I’ve never heard of this one.
List some of the bands.
Is it any good?

I know, I think, four of these bands (not counting the Shatner novelty thing). Pentagram is Pentagram. Bloody Hammers is pretty good, I’ve heard of Ulver but I couldn’t tell you what they sound like, and I think I’ve got Witch Mountain on a compilation that came with a magazine I bought recently.
Disc 1
- “Into The Void” - CANCER BATS
- “Dirty Women” - MOS GENERATOR
- “Changes” - BLOODY HAMMERS
- “The Warning” - WO FAT
- “The Writ” - STONED JESUS
- “Hole In The Sky” - SCORPION Child
- “Hand Of Doom” - DEATH HAWKS
Disc 2
- “Lady Evil” - HOUSE OF BROKEN PROMISES
- “Planet Caravan” - MACHUCA
- “Sleeping Village” - WITCH MOUNTAIN
- “Electric Funeral” - SOLACE
- “Solitude” - ULVER
- “After Forever” - PENTAGRAM
- “Sweet Leaf” - WEEDPECKER
- “Paranoid” - GOLDEN VOID
- “Iron Man” - William Shatner feat. Zakk Wylde & Mike Inez

Yeah, I know Shatner and crew, of course, and Pentagram. Other than that, I’ve heard OF Witch Mountain and Cancer Bats but don’t know a damn thing of either.
Cancer Bats opened at the last Danzig show Grumpy and I went to. A couple friends of mine kept telling me, “Dude, do NOT miss Cancer Bats! They’re awesome! Whatever you do, make sure you check them out!!!”
And I was like, “No.”

Ulver seems like an odd man out here. Being they are founded by guys in the ‘romantic Satanist’ vein, they’re probably not offended by indulgent drug use.
But on the other hand, all the interviews I’ve read with them make me think that they would see “stoner rock” as a label that is beneath them. See for example the conversation printed in Lords of Chaos, where they sneer at the origins of black metal (e.g. ‘beer drinking’ rabble who listen to Venom)
That Ulver cover was initially released on their War of the Roses album…

The concept of “Romantic Satanists” thinking that the label of “Stoner Rock” is beneath them is too ironic for me to calculate.

Ha ha I forgot about that. Yeah they sounded generic in every way… at least as much as we would hear from the lobby and the smoking patio.

Ah, so it’s like when Faith No More and 1000 Homo DJs were one the '90s Sabbath tribute with songs that were already years old?

Actually I recall now that it is on the Shadows of the Sun album and not War of Roses but yes I guess that is the case here…Shadows came out in 2007 and this Sab comp came out last year apparently…

Why the Hell would I give up our spot? We had everything! Our own table/booth with comfy sofas in a beautiful patio deck, bar service, hot chicks, perfect weather
