NINE INCH NAILS mainman Trent Reznor is engaged to fellow musician Mariqueen Maandig, of the band WEST INDIAN GIRL. The news was announced via a posting on Maandig’s band’s web site, which stated, “In case you haven’t heard the news, Mariqueen got engaged. Everyone in the WEST INDIAN GIRL camp is super excited and happy for her. Q’s an awesome person, friend and bandmate and she couldnt be marrying a cooler guy.”
WEST INDIAN GIRL released its self-titled debut album in August 2004 on Astralwerks. The “Remix EP”, featuring remixes of songs from the self-titled CD, followed in 2006. The band’s second full-length album, “4th & Wall”, came out on October 23, 2007 on Milan Records. In August 2007, the band signed a pioneering recording and wireless distribution deal with digital media and [url “http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=119419#”]entertainment company Flycell.

This whole thing is so weird to me. I honestly did think he was leaning toward men more in his private life. And I am a huge fan so don’t take that as some homophobic insult bullshit. I am bisexual and I have a girlfriend. I have no biases there.
Seems strange he would marry someone in the music business. I’ve never heard of her band. I just hope he has no involvement with her musically and that she does not affect NIN (on a purely selfish level). She does look kind of Yoko-ish…
On a side not I find it annoying how in every fucking interview he talks about how he was on drugs for X amount of years and the joys of being sober now blah blah. I mean I understand and am proud he’s found happiness but it’s almost like he’s embarrassed of or disavowing his past. Personally I think Reznor and his music were more interesting back then. ‘The Downward Spiral’ is hands down his masterpiece.
EDIT to be clear I really like everything he’s done since then too though, and I love the productivity he’s displayed as a sober artist.
BTW this has probably been posted before… but what do you guys think of Year Zero? I listened to it today for the first time, straight through and it is fricken awesome…

I think it’s a very good album, but I can also understand why some might not like it either. It’s very different from everything else he’s done, but that might be what’s so good about it. It was probably the most experimental and noisy he had done at that point, although TDS had it’s noisy moments, but this one really focused on those elements. Plus, the concept for the album was pretty neat too. The crazy synth parts/solos were the album though - very addictive.

Yeah I love it, its very electronic and it manages to keep the signature NIN rock feel. And I like how its different from the typical emo fag crybaby that Reznor was… or is? Nope! none of that in Year Zero its the end of the world and the title Year Zero title probably relates to the Mayan 2012 thing.

Thought so too, but it’s actually supposed to be a few years after that. Like 15 years after dubya, and how the moral right wings fucked everything up. There’s some really cool ideas in there, like drugs in the water supplies to manipulate the masses and such. Really cool album, especially if you followed the ARG/promotion for it.
Year Zero stands out amongst the other recent stuff as, as already pointed out, it’s much more electronic. However after a while many of the songs just seem like each other; not a lot of distinction between them, but in saying that there are a few good tracks (mainly towards the end).

I’m a big fan of Year Zero. Got into the whole web game thing too.
I wish he’d get around to doing pt. 2, but since he’s about to go on hiatus after this tour (maybe he and the future Mrs. are planning on breeding?) I’m not holding my breath.
