Criminally so.
I friggin’ LOVE Dada.

And I think the intro title track is one of the few truly scary pieces of music made. I adore it.

Yeah that opener is spooky shit…the songs are just so damn good on Dada…Ezrin’s production really benefits such songs also…

Wasn’t crazy about the one track I heard(with Gira’s wife singing on it)…but look forward to hearing the rest…Swans always delivers for me…

So far I’m liking it, but I hope he goes in a vastly different direction now that he’s ending this iteration of the band.

Yeah,I read that he wants to make it more of a revolving door type collective…sort of what it has always been in a way…I will always be interested in what Gira has to offer…

Alice Cooper-Special Forces

One of my favorites. I wish I could go back in time and catch that tour. It’s an era Alice doesn’t like to talk about or revisit and he never plays any of the songs from that time (“Special Forces”, “Dada”, “Zipper Catches Skin”) . . . but, man, the songs on those albums are so rad.

I’m VERY glad he got cleaned up and is healthy and at peace with his life and super successful . . . but I also have a real fondness for him at the bottom of his based-out decrepit worst. So gutter. It’s just . . . . beautiful and magical.

He still plays “Clones” from time to time.

Yeah I agree…isn’t Dada(prob my fave of that era)the last record he did before getting sober? I really like that period from 1980-83…got a bad rap at the time but has attained a certain cult status with the passing of time…I would love to hear some of that shit live…

Pass the gun around…ahhhhhhh

Yeah, it was “Special Forces”, “Zipper Catches Skin”, and “Dada”. And I think “Forces” is the only one he toured for, so I’m thinking the tracks on “Zipper” and “Dada” may NEVER have been played live. I’d have to do some checking to be sure.

“Dada” was in '83 and then he came back again RADICALLY different with “Constrictor”, which I suppose some will likely see as the death knell for Alice’s real avante garde and boundary pushing career.

I have my preferences and favorites, but even the late 80’s “buttrock” is pretty damn great in my opinion. I tend to avoid a lot of the “hits” though, as I think the gems on many of his albums tend to be hidden and glossed over.

Seeing Alice again in August, by the way. Can’t wait.

Yeah,AC’s “buttrock” era is my least favorite era for sure but I still can get in to it…better than a lot of crap from that time…

It’s a shame some of that stuff from Dada never got played…it’s such a “lost” album…some of that shit could have been so cool to hear live in the right setting…I love looking at the Dada album in dim lighting …the head just looks like a scary zombie skull head…god damn,I love everything about that record…even Flush the Fashion, man…I really dig that period of Alice…

The buttrock albums have some real gems, but there’s also some semi-cringeworthy tracks mixed in too. I use the “skip” button rather liberally when spinning those.

I feel like it was Trash were he went full buttrock…Constrictor was the beginning of it but not to such an extent…

“Trash” is one of, if not the, most UNlistened to albums in my Cooper collection. And I’m not just rebelling against its mainstream accessibility or popularity either. “Poison” is actually a great track.

“Constrictor” is a weird one. There are some cool songs but there are some others that just make you wonder if he really had quit freebasing . . . . “Thrill My Gorilla”??? Seriously, Alice?

“Raise Your Fist And Yell” (coming around 1987, I think – right before “Trash”) is actually pretty cool. It has some of my favorite tracks, including “Roses on White Lace” and “Prince of Darkness”.

So, yeah, I’ll agree with “Trash” as the buttrock epitome, hahaha!!! I used to think “Hey Stoopid” was the barrel bottom because I REALLY hated that dumb title track and always thought “Feed My Frankenstein” was a bit of a cheeselog too . . . . but that one also has some really cool stuff (again, the deep cuts) as well.

(“Hey Stoopid” is also my LEAST favorite album art. It’s . . . . uggh. Just gross.)

I love that song! Alice with Slash, you can go wrong with that pairing [:)]
