We Knew It Was Coming..

Yep… Al needs more money.

Ministry will be releasing a new remix album of their 2007 swansong effort “The Last Sucker” on September 15th through 13th Planet Records. Entitled “The Last Dubber”, the outing will shape up as follows:

01 - “Let’s Go” (La Fin Du Monde Mix)
02 - “Watch Yourself” (The Clocks Strike Thirteen Mix)
03 - “Life is Good” (Neuroplasticity Mix)
04 - “The Dick Song” (Straight Outta Lincoln Mix)
05 - “The Last Sucker” (Icke Mix)
06 - “No Glory” (Sandpaper Condom Mix)
07 - “Death & Destruction” (A Vote of Non-Confidence Mix)
08 - “Die In A Crash” (Point of Impact Mix)
09 - “End Of Days Part 1” (One Less Sparrow Mix)
10 - “End Of Days Part 2” (Extreme Mayan Makeover Mix)
11 - “Let’s Go” (Dawn of Oblivion Mix)
12 - “The Last Sucker” (Hardware Revamp Mix)

Nearly all of the tracks were remixed by RevCo’s Clayton Worbeck, sans “Let’s Go” (Dawn Of Oblivion Mix) which was done by John Bechdel (Killing Joke, Ministry) and “The Last Sucker” (Hardware Revamp Mix), which was done by DJ Hardware.

what, no roudhouse blues remix? how could they! i’m not buying!!

seriously though tls was released in 2007, right?
isn’t it a bit late for a remix album?

Lame.

Not if you’re broke and no one is buying the shite that you keep spewing forth on your label. Al has lost his touch with music and what he’s trying to do. Needs to lay off with alcohol, go buy a bit fat bag of H, shoot up, grab a guitar and write a real swansong of an album. THAT, people might actually buy.

And I find it sad that I would say that because I used to be one of Al’s staunchest supporters. I was all on board with rgb and the remix of that, but Last Sucker is not a good album, and his actions since then (musically and artistically) have proven to me how desperate he has gotten. Al is truly one of the stars that needed to burn out fast rather than fade away slowly. It’s excruciating and embarrassing to watch. Almost makes me want to get my Ministry tat covered up.

you know that scene in swingers when john favreu is leaving the phone messages and you just hurt for the guy cause it’s just so sad and you want him to stop… eh nevermind

Late,

MAN! I’m totally gonna buy this looks fucking awesome, I plan on buying two just in case I lose one! Oh and the cover looks fucking dope! I’m sure the lines are gonna be long when this thing hits the streets.

lmao

As I’ve been saying all along - how hard would it be for him to pay a 13th Planet employee to scout for some new talent instead of releasing mix/dub albums one after the other of albums no one bought in the first place?? Why is there suddenly four or five Ministry/Revco remix albums in the last three or four years when there wasn’t even ONE during the ‘Barker Years’ of 1986 - 2003???

I think that fact speaks volumes.

Why do we need dub or remix versions of thrash metal albums? Who even buys shit like that in 2009?? Does he have any idea how freakin’ outdated that is? Doesn’t he listen to to modern alternative radio?

Why doesn’t he just retire Ministry gracefully? Or at the very least have some intersting artists handle the material, like the Melvins are doing with ‘Chicken Switch’ (Eye from The Boredoms, Acid Mothers Temple, Lee Ranaldo…) instead of having some no name clueless industrial metal bozo insert some beats and some reverb and George W samples???

Rio Grande Blood - Rio Grande Dub
Cocked And Loaded - Cocktail Mix
The Last Sucker - The Last Dubber
Sex-O Olympic-O - Sex-O Mix-O

That just reeks of desperation. I’d pay good money to have Mrs Jay mosey on down here and try and justify all this to the fans.

Words cannot express how fucking lame this is. Who the fuck releases a REMIX ALBUM of their last ever album, let alone with all but 2 tracks remixed by the same fucking person?!!?!?

And “no name Industrial Metal Boz” is damn right Peligro. You get the feeling this hungry young cat just sat hunched in the studio remixing this shit on his own and then was like “Yo Al check it out! I remixed your last album! Let’s make some cash” and Angie went and gave the go ahead like the fucking Sharon Osbourne credibility-be-damned cunt she is.

What an embarrassment! Who the fuck is buying this shit!? They must be shot!

So the mean the last ever “Ministry” album is actually ‘The Last Dubber’…

FUCK THAT the last ever Ministry album was ‘Animositisomina’. Period. The end. The-the-the-the-that’s all folks.

When can we expect the ‘Cover Up’ remix album??

A disco metal version of Under My Thumb. Bang A Gong with breakbeats. I could have a field day with this material.

I can easily imagine Fat Al-bert relaxing in his home studio chuggin’ beer after beer and lighting up a doobie while he instructs some star struck fan boy to cook him up another remix album to keep the landlord (not to mention Mrs Jay) off his back.

I didn’t put this one together but I will tell you guys from the tracks I have heard its a really good record. Its a remix record in that there is additional production, loops, arrangements and so on. However, it is VERY even and it really feels like a cohesive album that blends the Last Sucker with some really cool “old Ministry” type vibes. I think its definitely worth listening to. I like it a lot more than Rio Grande Blood/Dub and prefer it to The Last Sucker in ways as well. Do yourself a favor and don’t dismiss it just because you don’t care for “The Trilogy” or remix records in general. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Sensible post.

At least you didn’t come on here and spew bile over us for being discontented.

I didn’t like The Last Sucker one iota, so I doubt that a remix version is going to amend that but I guess I’ll always keep an open mind.

I agree though that enough is enough. Retire the Ministry beast once and for all. It’s kinda lame with Al padding out 13th Planet’s release sheet with a heap of ho hum remixes. None of the trilogy really set the world on fire in terms of sales or artistic merit and rehashinhg this shit is only going to make them stink all the more.

At the end of the day it’s just tacky.

Write some new music Al and release it under a different name - Like Buck Satan for example. I think that’s what he should have done after Paul left. I can imagine Al doing a Mojo Nixon type record - I’d have bought into that rather than ‘Bush Metal’.

I think the point being made is the simple fact that 1) the original album sucked, 2) it’s been two years, and he’s released a few things since, and 3) he’s just mindlessly putting out anything he can to make a quick buck. It’s either greed, or desperation. Either way it’s not good. And I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Cover Up’s remix album will come out next year, when they should’ve done it months after the initial release, not two years.

You’re albums aren’t selling, and you claimed to retire, so retire. And it really is a shame that after all of good music throughout the years, it’s come down to this. And he flat out said he didn’t want to be like KISS…

Well…you didn’t expect Al to suddenly come out with something original now, did you?

Innovation and originality and 13th Planet Records don’t exactly go hand in hand.

Not if you’re broke and no one is buying the shite that you keep spewing forth on your label.

that’s as may be, but if you’re broke and noone’s buying your cds, how a new cd release (which noone will buy) will help ya get the monies?? =)

Hahahahaha…

I doubt Al has his finger on the pulse of good “modern” music these days.

Surely this can’t last.

Thirteenth Planet Records days are numbered one would think. In the end the only logo’s that are going to make that label any money is Ministry and Revco…that is the reason these lame records keep popping up.

Al’s done his dash. He should sell the goddamned studio, ditch the label and retire while producing and featuring on the odd (cool?) record here and there. In saying that there are loads of legendary guys older than Al that still produce and make great records so my question is…what the hell happened?

what the hell happened?
