I might try and go to multiple shows this time. I meant to catch them in SF and LA last time since the two dates were spaced out in time, but couldn’t make it to LA.
I would probably be there myself if it was a day or two later. Spooky Tricks is coming very soon, and need I also mention that some of the Inferno Xpress songs will be making it into the set this time around.
Are TKK still good live? First I saw gem was off Sexplosion and they were amazing. Seen them maybe 3-4 times since and felt they got a little worse each time. Last time I saw them was on the Evil Doer tour, where they absolutely sucked. It was a sad moment (though that was turned around when Ministry did a shockingly energetic and good set right after).

Yeah,I saw them on some bill with Pigface a while back and they were god awful…it was unbearable to watch…me and my friends went outside and hung out while they were on…
I first caught them 2 years ago and it’s in my top 5 best shows of all time. I did find a clip from Evil Doer and I see why everyone says they sucked. Someone on here (JLW?) said Groovie Mann had a little problem with the booze for awhile, so maybe that was a factor to them sucking. Also, the 2000’s wasn’t the best time for them as far as albums go. Gay, Black and Married and The Resurrection of Luna are probably the weakest in their entire discography.
TKK seems to suck every other tour. They’ve paired down the members over the years, so it just depends when you see them. A couple years back, I saw them at this tiny club and it was just Frankie, Buzz and some kid playing bass. No drums, no “show” of any kind. It was basically TKKaraoke. I got pissed and vowed I wouldn’t bother with them again.
Then they did that tour with Lords of Acid and got Levi and Jacqui back. It was spectacular. Like the old days.
Last time I caught them was the Wax Trax Retrospectacle in Chicago. Levi was gone again, but it was still a great show.
When it gets a little closer, let’s see what the line up is.
The lineup this time will have Mimi Star on bass, Westin Halvorsen on guitar, and Justin Bennett of Skinny Puppy on drums. Arena Rock and Viva Nova returned for the new album, but I’m not sure if they’ll be part of the tour. I did see footage of that TKKkaraoke acid was talking about and I too would be disappointed.
That sample I posted is one of the songs that got cut from the DVD. They got wrapped up in a documentary about the history of Wax Trax, so Retrospectacle got put on the back burner. They’re also being perfectionists with Retro. I guess we’ll have to call it the Chinese Democracy of DVD releases.
