today tiger woods had a televised admission of his sexual transgressions with numerous beautiful young women. inherent in the speech was the “two-faced” aspect many are giving more importance than it deserves.

for me, I don’t care how many people he’s fucked. he’s a golfer, for god’s sake. I’ve never bought a product based on tiger woods’ promotion. tiger can do whatever the fuck he wants to do – in my book.

we live in this trash culture that feeds on the failings of pop celbrities when we should be concentrating on OUR lives.

I agree with you but I do think many celebrities have some certain responsibility to people who admire them. For years, while promoting their sport or personality, they tend to partake in a lot of social programs and become role models for many children and what not. I think when these athletes mess up, they apologize to these people. That, and also to finally close the chapter on it.

I’m undecided on the “privacy” aspect of things with celebrities… If these people are barging into my house on advertisements and what not then I think they open themselves up for ridicule and do not have the luxury of a “private life”

As far as them being “role models,” no way!! because if you, as a parent, are letting some celebrity teach your child values, then your kid is doomed to begin with. The apology was laborious and I think Woods is a bit of a phoney, you can see it at various points of the speech. He seems almost robotic, like he’s been cut off from humanity.

On the issue of infidelity, I couldn’t give a ha’penny f*** who screws who, where and when. Woods however has (or had) a load of sponsorship deals and is a very public figure. I don’t believe he’s obliged to be a “good” guy but at the same rate the guy is a billionaire from all these deals and has some educational project that he set up with his dad. When there are children involved there needs to be responsibility, not necessarily preaching sleeping around is bad but cheating on your wife who gave birth to your kid is. Woods is right though about the nitty gritty of the cheating being no one else’s business.

I think pro golf sucks and he’s by no means the only golfer who’s been screwing around. Golfing in some places is still a sexist institution, not allowing women to become members. They’re full of overweight snobs thinking they are somebody.

He has let down not only his family, but his business partners who paid him gobs of money to promote their business/products. They trusted him to keep his image and reputation clean, which is why he got the endorsements in the first place.

We shoud not care as a society, but we do. Yes he is a golfer but his status was for being more than a golfer. YOu are a billionaire because you let us look into your life on a daiy basis. Look at John Daly. He will never has the success Tiger did because he was so unapologetic about his shortcomings. And he was a damn good golfer when he started out.

Its like winning the lotterey and complaining about the taxes. The scrutinty of your personal life now comes with the terriory.
