Going back to The Warriors, that director’s cut with the comic cut scenes was lame.

Did he add any scenes or make any changes to the film apart from adding those comic bits? I must check it out at some point, it’s possible i was just not in the mood for it when i saw it.

I didn’t mind the comic cut scenes at all…dude,The Warriors rules any way you slice it…Baseball Furries ftw!!!

Oh aye, you cannot beat a bit of Lance. Great actor, i’m a big fan.

I was thinking of all the weird straight to video/B-movie shit the guy did yet he was also in some iconic box office smashes/critical smashes as well(Close Encounters,Dog Day Afternoon,Network,The Right Stuff to name a few)…

Do you remember that weird early 80s flick called Nightmares that he was in? It was a trilogy of stories if memory serves…I remember Emilio Estevez in that computer game story…and the story they ripped off from Speilberg’s Duel…I saw that film when it came out in 83 on a cruise ship…I went to Hawaii with my parents and some of my parents friends…they showed that movie on the cruise and we snuck in there and saw it…don’t think I’ve seen it since except once on late night cable I saw part of it…don’t think it’s ever had a dvd release…

Don’t think there were any other changes…I’ll have to double check…been in the mood for it anyways…

Man, i think i may have seen Nightmares when i was a kid, one of my friends mentioned it recently and i was going “Nah, i don’t think i’ve seen it”, i was pretty adamant, but then he mentioned a couple of things that made me think i did see it after all.

I wonder was Lance annoyed when James Cameron secured Arnie for the lead in The Terminator, as far as i heard he was actually due to play the part of the T800 and the got moved to playing Lt Traxler instead. He’s had some great parts, even in the crap films. He has the greatest voice ever as well. I always enjoyed his blowhard gunslinger, Ace, in The Quick and the Dead, it’s fantastic when he and Gene Hackman face off against each other.

FUCK YES!!! Too bad they got their asses handed to them.

I’ve always wondered what The Terminator would have been like with Lance…

I can’t remember The Quick and the Dead…Raimi, correct?

I’m trying to track down a copy of Nightmares as we speak…so much for getting work done today…

It certainly is, it has some of his greatest crazy camera work, i love it. Fantastic cast, Gene Hackman, Di Caprio, Russell Crowe, Sharon Stone, Keith David and load of other well known faces. Well worth checking out. It takes some elements of spaghetti westerns and really ramps them up, like the reverse zooms on people’s eyes. Cool film.

I saw it around the time it came out but was probably distracted while watching it cuz I remember very little of it…was a big Raimi fan up to that point to…I’ll give it another go…

Nice. You guys rule. I love that you’re celebrating some unsung heroes of cinema past.

One dude that I’ve come to be a HUGE fan of in the last year from watching “Twilight Zone” is CLAUDE AKINS (aka “Sheriff Lobo”). The dude is just friggin’ awesome.

BJ and the muthafukin Bear…fond memories of that show…that was a big one for me growing up…I watched that and Starsky and Hutch religiously…

Claude Akins is one of those old bad ass dudes you always saw on Bonanza,Gunsmoke and all those types of shows…usually played some evil land baron or some shit…great actor who had a real menace…

Pretty much every badass show from the late 70’s through the 80’s had a kickass car or vehicle. It’s like each show was totally defined by the car.

KITT, Airwolf, General Lee, C.O.Y.O.T.E., the A-Team Van, BJ’s Rig . . . I could go on forever.

You couldn’t just have a show about people doing stuff . . . they had to do it in a totally kickass ride!

Haha, i was just talking to my brother the other day about Claude Akins, we saw someone in a film and he said “Who’s that guy again?”, all i could think was “He really looks like Claude Akins”. Did he host some kind of Believe It Or Not-type show as well? I do remember BJ and the Bear, my favourite show as a kid (because there was a big truck in it) but i don’t think they ever showed Sheriff Lobo here. To quote Homer Simpson, “Lobo… Lobo… Bring back Sheriff Lobo!”

~ I’ll add Hardcastle and McCormick to the list of shows with impressive vehicles. Well, i thought so at the time anyway.

Yeah, “Hardcastle and McCormick” was the one with the COYOTE. We all thought it was totally badass when we were kids, then 20 years later it’s like . . . “What the heck is that hideous piece of crap, anyway?”

Holy crap . . . . .

You can buy the actual car for $30K, hahahaha!!!

I got The Warriors on Blu-ray from Netflix yesterday…the extended version.

Is that the one with the intro by Walter Hill and some kind of 300-type comic book thing at the start?[/reply]

I have that one but it isn’t the Blu-ray…I’m curious if the Blu-ray is something else…

Intro with Walt…I’ll check it out this weekend.

The wheels still look pretty cool at least…

There were a lot of those “kit cars” back in the 80’s. Goofy bodies made mostly out of fiberglass for installation on an existing chassis. You’d see 'em on the road . . . they were usually thrown on a Volkswagen or something.

This one actually has some pretty kickass sounding specs, though, as it seems to have been built for some righteous action.

Lance is a super nice guy in real life as well. his autobiography (the second best title for an autobiography ever, ‘Not Bad For A Human’) is a REALLY good read.

and yes, Pumpkinhead is one of my all time favorite films. by and far one of the most unsung beauties in horror history.

as for Johnny Handsome, i love Rourke and i will watch just about anything with him in it… and i have seen some stinkers, but he is a classy actor who always delivers. Pope of Greenwitch Village, DINER, so on and so forth… i loved Johnny Handsome, as silly as it can be seen as.

now, all of your talk about old tv shows… im not old enough to play along with that. haha. so instead i will just keep talking about how much i love Mickey Rourke. anyone here see The Wrestler?

I LOVED “The Wrestler”.

RAM JAM!!!
