If I were to do this I’m pretty sure that Nikki Sixx’s “Life Is Beautiful” would be some where on that list toward the top, right behind the Plain White T’s “Hey There Delilah”

Yeah great album although I thought Strawberry Jam was much stronger. There was also ALOT of hype surrounding MPP so I guess I was expecting something better than Strawberry Jam which imho didn’t happen.
Have you heard Akron/Family Peligro? If not check out the following albums…if you dig those go backwards to their first which is a very mellow affair.
Akron/Family/Angels Of Light split album
Love Is Simple
Set’em Wild, Set’em Free
Oy vey, I can’t do it. But here’s the ol’ college try in no particular order…
Tim Hecker - Harmony in Ultraviolet
Boards of Canada - Music has the right to children
Mogwai - Happy songs for happy people
Men’s Recovery Project - Bolides over Basra
Coil - Black Antlers
Death in June - Alarm Agents
Converge - Jane Doe
Duchess Says - Anthologie
Aesthetic Perfection - A Violent Emotion
Goldfrapp - Black Cherry
This is a hard task. There’s been so much good music in the last 5 or 6 years it makes my head spin.
The latest Throbbing Gristle would be right up there as would the last few Coil albums. A heap of black/dark ambient metal too. Not to mention a ton of releases off Southern Lord.
Primal Scream “Evil Heat”
Their last two albums are horrendous - especially Riot City Blues. Utterly atrocious music. And this is coming from someone who has Screamadelica on vinyl and on cd and who has seen them in concert 3 times.
The little I heard of the last Primal Scream didn’t do it for me, but Evil Heat is awesome, my friend! Kevin Shields does a great job on production, it sounds like an electro-industrial bastard MBV with PS vox and I think the album holds up better than does Xterminator, which is still quite fine.
I should have included Coil’s “Ape of Naples”, loved that. The new TG was good, but didn’t really get a lot of listens from me, I’d have rather it been Chris, Peter and Cosey sans Gen. Gen can be a bit much.
Nearly impossible, but i’m just going to go with whatever comes to mind first, and in no particular order:
Mer de Noms - A Perfect Circle
Ghosts - Nine Inch Nails
Devils In My Details - ohGr
Bloodflowers - The Cure
Yanqui U.X.O - Godspeed You Black Emperor
Future Perfect - Autolux
Turn On The Bright Lights - Interpol
Fear Of A Blank Planet - Porcupine Tree
Takk - Sigur Ros
and on a whim…
Love - Foetus
