The Your Fav Album/EP/12"/10"/7" Of The Moment Thread!

Was he ever a junkie?
When I saw him touring with KMFDM in the '90s he made a rather uncomfortable amount of heroin jokes and references onstage.

What Eureka said. The Grand Recordings stuff was a pretty bad experience. Some people flat out didn’t even get their stuff, which probably led to their end. I just think it’s a real shame that someone as talented as Watts is doing nothing, despite his reasonings.

Loved PIG when I was younger, these days I just can’t get into any of his stuff other than “Poke in the Eye” (which I still have a lot of love for). My passion may come back though, recently I’ve been into Front Line Assembly for the first time in a decade.

I love “Poke In the Eye”. He was actually way ahead of KMFDM with the metal/industrial thing - I think they were still on UAIOE at that point.

Personally, I think he was way ahead of KMFDM for the most part of the 90s. KMFDM did naive, and he did Praise The Lard, which is a pretty epic fucking album. All matter of opinion, but as much as I love the albums from naive onwards, Raymond truly hit the mark of the two up until he did Genuine American Monster, when he began to falter musically imo.

GAM aint that bad. It has nothing on Wrecked or any of the other 90’s albums but its still decent for the most part. It does tend to drag on after A Fete Worse Than Deth though.
I actually forgot to mention that he had also mentioned putting out a best of compilation a few years ago, but I guess thats another thing to add on to the list of stuff he’s talked about doing but never did…

I like GAM and Pigmata/Pigmartyr. They just don’t come close to Wrecked and the albums before it. Not bad album at all.

Pigmata is some of his best work IMO and thats mainly because it was a bit of a departure from the older albums. It had more of a metal feel to it which shows that Watts joined with the times a little bit. I’ve heard some ppl say that they were disappointed with the direction of that album but like I said it some of his best work…
Another thing I forgot to mention I had sent a message on myspace a few years ago asking if any of the older PIG albums were going to be remastered. Watts or someone in the PIG camp replied that they were working on it. They just had to see what the old contracts were like. It’d be cool if he reissued some of his stuff that only got released in japan like No One Gets Out Of Her Alive, even though some of the trax from there made it onto the american release of Wrecked

Pigmata was a big departure. But the thing that I like the most (same with Foetus) is how there’s heavy guitar, electronics, and samples of orchestras and classical music, even latin. Pigmata was very straight forward industral-rock compared to the others. I liked it, but I missed the samples that got me into Pig in the first place.

Who the hell is PIG??

What I also liked about Pigmata was that for once there was live bass on there!

I actually just ordered Pigmata and recieved it a few days ago. Still yet to spin it, it’s on my backlog.

I have most of the easy to find pig stuff… wrecked, praise the lard, pigmata, GAM, sinsation, etc. It’s all good. Every cd is pretty much different. I think alot of people like the wrecked era stuff cause he had this dark goth jim morrison shtick going that the dude from HIM could only dream of achieving. Ray def. has alot of talent and his classical sampling is always top notch. I doubt kmfdm would ever have had songs like DIY if it wasn’t for watts’ influence.
Live he definately made alot of references to shooting up and heroin. I remember he’d keep smacking beer cans into his arm like he was tapping to fix and then opening the can and beer flying all over everybody. sucks to hear his wife divorced him. He seemed to be a dedicated guy, met him a few times and he’s huge (tall) and very thin and polite as could be… opposite of what you’d expect.
(removes lips from ass)

I met him after a KMFDM show in '03(WWIII tour). I got his autograph but he didn’t really say anything. I think maybe its cause I kept yelling Pig at him to get his attention cause I forgot his name was Raymond. I actually hadn’t heard PIG or much from KMFDM before that night, so to get introduced to Watts music and meeting him in the same night is still something special. Not to mention I only knew his name was Raymond cause it said so on his mini amp that was attached to his pocket lol. I remember asking him if Lucia was gonna come out and he didn’t know who I was talking about. He has said in interviews that he was depressed back then so maybe he was in a bad mood. Or just annoyed for the aforementioned reason of yelling Pig at him. I still have the autograph as well as Lucias. I dont see why he wouldnt do another tour with KMFDM if hes not doing any PIG stuff at the moment…

He left KMFDM on some rather not-so-good terms. Seems pretty clear he won’t be coming back.

I’ve heard that but I’ve also seen in some interviews around the time of the last tour that he just wanted to go back to doing PIG again. I really dont know what to believe. Perhaps I’ll ask on theswining forum

sascha said in a recent interview i think with regen magazine online, that he would not be working with pig.
oh well. it’s fucked up though that he’s using pig’s band.

Wouldn’t it be better to discuss all this in a ‘Pig’ thread instead of hijacking the ‘Your Fave Album’ thread??

I wasnt expecting this to turn into a big PIG discussion myself haha. But its good to know that some ppl out there still care about PIG.

Hey Porky, did Sascha say anything else after that? Also I’ve come to find out that Watts pretty much got Steve White, Joolz Hodgson and Andy Selway into the whole KMFDM thing and that they seem to be pretty happy over there

They got tired of waiting on Raymond. KMFDM’s a lot more
steady-pace. Less work, less cash. Kmfdm usually releases
an album and tours every year or two. Steady cashflow. Can’t say I blame them. Watts burned a bridge with sascha over pigmartyr though. Album was supposed to be released by sascha’s label, but Ray was talked out of it, etc. etc. Stubborn old men. Period. Sascha, Esch and Raymond. All should forgive and play together again.
