Trippest Albums Ever

What would you rate as the trippiest or most ‘mind fuck’ albums ever made? Albums that screw you over when you listen to them wired on whatever drug you choose to get wired on?

Or maybe certain albums are so trippy they do not require drugs?

Good argument.

Anyway, for a night of unabashed trippiness (and I mean ''scary" trippy. not “wow I feel one with the universe and everything is beautiful” trippy) without the use of hallucinogens, I would put on:

Skinny Puppy - Too Dark Park
Godflesh - Streetcleaner
Swans - Greed
Boredoms - Super AE
Butthole Surfers - Locust Abortion Technician
Nurse With Wound - Chance Meeting On A Dissecting Table…
Wolf Eyes - Burned Mind
Yoko Ono - Fly
The Residents - Meet The Residents

Residents, DUCK STAB.

disEMBOWELMENT- Transience into the Peripheral- so many bad vibes with that one…

any of Peligro’s mixtapes.

My mix tapes are like medicine that is administered anally.

You know you’ll get a lot out of it, but jeez it’s unpleasant the first time round.

I’m not really implying anything, but my, do I find it odd that it seems that most of the australians on the board vanish and return all at the same time…
Just sayin’

Perhaps many can’t be bothered to post until they see other ‘like minded’ forum members (or ''buddies" if you will) posting here.

And now that you mention Australians…where’s that Blue Velvet chick?

without a doubt,
Funkadelic-Funkadelic
here’s the song Mommy,What’s a Funkadelic?

Funkadelic-Free Your Mind and Your Ass Will Follow
here’s the title track, which actually reminds me of something the Manson family would have done around the time this song was released:

apparently this album was recorded as an experiment: recorded all in one day with the entire band completley tripping on acid. heck there’s even one song which is an altereed voice doing some satantic prayer over a gospel song played backwards!

Primal Scream- Vanishing Point
without a doubt, one of the finest produced albums of the 90’s,and one of the trippiest I’ve ever heard.psychadelic meets dub meets electronic.heck, the movie “trainspotting” was named after a song on this album,so that should tell you something! the album is meant to be the REAL soundtrack to the film “Vanishing Point” , which thanks to the album,I’ve checked out and it’s become one of my favorite movies.
here’s their cover of Motorhead, partially sung through a Darth Vader mask!

the best part about Vanishing Point? Adrian Sherwood did a dub remix album that’s just as fucked!

I’d probably agree with you, but I’m talkin “not here, haven’t logged in” then you all show up en masse. But whatev!

NON (Boyd Rice) was always good for messing with my head. This one used to creep me out . . .

the movie was named after the novel which was published in '93…the movie was '96 (and “trainspotting” was on the soundtrack - awesome song) and vanishing point was released it looks like '97…haven’t checked it out, I do have Echo Dek - the remix album by Adrian Sherwood which rules.

as for trippy albums:

skinny puppy: puppy gristle
download: charlies family
FSOL: dead cities
DJ spooky: necropolis: the dialogic Project
the orb: orbvs terrarvm
the Tear Garden: shiela liked the Rodeo
anything by Lull
doubting thomas: the infidel
Richard H Kirk: Agents with false memories

I’ll go with trippiest songs:

Type O Negative: ‘Tripping a Blind Man’
Soundgarden: ‘Power Trip’
Jane’s Addiction: ‘Trip Away’
Whipping Boy: ‘Tripped’
The Beatles: ‘Day Tripper’

and the honorary:

Ministry: ‘I’m Falling’
Ministry: ‘The Fall’

Diamanda Galas - Plague Mass

Nothing better when you’re driving through rural America late, late at night.

IT’S A CONSPIRACY AND WE ARE ALL PLOTTING AGAINST YOU AND ANY RELATIVES YOU HAVE IN AUSTRALIA

Good calls by gunnar, skarekrow and soul driver, btw

Australia’s a big empty wasteland. There’s really only a couple people that live there. They just spend their time making up multiple online personalities to make the outside world think they’re more populated then they are. Stupid lying shrimp-eating bastards!

Telling an American that you are from Australia is like telling them you are from the moon.

Naw, we’ve been to the moon.

Plus, the moon is closer.

I know so much of this kind of music it’s hard to even make a list but here are some favs:

Wolf Eyes - ‘Slicer’
Skinny Puppy - ‘Last Rights’
Pink Anvil - ‘Halloween Party’
Pedestrian Deposit ‘Fatale’
Merzbow - ‘Merzbuddah’
Throbbing Gristle - ‘D.O.A The Third and Final Report’

Animal Collective (or wait does this need to be a dark/scary trip since we are all so goth on the Ministry board?)

Also a lot of bands in the Noise/Experimental scene come to mind. The entire genre seemed to lead toward that sound in the past decade…bands like:

No Neck Blues Band
Kites
Smegma
Wooden Wand Vanishing Voice
Growing

blah blah there is so much of this stuff out there it kind of becomes overwhelming…

Naw, we’ve been to the moon.

HAHAHA!!! Nice one.
