What are you listening to right now?

That Ulver cover was initially released on their Shadows of the Sun album…

Fixed it for you.

Revolting Cocks - Big Sexy Land

Blood Ceremony - Lords of Misrule

vocalist: “You wanna hear our version of a party song?”

audience: (confused mix of hoots and "no"s)

vocalist: "for all of you sayin’ no, well how ‘bout this - we’re gonna take you all on a lil’ trip to a land called…

[url https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukjnrXTTvPY]…HOOGIE BOOGIE LAND."

I’ve played this slow-motion car wreck of a song so many times the last few days, I think that I may have opened the secret portal to Hoogie Boogie Land, where the mystical Sparky reigns in benevolence and everything is grand.

Seriously, click on that link. It will restore your faith in human culture’s limitless capacity to just get weirder and weirder.

Killus - Ultrazobies 2016
Killus - Feel the monster 2013
Black/Rosie - Playin’ ac/dc 2015

Tomasz, thank you for inviting me to Hoogie-Boogie Land where there is no war or hate.

Hoogie-boogie land, hoogie-boogie-land, hoogie-boogie land!

I can’t tell if the guitarist and bassist are in a focused or resigned state.

I hear that there is no war or hate in Hoogie Boogie land, that sends too good to be true but with such earnest delivery of the lyrics, I just can’t believe that the singer could be lying.

I think the string players are experiencing something like the Boddhisatvas of Mahayana Buddhism:

they’ve achieved enlightenment themselves, with their minds / spirits floating in Hoogie Boogie Land, but their bodies remain here on Earth, and will do so until all sentient beings have also had a chance to taste the wisdom of Sparky, Hoogie Boogie Land’s emissary to mortal men.

On a more secular note…I wonder if these guys listened to Flipper and Black Oak Arkansas on an endless loop before this show.

I’ve added Flipper’s “Blow’n Chunks” to my “now listening” playlist because of these guys…good god, I never thought I’d hear a band that makes Flipper sound like they have the chops of Juilliard School graduates.

ALICE COOPER - Raise Your Fist And Yell

This one is from 1987 when he was at the peak of the 80’s metal phase. It’s really great, though, and grows on me more with each listen. The songs are really catchy and have a great energy. And Kane’s guitar work is radical.

Recommended tracks: “Roses on White Lace”, “Prince of Darkness”, “Freedom”.

“Prince of Darkness” is great. “Freedom” is an embarrassing attempt to create new a youth anthem for the '80s (Check it out, kids! I’m still “cool”! Power to the people!).

FREEDOM TO ROCK!!!
FREEDOM TO TALK!!!

I love it. It’s so cheesy, I can imagine it being used for an AT&T commercial or something.

I totally get what you’re saying though. It kind of wormed its way in my brain, though, and it ain’t planning on leaving any time soon.

London Quireboys - Bit Of What You Fancy Remastered

Rob Zombie - In The Age Of The Consegrated Vampire We All Get High

Rob Zombie - In The Age Of The Consegrated Vampire We All Get High

Is it any good? Not a huge fan of the Primus rip off single.

HOOGIE BOOGIE LAND.

[shocked]

I think me and the guys ripped this off chord-for-chord at one of our first shows.

I’ve been coming up on crazy amounts of killer used music lately for dirt cheap. 13mg, Evil Mothers, Orb, Testify, Apollo 440, etc. etc. etc.

Despite all this, I find myself autistically listening to Severed Heads.l

The New Filter. This one is a grow on you release. A lot a screaming from Richard…City of Blinding Riots & Pride Flag are different and really good tunes.

It’s out. I like the sun comes out tonight too. This one is similar but darker.
