What are you listening to right now?

yeah, i hear a lot of John Bush hate, but that strikes me as so strange. the dude is nothing but honest, open, real, and funny/introspective. he is a down to earth dude, and in the VERY short time i spoke with him, he was really nice.

on top of it all, there is the whole, ‘almost the voice of metallica’ thing… and judging from this video, it would have been fucking CLASS.

I saw Anthrax with John Bush and then saw Armored Saint a few years later, the guy is just a phenomenal showman, he knows how to whip the crowd up like nobody else i’ve seen. What a singer.

he really is. charming, magnetic, and clearly gives it his all every night. hearing him belt out ‘I Am The Law’ gave me shivers.

When i saw Armored Saint it was like the scene in the Blues Brothers at Bob’s Country Bunker. After the first song there was a smattering of polite applause and John Bush laughed and said “This place is deader than Eddie”, Frasier’s dog from the show, who’d just died. By the next couple of songs the crowd was going nuts and by the end of the set Bush had swung from the speakers at the front of the stage, whipped the crowd up and i thought the place was in danger of being burned down the crowd were so fucking excited. It was genuinely amazing to see.

When i saw Anthrax with John Bush, the crowd were into it from the start, he gave it 200% from start to finish, stood on top of the giant stacks at either side of the stage and generally went nuts the whole show. I was furious when Anthrax fucked him over in favour of getting Belladonna back, that was a long, drawn out period that was just an insult to a man of his enormous talents. It disgusted me to be honest.

Yeah, just came out yesterday.
I like some of the mixes better than the originals, since I found “Conditions of My Parole” a little dull.

the Guess Who live at the paramont - American woman long version TT: 16: 55 killer version.

yeah… i wasnt cool with that. i mean, i LOVE Worship Music, and i am really impressed with the changes/growth in Joey’s voice… so in that light i am reallyu excited and amped up for the next Anthrax album… but… yeah, the whole deal with Bush was handled poorly. VERY poorly. but he is such a class act that he hasnt trashed them for it, just shrugged, went home, and wrote a new Armored Saint album. fuck yeah.

Didn’t like the new album so much, but Joey sounds great! Nice of Bush to be so good about it, i’d have talked shit about them all over the place!

I like the new Anthrax…It needed a few listens for me to appreciate it.

After Sound of White Noise, I couldn’t get into any of the later releases. Anthrax kicked ass when they came to Long Island with Testament during there last tour. I thought I threw up some pics. If not, let me know.

Anthrax is one of those bands that just never grabbed me…I appreciate their place in metal history and I don’t go screaming to turn it off if it’s being played but I never sought them out either…not for me…but still, good at what they do…

I got into all the Bush releases because my bro liked them, Dimebag’s on most of them somewhere or other so that was another thing i liked about them. They’re different from Joey-era, and i know people who don’t like them at all, but i enjoyed them. I’d definitely like to see your pics, that’d be cool! Testament are great live too.

Like this one…front row baby!

out of the ‘big 4’ i have always thought of Anthrax as the most… hungry. Metallica wrote back to back three of the greatest albums in metal history (Ride, Master, Justice) and then went on to become polarizing. i have made my opinions about them clear on the board before, so i wont go into all that. haha. but Megadeth has always bored the fuck out of me. i hate Dave’s voice, his lyrics have always reminded me of that sweaty kid with the big pimple in grade school trying to sound cool and edgy in his ‘dark’ poetry that he scribbles on the backs of his math worksheets. and Slayer, while being a totally bro-tastic badass party band, is really… lazy and cowardly. there is no bravery in anything Slayer has done in well on 20 years. they just coast by on being brooding and loud, and while i love a lot of Slayer’s music… they just reek of poses and posturing.
whereas Anthrax was always upfront and on point. when they were goofy, they were awesome goofy, when they were serious, they were snarling, and when they were coasting (Stomp and Volume 8) they were still writing class metal, just… not the most inspired.

also, out of the 4, Anthrax is the only one whose last album at all measures up to their classics.

and yes, Overkill and Testament and Exodus also rock. haha.

Attack of the killer Bs is all that is needed from the Anthrax catalog! [;)]
