2010

What’s coming out in 2010 - music wise?

There’s a few that I can think of off the top of my head, as well as a few hopefuls…

Killing Joke

new album with original line up out in April

Secret Chiefs

Book Of Souls (finally) to be released in April.

Tool

Hopefully a new album should rear its head in the next 12 months. Supposedly they are in the finishing stages of writing the album. Probably my most anticipated.

Neurosis

Due for a new one. Nothing confimed.

Aphex Twin

Had heard some time ago there was a new album ready and waiting. Haven’t heard anything since then. Seeing as it’s Aphex Twin we’re taling about…anything could happen.

Melvins

New album for May. Yay!!

Jesu

One would think there’d be a new Jesu this year.

Boris

Due for a new one. Supposedly out around June/July

Earth

Hopefully a new album this year

Burzum

New album Belus out in April

Whitehouse

Also a new William Bennett solo release under the Cut Hands moniker.

Then of course there’s also new Ministry and Coil dvds!

Melvins (very excited for this, it’s going to be a completly different sounding album I’m sure)
Scorn (last Scorn album :frowning: )
Skinny Puppy
ohGr
Rapoon (green death I still owe you that Reformed Faction mp3, coming this weekend sorry! )
I’m sure Mark Spybey will have some new Dead Voices on Air out by year’s end.
Pop Levi

that’s about all I can think of at the moment. But hell yes, new Melvins in May!!

Massive Attack’s new album comes out soon.

Broadrick is working on another jesu album this year, whether it gets released this year is uncertain, they usually get delayed. Still waiting for that re-release of ‘Heart Ache’ with the extra e.p.

New Boards of Canada this year too. Supposedly they were putting fine touches to two different albums last year (maybe a full length and an e.p.?)

Possiblity ofKing Crimson activity this year too.

Hopes: Godflesh goes for more than just one show and Swans reform.

So richards back to using the aphex twin name again?

off the top of my head i can think of
a new deftones is coming out
new type O
unreleased soundgarden
new john frusciante solo stuff
new stp
new revco and al’s solo cd

Rob Zombie
Murder By Death
Current 93
Joanna Newsom
Al Jourgensen & Mark Thwaite
Stayte

New Tool would be a welcome.

Don’t know if it will happen this year or early 2011. If history is anything to go by, I’d say it’s more likely the latter.

I haven’t bought a Jesu release since the Eluvium split, so I couldn’t be bothered either way. If it’s another poppy, shoegazing affair I’ll give it a wide berth.

Merzbow will probably release several dozen albums by years end. Ditto Acid Mothers Temple.

Supposedly Sunn O))) have collaborated with Ulver on an upcoming album.

I can’t think of anything else right now.

I’d kinda rather some A Perfect Circle than Tool to be honest. They’ve been talking about “reforming” for at least a couple songs. Hopefully the new puppy can get released. Same with the new ohgr. There’s a few things coming out this year. I think there’s another Sigur Ros album too (not sure if anyone here’s into that one). Jonsi certainly has a solo coming out in march that i’ll definitely be picking up.

That Burzum is a biggie.

Lots of metal releases and what-not I’ll look forward to this year, but a top one for me is the new Weedeater which is to be recorded this month.

Secret Chiefs

Book Of Souls (finally) to be released in April.

Sweet, I just read this will supposedly have Brazen Serpent on it.

Very interesting.

Looking forward to the new Darkthrone as well.

Deicide

How many albums has Killing Joke made with the full original lineup? I really like their debut album, but not much after that.

Die Krupps is supposed to come out with a new one in the spring, their first since 1997 or thereabouts.

How many albums has Killing Joke made with the full original lineup?

They made 3 with original line up.

And then Jazz and Youth fucked off to Iceland.

You could almost buy those three albums and be done with it.

This is looking to be a very good year in music, but I don’t know how Sunn O))) and Earth will top their last efforts, and Tool’s best album is way, way behind them…

But, I guess that’s why they’re in the business of making music. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Aphex Twin? Who knows. Drukqs was severely underrated. It’s been disappointing to see little output other than the ‘12 Mixes for Cash’ and Analord series… not bad by any stretch, but he could do way better.

And as for Burzum? The way he pussed out with the whole ‘White God’ fiasco just reeked of the sort of person who could only stab a mate in the dark when he least expected it… [crazy]

check the wiki page for richard james, it says he’s been putting out music under the name the tuss for a while now

New Sunn O))) and Earth are high on my list of anticipated. Same goes for Boris, who are criminally ignored on this site.

As far as Tool goes, I’d like to see something a little punchier and aggressive this time round. This is also high on my list.

Will it be released in 2010 though? I seriously doubt it. Whole civilisations rise and fall in between Tool albums. Ridiculous really.

I love Aphex Twin and I loved Drukqs. I’ll believe there’s a new Aphex album when I see it however.

Well Maynards about to launch another tour for Puscifer. This time the east coast. So his involvement in making any new tool, probably won’t began untill at least when that’s over with.
BTW anybody know when the NYC dates go on sale? I think it’s this or next week.

Ooh, Atlanta Mar. 2-3.
Thanks for the heads-up - I’d be happy if Maynard did Puscifer for the rest of his life and Tool never did anything else.

BTW, the reason Tool records take so long doesn’t have anything to do with Maynard. It’s the other guys with their complicated musical noodlings. That stuff’s not hard to write or learn to play, so it takes them a heckuva a long time, during which Maynard does all his various side-projects.

I don’t mind what he’s doing Puscifer as a comedic/cabaret act, but that album was fucking bollocks. A clever way to test the patience of the acolytes and devotees.

I agree with skarekroe… they’re the sort of guys to jam fuckloads, record it and dissect it and find the ‘buried treasure’, then write a fuckload of charts, etc etc… I’m just saying this from various first hand accounts I’ve read in interviews, and there’s generally a sense of respect underlying those statements
