Thrill Kill Kult - Spooky Tricks Tour 2014

Really wish I had a pic or 2 to go with my story this time. But I was in party mode, and I’ve officially gone down to lightweight! I only had one AMF after the guitarist of the opening band hooked me up for taking pics during his set. There was a point where I was dancing to Toxic Rainbow (that is when the generic dubstep bpm wasn’t in full effect). Haha, even Groovie Mann was hatin on him after the show! I then smoked some really good pot with a friend before TKK came on, and I luckily timed it perfect because the lights went off seconds after we got back in their.

TKK finally went on around 10:45, and the first detail I must give is that Mimi Star gets better with each tour. It was especially nice to hear her do a little bit of vox and to see how her and Groovie vibed off each other on stage. I still am not very familiar with the new songs, but they translated well live. That’s actually an understatement! They only kept 3 songs in the set from the last tour, and like you said earlier realm, it was a good mix of new, old favorites and deep cuts. It’s hard to single out a specific favorite moment out of the set, but I was happy with the song choices, and they kept true to their word that they would bust out a couple Inferno Xpress songs. Surprise of the night, as far as the deep cuts go, was “Chemical Cop Out” during the encore.

Now we get to after the show. I literally had only minutes to catch the last Bart train out of there, but only made it 4 blocks up the street and wound up missing it by 5 minutes and didn’t get to go to this party I wanted to go to. I did see TKK’s vehicle still parked in front of the DNA Lounge. I say the term vehicle, cuz I had never seen one like it before. Not quite a van, but certainly not a tour bus either. Groovie pops up after a little while. I was fully coherent, let alone sure I wanted to chat with him, but we exchanged a glance and I figured it was now or never. I went and shook hands with him and told him that it was the best show I had ever seen. Also mentioning that they had ended Marilyn Manson’s near decade reign as being the best show I’ve ever seen. Groovie’s face lit up with a big smile and a “really?” as if he were a little kid. Short chat, but I didn’t wanna take up his time as we walked to DNA Pizza next door. Mimi then walks in and I’m surprised she actually recognized me from Facebook. It’s very interesting how she can go from being hella sexy on stage, to being the most adorable woman you’ve ever met. She was rather hammered and slurring her words, which is quite funny considering she still doesn’t speak perfect English. Her and I chatted for a bit and she kept pushing for me to sit by Groovie, which I finally obliged. He and I chatted about random things, mostly music related, and a little bit of drugs. We’re both the same in that we smoke pot more than we drink, but he still prefers shrooms over acid and I’m vice-versa. DNA Pizza shows obscure music videos all throughout the night and we were poking fun at a really early video from Adam Ant. Then a Cabaret Voltaire video came on and Groovie got into it. He left about half way into the song, and then the worst video ever came on:

Buzz then walks in. Mimi tries to get us to meet, but Buzz looks like he wants nothing to do with me haha. I chatted with her for a little bit longer and even met her husband who’s also real nice. I was actually a little sad to see the band drive off, which usually doesn’t happen. I wound up getting a free slice of pizza since one of the guys who worked at DNA Pizza knew I was stranded out there. He even offered me a free shot during the last call, but I didn’t really wanna be more fucked up than I already was because it’s not like I was gonna chill with the band all night, nor did I have any friends to talk to.

So there’s my tale. Stay tuned on prongs for Part 3 of My Night With The Thrill Kill Kult.

EDIT: When Groovie noticed my Cocksure shirt, he grabbed my chest where it said Cock.

Cool story Eureka! Very jealous that you got to hang with Groovie.

I was right in front of the stage by Mimi the entire show. She would often look down and smile at me when Groovie was being over the top silly. I shook hands with her as the band left the stage, I could tell she was complete sweetheart.

Justin is also a cool dude. I hung out with him for a few a decade ago (YIKES!) when he played drums for Skinny Puppy.

I was at the Whiskey show last night. Started out a little rough, but they worked into a groove. Dug that they busted out some obscure tracks.

The lady really wanted a poster, so we got one and managed to get Groovie and Buzz to sign it.

Fun show.

I really wanted the shirt with the tour dates, but only had a enough to get there and back. I’m sure they’ll have some available online in a week or 2. And I may even fork out the cash for the other shirt, even though I compared it to finding it at a Halloween store for half the price.

I got the Xian Zombie Vampyre one.

Sick, fucking show. A lot of tracks from the new album which I’m perfectly OK with; the new album rocks. Neon Diva live with the visuals was very cool. They played one song they hadn’t played at any shows prior, it was a new one and I didn’t catch the name of it. They put some nice twists on the older songs, I liked hearing everyone yell in unison as opposed to just Groovy for the beginning of Daisy Chain 4 Satan. Burning Dirt sounded particularly good that evening. I was the guy leading the yells during the encore intermission.

Bless the lady at the bar for serving up everything triple sized.

Good times!

Neon Diva was awesome! I also screamed during Daisy Chain. In fact I can’t decide if it was that song or Swine Xpress that has made me currently a little raspy. I too was leading in the chant for the encore, but that was by default cuz there wasn’t as big of a turnout this time. And that was a hell of an encore too. I nearly left after “And This Is What The Devil Does,” but I knew "Death Threat was gonna pop up in the set and I really didn’t wanna miss that one. Also “Rivers Of Blood, Years Of Darkness” really got me going, and “After The Flesh” sounded much better this time around, even though Groovie kept repeating the 3rd verse over and over again.

Probably gonna be my last post in this thread, unless I feel the need to comment further. Interview with Groovie I found a couple weeks ago. Funny interview, other than it being obvious that he really doesn’t like Al very much anymore.

They played After the Flesh at your show? I’m jealous!

That’s what they closed with.

Thanks for the link. Sounds like Al might not have been truthful (shocking) about that blowjob.

Glad to hear the TKK SF show was awesome. I’m still sorry that I missed it, BUT I did end up running into Bill Rieflin that night in Seattle. Win some-lose some.

What’s Mr. Rieflin up to these days?

In a diary entry dated September 6, 2013, Robert Fripp announced a new lineup for King Crimson that included Rieflin as one of the band’s members.

Bill is such a bad ass. 1000 homo DJs to King Crimson. Fuck Yea! We’re all losers compared to this guy.

Yeah,to bad about that speed bump called REM…

We both happened to be going to Kraftwerk 3-d. Right before I entered the venue, I saw the light of his hair and after overcoming my disbelief, went up and talked to him.
I had literally talked about him that same morning, as I do most mornings.

I TOTALLY made sure to mention 1000 homo dj’s!! and to hold his hand…

He’s incredibly nice and charming.

You held hands with Bill Rielfin and I got felt up on by Groovie Mann. I’d say we both came out of that night better people.

I think we need Rev and his beautiful wife in this thread post haste.

Rieflin made out the best.
I’d rather hold hands with Filthpig than be fondled by Groovie.

WELL DUH!!!

By the way, a new Darling Kandie album is in the works. Groovie is looking for a producer and I think he’s calling the album Fashion By Evil.
