Welcome to Prongs, Deanwavo

I guess it just felt fucked up, ya know…that 1st reaction to a stranger handling ur personal effects is distressing & ya just feel naked, ya know.

My genuine apologies for posting your Facebook page, that was not very nice. Just dial it down a bit, it gets tiring.

Oh, and thank you so much for the message you sent me [:)] Welcome!

No worries at all, chief [:)]

ooh, ooh, my turn:

With Sympathy - The only Ministry album I’ve never purchased. I listen to clips here and there, but ultimately always decide to pass.

12 Inch Singles - Got this when I was in my 30’s. As a teen/20-something, I just assumed I wouldn’t be into this. I do love 90% of this compilation.

Twitch - This is the one that I never got until about 5 years ago. I loved it instantly.

Land of Rape and Honey - Had this one on a white cassette. Totally, blew my mind. I had the Mind album and the JBMHR single, but when I got this, I fell in love with Ministry.

The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste - This album really never blew me away. I think I like 4 of the 9 tracks. I think I liked the cover and title more than anything else.

In Case You Didn’t Feel Like Showing Up (LIVE): This was the album that kinda made Mind inconsequential to me. It had my fave songs from that album with twice the energy.

Psalm 69: This was the first “new” Ministry album I purchased. I waited, waited, and waited. And I love(d) it. Being from Arlington, TX - home to Rigor Mortis, and another metal band - it was some kind of acceptance from the world that Mike Scaccia was on this record and in the band. As I’ve grown older, I think “NWO” is totally boring, “Just One Fix” still gets my blood pumping, and I always skip JBMHR.

Filth Pig: They lost me here and I stopped listening to Ministry almost entirely for about 5-6 years. As much as I wanted to love it, it just wasn’t grabbing me. Around the time I discovered Twitch - 5 or so years ago - I revisited this album and it really blew my mind and has become one of my favorites.

Dark Side of the Spoon: Got this after my re-invigorated Ministry jag, and truly think this is possibly their most underrated work. “Bad Blood” is okay, but friggin “Eureka Pile” is a top 10, top 15 Ministry song in my book.

Animositisomina: Like a few tracks, but have never found the second level.

Houses of the Mole: I dig the majority of this album. My fave is “World.”

Rio Grande Blood: Oh, there’s probably 3 songs I like when I need a metal fix.

The Last Sucker: “Let’s Go” and “Watch Yourself.” the rest stinks.

Relapse: I actually like “Double Tap.” the rest stinks.

From Beer to Eternity: There’s 3 songs I like. “Change of Luck” is the best thing they’ve done in a decade.

“Change of Luck” and “Thanx But No Thanx” on FBTE are excellent. Did they put those on the new setlist? Nope. It’s almost like Al deliberately said, “What are the lamest 4 songs off the album . . . . put those on the setlist!”

Saw them last for Animositisomina…was a decent show…

I had no idea ministry played australia in 2001

To twerk4Luv,

NWO is totally played out…don’t agree that it’s boring though…I feel it’s just worn to death, Ya know…he relies on it too much. Imagine if Radiohead played the living shit out of Creep? Same difference, right…fans would be pissed like “okay great song but give it some breathing room…take it off the fucking Setlist for a few years instead of ramming it down our throats every fucking chance you get”

Ya see what I’m saying? There’s so many other songs ministry could play, the fans should never have to hear NWO ever again for that reason alone…then one day like 100 years from now, bang!

They play it and it’s Awesum again cuz we weren’t tortured with having to swallow it every 5 seconds from every single fucking tour every fucking year.

and if that weren’t bad enuff, Al had the nerve to re-record this song for the cleopatra release of Greatest Tricks in 2010. And before that he did a remix version for Rantalogy in 2004.

Does Jourgensen have ADHD or short term memory loss?

Having said that, the 1st remix on Ministry Box which came out in Germany, Nov. 1993, is a gorgeous piece of carnage. But that would’ve sufficed…why the fuck does he keep revisiting it?

It’s like he’s got this Howard Hughes type tick in his head that makes him re-record & remix things excessively until it’s ripped to shreds.

Like the big Hawaiian guy in forgetting Sarah Marshall said to Jason Segel…“it’s like sopranos, man…it’s over…get another show cuz it’s over!”

My name is SKot

I like drinking sarsaparilla.

SKot, is sarsparilla the same as root beer, or if there a difference?

I agree - although i do love NWO myself - but every time i see their setlists i think “wow, So What, Thieves and Stigmata again, noooo!”. At the shows i’m standing there contemplating going out for a piss when those songs start, but i end up really enjoying them every single time. The thing i’ve enjoyed the most the last couple of times i’ve seen Ministry has been watching the reaction of my friends who had never seen the band before. They were, without exception, totally fucking blown away and got absolutely obsessed with Ministry after seeing them. It’s really nice to see people being so impressed with something that i’ve seen so many times and take for granted at this point.

Al let NWO bleed into other songs.

Supermanic Soul has that same two note guitar riff. Animosity has a similar vocal style/chorus…then you have No W (clever play on the title)

Al claims he’s not a jukebox and he sold out at the very beginning, but something tells me he’s ok cashing in on this song. [:P]

With Sympathy: Al can only call Side 2 an abortion.
Twelve Inch Singles: Better with the bonus disc
Twitch: Good
Rape & Honey: Great.
The Mind…: Good, but really needs remastering.
In Case You Didn’t Feel Like Showing Up: The Mind Of Rape & Honey.
Psalm 69: Overplayed.
Filth Pig: Meh.
Dark Side Of The Spoon: One of the best records ever made!
Sphinctour: If only they had this intensity when making Filth Pig…
Animositisomnia: Great, but with a few crap moments.
Houses Of The Mole: Good, but repetitive.
Rantology: Now that’s how you give a middle finger to a label!
Rio Grande Blood: The first Ministry record that’s a complete rehash.
The Last Sucker: You know there’s a problem when the best song is a cover…
Relapse: Haven’t bothered listening past the singles.
From Beer To Eternity: Anything I’ve heard from it sucks. RETIRE!

With Sympathy:_5/10
12" (2014):____7.5/10
Twitch:________8/10
LoRaH:________10/10
Mind:__________8.5/10
In Case…:______9/10
Psalm 69:_______8/10
Filth Pig:________10/10
Dark Side:_______9.5/10
Animositisomina:__7/10
Houses:________7/10
RGB:___________6/10
Last Sucker:_____6/10
Relapse:________4/10
FBTE:__________6.5/10

Relapse gets the lowest marks mainly because of the stupid voting and counting songs in addition to that horrific “axe murderers cut” bit; Weekend Warrior is pretty dumb too.

Between Land of Rape and Honey and Filth Pig, if we are talking the LP version of LoRaH then I’d pick Filth Pig as my favorite. I really dig the placement of Hizbollah and I Prefer in the CD version, I was surprised to find out way later that they weren’t even on the original track list.

Mind would be a little higher if it weren’t for Test. Shame to, as others have pointed out, the music is decent…the lyrics, meh.

Well, I guess totally boring is extreme. And yeah, the irony of Al’s complaints about live shows versus what ends up on the setlist is puzzling. I appreciate the dance remix (is that right? From the single) more than the album version.

Mind would be a little higher if it weren’t for Test. Shame to, as others have pointed out, the music is decent…the lyrics, meh.

The world needs instrumental versions of “Test” and “JBMHR”

His jukebox metaphor always pisses me off.

Don’t wanna be a jukebox? Stop being one! Change the damn songs already!

No one goes to see the Stones play new stuff.

No one goes to see the Stones play new stuff.

The last few bits of footage i’'ve seen of the Stones live, the old stuff’s pretty badly played these days too! It took me a while to figure out what songs they were even playing the last time i tried to watch one of their shows on tv, it was fucking godawful, unfortunately.
