Top 3 Megadeth albums

Dae only replaced the vox because the original tracks were lost. He actually replaced solos, though? Someone told me that in high school, but I didn’t believe it was true. Does he do that any of the other remasters? I know some songs are either shorter or longer on some of them.

For anybody with 90 minutes to kill, here’s their Behind The Music.

Peace Sells is really the only album I like. A couple tracks off of So Far, So Good were ok.

“In My Darkest Hour” is one of the coolest metal songs ever. The marching guitar riffs are just so sexy.

I agree. That was the track I was referring to.

I only saw them once, at the Big 4 show. And live, they were the weakest as well. No crunch, thin guitar sound, more reminiscent of their “alternative rock” sound on Risk. Vocally, as previously mentioned, he was pretty weak as well.

But then again, it was a huge outdoor venue. Maybe they’d sound better indoors.

Yeah, I read that in the liner notes of the remixed album. But based on what he did with the rest of the music I’m calling bullshit on that. I think he just wanted to redo the vocals. Besides how you “lose” the vocal tracks but have everything else? wouldn’t it stand to reason that it would all be kept together?

He actually replaced solos, though?

Yeah, I only listened to it once, so I’m going off of memory here but I’m sure Holy Wars had a different end solo and the one before it was at an odd point in the song and the solo for Hangar 18 was different as well… I think he extended it… can’t remember really on Hangar 18 but I’m pretty sure that was different

Marty Friedman’s solo in “Hangar 18” is one of the best metal solos, if not THE BEST metal solo of all time. It’s too bad he’s having too much fun watching Dragon Ball Z and banging 14 year old school girls in Japan, because his return to MEGADETH would be triumphant!

best Megadeth album, easily. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YH29eHwVMnc&list=PLE744926914D53BB2&index=2

but i dig Rust in Peace and Peace Sells.

i donno though… Megadeth feels… bitter and flat to me for the most part. i WAY prefer Anthrax. also Death Angel. and Exodus. and Armored Saint. and a few dozen other classic thrashers.

MD.45 is virtually unlistenable.

I heard it once and hated it. It’s too clean for Lee Ving to sing on and too mild for Mustaine.

newb here.

  1. Killing Is My Business
  2. Peace Sell
  3. So Far So Good So What

Then they went too Iron Maidenish for me. The first two are favorites because of Gar Samuellson’s loose Jazz-type drumming.

Peace Sells is really the only album I like. A couple tracks off of So Far, So Good were ok.

Yeah, I’ll go along. Peace Sells and Rust In Peace are the only 2 I own a physical copy of. Beyond those two albums I have little love for this band. Especially from about 1995 when they became completely unlistenable crap.

Mustaine on the other hand was an arrogant fuck and was completely rude and standoffish.

That’s how he was in 95 or 96 when the band rolled into the in n out burger i was working at. I didnt bother trying to talk to him or get an autograph. Shortly after he was mobbed by skaters and parents.

bah!

i guess part of my love for the album may be nostalgia based. i picked up a copy of it the same day i saw ‘Streets Of Fire’ for the first time, so i was just sold on Lee Ving being a badass. haha. and i love his swaggering bluesy voice over the kinda ‘in the pocket’ rock/thrash stylings.

Megadeth is guitar music at its basis. Once Dave ended the pissing contest with Hammett and likely every other thrash guitarist and let his inferiority complex become about gaining rock radio staples then Megadeth becomes mostly insufferable as well. I don’t want to hear Dave singing about his problems over mid-tempo and sort of catchy rock songs. Leave that noise to the Scott Weilands & Nickelbackers of this world.

I’m judging this on Youthanasia and Cryptic Writings and I understand it only gets worse. Songs like “Tornado of Souls” and “Wake Up Dead” are live staples for a goddamn reason. They’re fast, don’t use repeated choruses as a crutch for being unable to write a memorable riff and more importantly they awaken my pulse. I’ve seen Megadeth three times. That’s a lot for someone as casual as me. I’ve been in the lawn/back seating area for all three where it’s easy to observe the massive change in energy when he deviates from the RiP/Peace Sells scorchers. I’m happy Dave & the boys have the good sense to play their regarded songs.

In short, Dave Mustaine is the only person in rock and metal history who shouldn’t have been allowed creative freedom of any kind.

I fucking love Streets of Fire, love Walter Hill in general. Everything about it is great, especially lovely Diane Lane, wow!! “I can get guns, tough guy, lots of 'em!”

We may bag on Dave Mustaine for being a born again Christian/Republican

I would bag on him for being in Megadeth. And for being a redhead.

I just wanna know where I should go next.

Out. Obviously.

By the way, I’ll be seeing them in December.

Make sure you’re home by February.

If it was in 95 or 96 then they must have been asking for their money back!

MEGADETH TO PERFORM AT GEORGE JONES TRIBUTE CONCERT

Megadeth will take part in remembering a country music legend. The band is among the latest additions to the upcoming tribute concert honoring the late Country Music Hall of Famer George Jones. The show will take place at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Friday, November 22.

Megadeth will contribute a performance of Jones’ song “Wild Irish Rose”. Dave Mustaine admits the song “may be an unexpected choice”, given Jones’ extensive catalog of hits. But he says the 1998 single is “a perfect example of Mr. Jones’ way of reaching inside every one of us, and making us aware that we all have pain”.

Megadeth is part of an extensive and primarily country music lineup for the event, dubbed “Playin’ Possum! The Final NO Show”. Kid Rock and R&B star Sam Moore are also on board for the concert, along with Charlie Daniels, Brad Paisley, Blake Shelton, Reba McEntire, and many, many more.

I fucking love Streets of Fire, love Walter Hill in general. Everything about it is great, especially lovely Diane Lane, wow!! “I can get guns, tough guy, lots of 'em!”

Southern Comfort is another AMAZING movie from the Hill.

yeah, Walter Hill used to be a benchmark, recently i have been less interested in his newer stuff, and i really didnt enjoy Deadwood all that much, i didnt even finish it actually. but Alien 1-3, The Warriors, Streets of Fire, Southern Comfort… his success list just goes on. haha.
