Tweet of the year

I regret missing FNM earlier on in the year. My bro caught them, said they were brilliant.

I saw them in '97 at a local radio festival and they were really entertaining. I’d really like to see them in a proper venue. Hope they come close.

…and not to sound like a dick or point out errors, but the “url” button below the post box is really a nice feature that so many on this forum neglect to take advantage of.

oh hell yes, I was so disappointed when I heard they were only touring Europe. I gotta see them.

I believe they (JBatgsom)are playing the 26th of October some place in california before they hit Europe. I hear this new album is supposed to be in the vein of old schooly DK. I ordered my copy yesterday so I’m sure I’ll know for sure either tomorrow or saturday. I imagine not too many people will like it here it has a very heavy antibush theme.

there’s always room for jello?

Thought his tweet was in regards to Jello and the new release, he had to drop out of the Jello dates 'cause of FNM because all of the Jello gigs are over seas, but he would be back with Jello for the us dates…
My bad!

Tweet of the year would be from Trey Spruance saying Bungle is back.

But then again. This FNM reunion is purely for cash. I am cynical as fuck. Fuck everyone in that band.

I can’t decide whether I’ll bother with them in Australia. Reunions are just a crock of shit. They don’t even try to recapture what’s gone; it’s just for money. And even if it isn’t fer filthy lucre, it’s sort of sad to see a bunch of old farts up on stage. Sometimes it’s best just to have memories, or an illusion of what it once was.

I say this after having seen the Pixies, Dinosaur Jr, Breeders and the Who live.

KISS doesn’t count, they are ageless monsters and still kicked arse.

They’re not ‘back’. They are gone forever.

And Trey should should put his money where his mouth is and release ‘Book Of Souls’ already. It’s been five years dammit!!

Fuck 'em and then some. A good band to be sure but hellishly overrated over here where fans treat them like royalty. Seriously, they had…what…one and a half decent albums. Their last two offerings had more filler than the cream bun I had for morning tea.

Cuckoo for Caca?!?!? What the fuck?

True. However, I’d see the ‘re-united’ Throbbing Gristle live in a heartbeat.

RE: Throbbing Gristle in Australia.

Let’s make a petition, Olsen… you, me, Peligro, Stairwell, BlueVelvet, we’ll have cunts on their knees [:)]

Ive seen FNM live on this tour and they were AWESOME. Obviously its just for the money but it doesn’t prevent them from being kickass live.

This is true,

but I’m a miserable twit who can’t have fun unless it’s at other people’s expense, or if I’m being a cynical prick [:(]

Cashgrab or not, I’m off to Soundwave, and will be def be checking out FNM…

Is it just me or has Mike Patton released absolutely NOTHING of interest or merit apart from Fantomas since leaving Faith No More??

Peeping Tom? Crank 2? Patton & Kaada? Tomamhawk? Patton Vs Executioners?? Euuuuggggghhhhh! [:(]

Sorry Faith No More. You’ve taken my money before. You won’t be taking it again.

I liked Patton’s project with Masima Akita, Maldoror, whose sole album She is pretty far out there. Its like a Warner Bros./Bugs Bunny cartoon spliced with your standard Merbow wall of noise.

Tomahawk’s last album ‘Anonymous’ was brilliant. I also dig Mr. Bungle’s last album so yeah Patton has sone some good stuff since FNM.

I think Tomahawk are superb. I saw Tomahawk, Fantomas and Melvins in a 2004 show, probably the greatest rock show Brisbane ever saw actually. That was an amazing experience. Tomahawk is the one post-FNM Patton project that lives up to the insane rock vibe of FNM. And what they did with Anonymous was excellent, it was as though they took a magnifying glass to the creepy, doomy aspect of their music and made a record out of that. I don’t think anyone saw that one coming, but its a sweet piece of work.

Anyway, I must admit I was torn about how to feel about the reunion as I do hate that kind of shit (especially when the band in question goes out sans new record), but when a friend bought me a Soundwave ticket, I wasn’t going to say no. Plus we used to listen to FNM all the time and get very excited about it, so it would be cruel of me to scorn NU-FNM. I would also find it easier to be a hater if I had seen them back in the day, but I was too young, so I’m just gonna be happy to see them live, even if its after the fact.

And it doesn’t hurt that Mike Patton seems to be getting better with age, every time I see him his singing seems more powerful, so there.

Also, what about his collaboration with Dillinger Escape Plan? Wasn’t that post FMN?

Nope. Tomahawk were dire. Sorry. Can’t say I’ve ever heard one single inspiring track in their entire back catalogue - and yes I’ve heard it all. Anonymous is hands down the stupidest of the bunch. The music was ok but the vocals were so faxed in it wasn’t funny. As if he had one weekend to come up with something to fit with the music and hammered it home. Not impressed with that one bit. And this is coming from someone who loves the ‘experimental’ side of Patton far more than the rock/pop side.

Can’t think of a better example of a hit/miss band that I (sort of) admire than Faith No More. One minute they floored you with brilliance and the next they left you scratching your head in bewilderment with their sheer awfulness.

Patton has his finger in too many pies. He should concentrate on one or two acts that are REALLY worth hanging around for instead of fiddling here and there and being all things to everyone. I liked it better when he was, y’know, “that guy in Faith No More…the one with the weird-ass OTHER band”.
