What are you listening to right now?

Actually prefer SOD to Anthrax.

while i do not, i DO love me some SOD.

Ballad of Kurt Cobain will always be a classy move. haha

Tears for Fears - Raoul and the Kings of Spain

For some reason, it’s a perfect accompaniment to the news today.

Don’t you effin’ jinx me like that. I hope to hell not. My folks are too young to be grandfolks.

I meant news like in literal news. Syria and Japan and whatnot. That whole Orwell/Huxley/Fallout nonsense.

I’ve heard that that album was written about fatherhood, so that’s why I asked.

Tears for Fears - Raoul and the Kings of Spain.

I really like this cd…listen to it alot.

The Cure - Head in the Door

Im listening to Depeche Mode’s Angel off their new release. I saw them live last weekend for the first time, don’t know why I didn’t catch them before!

I like to listen to non-intrusive music while I’m working. I find that computer game soundtracks do the trick.

Here are some that are currently on my playlist:
Descent II (this one is fantastic, possibly the best game ost)
Mass Effect
MDK
Half Life II (and sequels)
Myst series
Portal series
Command & Conquer series
Crusader No Remorse & No Regret (possibly the best mod soundtracks from that period, fantastic stuff)

If any of you know of any more awesome game soundtracks, please let me know.

Here is a taste of the Descent II soundtrack

and another great one:

and finally:

Oh and BTW Ogre was involved with this soundtrack, here is one of his contributions (of 2):

I really dig the Decent and Mass Effect soundtracks. I would also recommend NIN’s soundtrack to Quake, The Alien Trilogy soundtrack by Stephen Root and the music of Diablo.

Was it MDK or MDK2 that Raymond Watts was a part of? I need to track that down.

Quake is a great soundtrack. I recommend Quake 3 Arena’s soundtrack as well, prefarably the Dreamcast console version, Front Line Assembly was a part of it. The PC version aint too shabby either.

i like the following:

Unreal Gold, Unreal Tournament (from '99)
Interstate '76 (+ addon)
Death Rally (original)
Duke Nukem 3D (yes)
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Castlevania: Lament of Innosence
Castlevania: Curse of Darkness

i also enjoy King of Fighters and Fatal Fury series arrange soundtracks by SNK, but up to 2000, afterwards they became kinda meh. the whole thing was interesting in itself - release a properly recorded versions of songs (not just 1~2 minute loops) for their games and release them as albums.

and ofc sometimes i just load up tons of NSF/GYM/SPC music files from old games from NES/Genesis/SNES and nostalgia floods my brain XD

Cool! I’ll have to check those out. I’m not sure about MDK, I’m not too familiar with Raymond Watts’ work .

Amon Tobin did the Splinter Cell Chaos Theory soundtrack a few years back for but it’s still miles ahead…track that down.

And it’s not a computer game soundtrack but you may like the Voices From The Lake album while working…a lot of record stores here in the UK voted it best album of 2012 and Resident Advisor gave it the only 5 out of 5 rating they’ve ever given as far as I know…check their review of it for a good description of it. For me it’s pure perfection as an album in the electronic format.

Thanks for the advice guys, I was already aware of the Quake soundtracks (I’ve been a hardcore Quake gamer for a while in the past  ) but not of the others, I’ll check them out.

speaking of Unreal, check this song out:

and it samples both ministry’s “so what” (drums) and nine inch nails’ “suck” (some synths)!!
