said when she was 13 she dated Elvis, he told her they would get married, she appeared on a TV show talking about him and has photos, they were together a week.
That’s because hes been parodied to death for decades. Now think about that for a second, the man was original and flamboyant so much so that he ended up being the caricature of a rock star. Essentially HE CARICATURED HIMSELF he was so magnetic. Now bands like The Beatles look like robots stiff as a motherfucker, their live performances don’t even compare to Elvis’s
Like DJ said hes the OG. He popularized rock n roll and his music is timeless. Long after we’re gone his music will still be popular.
Oh, yeah, totally right. I didn’t say it was his fault. His image is just so saturated, that I’m not interested. I’m not taking anything away from him as a composer or an entertainer or anything like that (especially since I really know nothing of his catalog). The advertising around him and the parodies of him just really turn me off, and like I said the 2 songs that I know, Hound Dog and Blue Suede shoes (oh, yeah, Heartbreak Hotel) Are just really boring to me and even worse whenever I think of those songs the people in the audience screaming over them is just unbearable. (usually when I hear those songs its from live show archives for commercials to buy his stuff or whatever)
Meh, You’re probably right. I don’t go in for Beatles live shows either, though, but at least with the Beatles shows the crowd screaming doesn’t drown out the music which, in my opinion, is catchier. Could be because Elvis is more country music too and that’s really not my thing. Social Distortion and some scattered Johnny Cash songs are about as close to country music as I get.
Well, I definitely understand his importance but, again, I’m more interested in the people he’s inspired than him, probably because of the image that has been crafted of him. Kinda like Eddie Van Halen, I’m not a fan, but I respect his technical ability to play the guitar. He brought two hand tapping to metal, but his songs don’t do anything for me, but when Kirk Hammet or Dave Mustaine two hand taps there’s something there.
You want to post some more Youtube vids of him, have at it. I’ll check 'em out but I’m just not motivated to search him out on my own
I know this is a Ministry board, so we’re all a bunch of weirdos, but I’m still surprised by this Elvis worship. For me, Elvis is some farty old shit my grandparents would listen to. Don’t care for his music, and don’t care about his place in music history.
It’s weird to recognize Elvis for the mega star he was? lol ok. Hes like 3rd in the all time record sales
Record sales do not equal quality. Britney Spears sold a lot of albums too.
They do when you’re talking top 10 all time. That’s when you start to see the men separate from the boys. Elvis has a full 100 million more records sold than Britneys 50 mil.

Me too…hehe
You don’t have to like Elvis but if you can’t even recognize his place is rock n roll history you’re not being intellectually honest and your opinion carries very little weight.
You’re doing your argument no favors. Elvis had a 40 year head start and Brittany is already 1/2 way caught up? I guess we’ll see.
This is my perspective as well BUT the Video that XtRa posted was pretty good (can’t deny that), Danzig’s covers are good, and I do recognize what he did for rock n roll, but this image is probably another reason I never was interested in him. (My grandparents were into Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash too… Only some Johnny carried over)
Actually she sold 34 million. And there’s no chance in hell she makes up the extra 100+ million lmao.
