Wax Trax! Records Retrospectacle: 33 1/3 Year Anniversary

Ah so he’s a local. This was probably the best gig he’ll ever get. Is that band worth checking out?

Actually Acumen and/or Acumen Nation were on WaxTrax near the end, there.

He also coengineered Filth Pig.

I actually thought the sound was ideal on Saturday.

Gunter’s guitar and Paul’s bass were more audible Sunday, which was fucking awesome, but En Esch’s and Chris’ vocals werent as clear as the previous night. I was dead center both nights of Revco, and def. feel one of the techs/stagehands mightve altered something.

Gerta, did Paul manage to get wax Trax t-shirts?

EDIT: Btw who the fuck is Jamie Duffy?

Guitarist for Acumen Nation–a Chicago-based industrial rock band. He is also involved in a drum n’ bass side project called DJ? Acucrack.

DJ? Acucrack opened for FLA on the Artificial Soldier tour. They played a few dates and the rest of the tour was canceled.

Nope it was RevCo World. Look it up on youtube

I believe he performed as RevCo World AND RevCo Sound System at different times over the past few years.

He did a LOT for Revco this weekend - he would start early and stay really late for rehearsal and took care of a lot of things. He is a cool guy local to Chicago and you see him around a lot (he did the sound for House of Blues for years) and is personal and close friends with all these bands. A loyal friend to have…

Oh Afra, I have partial video [everything except for the beginning] of Paul and the BRGC doing Everyday is Halloween.
i’ll be sure to upload that soon, along with scans of tickets, passes, setlists, etc.

I failed to get a setlist Sunday night. The stagehands [who were annoyed with my screaming Saturday] handed one to the people on the left and right of me, but not to me. =(

I Will Refuse (Glee)

Every day is Hallowe’en (Glee)

Cocks: Stainless Steel Providers

Cocks: Do Ya Think I’m Sexy

Also have I Will Refuse on video (low quality) and the emergence of Revolting Cocks and first minute or so of BS&Q before I was told to stop filming by security.

This photo is particularly interesting to me because you must of been holding the camera very near my head because that is exactly the view I had last night. It was very nice to meet you, btw.[/reply]

You were probably just to the left of the image… and a few inches higher.

When the Cocks were throwing out the hats, people mostly had to jump and scramble to grab them. Carmangary just lifts up his hand and catches one with all those shorties screaming and jumping around him. It was funny

This is just shot from my phone - I’m sure there are many more others will post soon on and off this forum.

Duffy’s a boss for his contributions then

I think Matt would’ve been there all 3 nights if he was really there

Yeah, I would definitely say yes. If you like metal with industrial/drum n’ bass elements, they are pretty cool. I’d probably start with “The 5ifth Column”–not a dud to be found on that album.

filthpig, I did get some Wax Trax show related swag from Julia Nash, for Friday/Saturday and Sunday. PB delivered the goods.Have to add to my collection of shirts which I’ve stupidly, completely worn out. Ah well. NOW, of course , need some new TKK stylin’ action.
“Boys, you listening?”

I don’t check out too many bands often but it sounds like they may get a listen

Nice recap of the weekend, including a small gallery:

Jamie Duffy was involved in so much Chicago industrial through the 1990s just via sheer work ethic. Aside from the records and tours with Acumen, DJ? Acucrack and Iron Lung Corporation, he engineered and assisted countless records at Chicago Trax (see Filth Pig, Connelly’s Shipwreck) and Warzone Recorders. He did live sound for bands at nearly every venue in town. “Ubiquitous” doesn’t even begin to describe it. I probably saw 150-200 gigs between 1995 and 2000, and Jamie was behind the mixing disk at many of them.

I recall that Acumen (which got its start around 1990) was in talks to sign with Wax Trax!.. but it wasn’t to be because the label had its liquidity crisis right around that time. So they ended up on Fifth Column Records out of D.C., which Jared Hendrickson of Chemlab was running.

Anyway, (cowboy) hats off to Jamie. Great guy.

I Had a great time performing with the Cocks! All involved were consummate gentlemen and gentlewomen. I write this now in memorium of the late Mr. Duffy.
It was was an amazing display of tenacity and talent, the feats he pulled off in preparation for the show. The weekend was one I shall never forget .

Acumen Nation were always one of those bands I never got around listening to despite hearing about them from people or finding them involved with other artists I liked, always putting 'em on the “eventually” list. I oughta knock that off right now.

RIP, and welcome to Prongs!
