What are you listening to right now?

Didnt Nirvana steal the riff from Eighties? Fuck u Curt Kobain!

Im listening to Cyanotic - Transhuman 2.0

They certainly did.
KJ was even going to sue Nirvana, until Kurt offed himself, whereon they decided it wasn’t worth it.
Dave Grohl then played drums (and they sound freaking sweet) on their recent self-titled album as a way of compensation for swiping the riff.

yea, i thought it was a good move on their part to pull that lawsuit. didn’t kurt even say at one point he got that riff from that song?

Actually Kurt being the little radge he was said he’d never heard the song Eighties let alone heard of Killing Joke. Killing Joke then produced a fan letter Kurt wrote them when he was 13yrs old and were about to sue his ass but didn’t due to being gentleman after he popped himself.

If I was the Joke I still would’ve still sued the fucker dead or alive for that outrage. Kurt must have felt like a right twit when the Joke produced the letter he wrote them…maybe the humiliation of that was what pushed the radge over the edge and not the hammer abuse?!

haha, interesting theory tooth! I’m sure KJ could still extract considerable cash from Courtney. I actually went to see KJ when they play’d my city a few years back. unfortunately i lost my ID a few days before (something i do at a really unfortunate time every year) and probably didn’t look that much over 18. I was not allowed in and ended up going to see a really cheap community theatre production about a zombie attack instead. reading afra’s review a second ago brought back the pain.

What Song did Nirvana rip from KJ? I’m not familiar with Killing Joke’s catalogue.

You said it first, I certainly don’t care you never liked them.

Actually Nirvana has always struck me as fairly heterosexual. Revolting Cocks on the other hand…[crazy]

I never said Nirvana sucked, i just said i dont like’em, sure their stuff is good and talented just not my taste. Eighties is the song they ripped off no doubt about it.

LOL

I remember playing Eighties awhile back and I tried to see if there were going to think it was nirvana…but they didn’t… My reaction was obviously “come on, really!? You don’t see any similarity at all? …Really? Wow…”.

Eighties > On a Plain.

Simple as that.

Just came home with Stayte’s “Abandon in the Amber.” Looking forward to this bad boy.

oh gosh, that reminds me, i listened to unplugged in new york the other night as i was going to sleep, first time i have thought to listen to them in years, and i enjoyed much of it, on a plain is great!

Come As You Are, not On a Plain.

could somebody enlighten us as to the nirvana song you all are talking about?

i remember an interview with grohl who said they were worried when they put out come as you are as they knew it stole kj’s riff from eighties. then grohl said something about making it up to them by playing on their album at some point. such a different mood though just by slowing it down. both great tracks.

i also love in utero. porkspam do u have the rough mixes from that? if not let me know. also the entire album version of albini’s mixes came out on vinyl a year or so ago supposedly by accident.
