WTF is Left Handshake not included, I read somewhere it’s on european pressings of one of the back and forth volumes, but not on the other countries versions??
Anyhoo…
No idea what my rarest thing is… probably the tool LP, or this Marilyn manson Mechanical Animals cd with comic book art instead of the regular art. Or NIN Broken w/ the 3" cd. Pantera - Far Beyond Driven with original art on LP and CD… (although that doesn’t appear THAT rare)…Some of the other LP’s I have are probably pretty rare, I just havn’t kept up to date with them for a while. lots of numbered shit.
Favorite Ministry item… I dunno probably ICYDFLSU on LP… or the promo DSOTS in the vinyl sleeve. Still never seen DSOTS on LP… folk swear it exists tho.
Although there’s probably a test pressing or ten floating about if the planet Earth is lucky.
I had a feeling this was the case, but some of the Chicago dwellers here swore they saw it on LP around release date (Afra being one of them from memory). Eh, it could have just been a 12" promo flat, pretty sure I’ve seen them on ebay before.
Oh well, I’ll cross it off my list anyway makes things easier for me lol. Now if I could just find a J1F vinyl I’d be happy…

Whoever owned the rights to the Timothy Leary sample used in it wouldn’t allow Skinny Puppy to put out the record in the states. Mr. Leary was actually OK with it, but he didn’t actually own that recording.
A similar sample is used in NIN’s Fixed, and I don’t think that ever got a U.S. release - all the copies I’ve ever seen have little UK stickers on them, and it may be for the same reason.
over 1200 cds… not to mention the same amount i sold when i was on not nice things that needed money…
see the problem with downloading alot of music, or buying alot of music is you don’t fully absorb what you get… and that devalues to an extent, the album… it becomes the “oh that was the august 2009 cd” instead of “that album was my life when i was 16” you know? plus you almost, at least in my case, feel like i MUST own everything by an artist… even the shit, cause i mean, there might be a good cd there… and i try to like artists that I enjoy thier whole output and can put the cd on front to back. otherwise why’d i like them to begin with… so it’s like signing up for a mailing list with each artist I add to my “like” list.
or i’m obsessive compulsive (actually i KNOW i am)
I don’t download either. or own an ipod. I’ve VERY into technology and the newest shit… i don’t always buy the new models cause i’m poor, but i’m usually ,at the worst, what you’d call current.;
:lightbulb going off: maybe people don’t talk about they albums they bought this week cause people tend to buy tracks now… even the way a peron asks that question dates them in a way… what :blank: did you buy
album = tends to mean lp
tape = 80’s
cd = 90s
tracks did you download = 00’s
you know?

Feel you there, I appreciate what I buy a lot more now days that I cant afford to buy much lol. From the days when I was buying heaps - especially LP’s - I suppose you can say I didn’t “appreciate” it as much as I should. Considering when I go looking for a record or CD now days I always come across something that I go “what… I own that? Wtf did that come from??”
I get a bit obsessive with getting every release, but it passes… In that case I usually go the MP3 route for the obscure bits and pieces and buy the main releases. Well eventually!
I hear ya guys. IF I buy cds these days (as I myself am not much a digital downloader and just got my first ipod a few months ago) , there are very, very few artists that I could afford to buy new releases of. Robin Storey, Mark Spybey, Jack Dangers, Mick Harris, Pop Levi, that’s about all I’d be able to support at this point (new Puppy and ohGr albums too even though I just don’t dig it like I once did) . Heck, I haven’t even gotten the new Orb album released this year and it’s gotten pretty good reviews. Their last album I ordered the Japanese version at a ridiculous price since it was the first country to release it. So yeah, times are tough my friends.
I used to own almost 2000 CDs and had hundreds of records (I worked at a record store and spent most my cash on inventory at cost). I’ve sold most of them to pay for music equipment and now I’m pretty much exclusively a downloader. I don’t got the space or interest any more.
Back in the day I had a lot of rare stuff but it’s all gone now except for a few rare Rapoon records and my 7" early industrial collection (I’ve still got the TG, Cabaret Voltaire, SPK and Clock DVA 7" records that I’ve treasured so much). I doubt any of them are worth too damn much.
The “Alien Glyph Morphology” 2X10" record set in handmade wooden sleeve and the “From Shadows Sleep” huge limited to 105 boxed set thingy.
I’ve also got my own Ka-baalim/Cupid CD/DVD/Booklet deal with a Rapoon remix that’s limited to 21, that’s rare too, though I’m not sure anyone cares enough to make it genuinely valuable! =)
I buy waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many 12"s, 10"s and 7"s. I don’t really buy too many LPs at the moment though and virtually never buy cd’s or download although there is the very odd occasion.
I’d say the one cool thing about buying waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many records is that while you’re digging through them to find something, you discover another kick-ass record that you completely forgot you bought last month!
Used to drop like $50-75 bucks a month of records, but since I’m getting boned by unemployment and a lack of financial aid, I haven’t bought anything in almost a month. The last thing I snagged was the soundtrack to the DS game The Dark Spire, which came bundled with the game itself. An absolute fuckin’ steal at five bucks new. Soundtrack rocks all over the place, and me being a huge fan of old-school dungeon crawlers, so does the game.
