After waiting in line at my local record store for hours, I have Trax! Box in hand.
The box is not leather, but is a slick shiny vinyl with silver foil pressed text. The inside is a padded interior with 2 piece CD wallet cases, which are very nice. The book is high quality and very informative.
I’m just going to post about the unreleased stuff, as we’ve heard the other released stuff already.
Disc One:
The demo version/alternate of I’m Falling is featured here.
Same Old Madness is new. It’s a never before heard studio version and differs greatly to the two that we’ve already heard.
I’ll Do Anything For You is a different mix than what Al released for free. It sounds like the same foundation tracks, but mixed differently and with different effects. The older vocals are more obvious in this version.
***He’s Angry is a shorter version that what we’ve heard before, and elements of The Nature of Outtakes are mixed in. It’s really bizarre. **(This is actually a pressing error, see replacement info below)
I See Red is a never before heard studio version, the best version by far.
***Where Are You At Now is not what you think. It’s actually a variation of The Nature Of Love (Cruelty Mix). This should have been labeled as version C of that track. **Not sure yet, but this might appear on the re-pressing of disc one, see below.
Disc Two: The With Sympathy demos are exactly the same as the ones that leaked not too long ago. They are not home demos, but are alternate studio cuts. The unreleased songs are great! Let’s Be Happy and Same Old Scene are excellent. It sounds like they come from a first or second generation sources.
(No need to address Revco or Side Trax discs note: Supernaut on this disc is Al and not Trent)
Disc Seven: The live 82 cuts sound like they come from a first generation source. They have some of the same flaws as what we’ve heard, but they certainly sound better.
Revco’s Fish In Cold Water clocks in at 6 minutes of dancey funk with vocals by Luc Van Akcer. More poppy sounding than what is on BSL.
Self Annoyed is an outtake from The Land of Rape and Honey. There are a couple of loops that were reused for “Destruction”, but this has it’s own set of lyrics and vocals by Al (doing a very good Ogre impression)
Don’t Stand In Line is a vintage remix and not the remixxx that Al released recently.
Supernaut is the Trent version. The Dub Version is also a vintage sounding remix.
The vinyl is clear and sounds great. It comes from a better source than the bootleg that’s floating around and even has an announcer introducing the band, which isn’t on the bootleg version. Very cool.
That’s about it. This is a 10/10 set, Cleo did a great job. It sounds great and looks great. If you’re on the fence about getting this, do yourself a favor and get it!!
I need to catch up on some sleep, but feel free to ask away and I’ll answer any questions you may have.
Bisquit and Wemp…would love to hear your thoughts when you guys have a chance.
*edit: Bisquitodoom gets a special thanks in the liner notes! Way to go bisquit!! [cool]
