Apparently he is really into fitness, so it wouldn’t surprise me.
The King looks good for a guy pushing 60.
He wouldn’t look out of place as a “fan” at just about any metal gig.
HAHAHA!!! So, I was curious who the openers would be for King Diamond.
The press release alone tells me everything I need to know.
Yeah, they’ll be crap.
Find me at the nacho bar.
Damn! It was AWESOME!!!
More later when I recover . . .
Don’t recover…just keep drinking…

Cool, can’t wait!
I wrote up a long detailed review about the show and my adventures but it deleted when I tried to post it. Lame.
Anyway, it was amazing. King sounded better than ever. The whole band did. And the stage set/ performance was just brilliant. Grandma was there, and they ended the show by putting the bitch cremating her in a coffin.
Highlight for most of us was the two Mercyful Fate songs “Evil” and “Come to the Sabbath”. Just brilliant!
Did you go out for a Denny’s later?
And what’s all this about a “nacho bar”? Please elaborate.
No nacho bar, but there was the Mexican lady selling bacon-wrapped hotdogs after the show. My jacket has some really awesome mustard stains now.
I went to Denny’s and put my name on the wait list and got impatient so I started walking home. That’s when it started pouring rain. I was really drunk. I got to my hotel and the door to it was locked, so I called them and cursed out the staff who said they unlocked it for me. Nope. Still locked. So I started doing crazy Ninja stunts to break into the garage and snoop down various back hallways and room floors. But it was to no avail. I still couldn’t find my hotel.
I think I must have been doing these drunken acts of idiocy for almost an hour before it occurred to me to check the address.
I was on the wrong block. It wasn’t even a hotel I’d broken into. It was an apartment building.
I don’t remember the opening band. At all.
I do know that I somehow either sneaked or fought my way to the front despite not having a pit ticket (and being turned away twice at the beginning). I don’t know if I jumped the wall or bumrushed the ramp or what. I wish I could tell ya.
The show was amazing. I really wish I hadn’t gotten so wasted beforehand so I could remember ALL of it. The fact that I blacked out a large portion of it makes me both scared and disappointed in myself.
Plus, I was solo so I don’t even have someone to give me a rundown of all the fights I was in or other mishaps.
I drank a 24oz of 12% LOKO on the way to the venue, then a few beers while in line, and I smuggled a 375ml bottle of Fireball into the show which I thought I’d be sharing with people but I just drank the whole thing.
I was also wearing a wristband for buying booze, so I think the celebration just carried on after that (Perhaps I was slamming 'em down during the opening band. Who knows.). I got a lot of cool bruises and was pretty sore on Saturday.
All in all, quite a night.
Check out “King Diamond Wiltern” on YouTube and a lot of videos (some fairly decent) come up which shows a good representation of the band and the crowd response (which was phenomenal).
Great recap…classic Gunnar…
Saw KD again last night! It was absolutely amazing. This was one of the “Abigail” anniversary shows, so they performed that album as part of the show. Ironically, that is probably the least listened to KD album in my collection. For me the highlight was everything else, but EVERYTHING sounded great and was accompanied with classic King theatrics. Grandma, burning witches, dancing demonic sluts, coffins, babies stabbed in the face . . . all the good stuff.
And King sounded even better than last year. It really blew us all away. The dude is about 60 and sounds better than he’s ever sounded. And the band was absolutely on point too. Every lick, note, and beat was perfect. I can’t say enough about this show.
I’ll fix the setlist once someone posts it from last night, but I think it was something like this (improvised from Thursday’s).
Welcome Home
Sleepless Nights
Come to the Sabbath
Halloween
Evil
Melissa
“Them”
Abigail

The Family Ghost
The 7th Day of July 1777

After the show, while I was outside waiting for my friends, this little Mexican dude tells me, “Hey, I remember you from last year, October 31! You gave me shot of Fireball, you remember?” I apologized for not remembering, but told him I was glad to meet him . . . again. A bunch of us were talking metal and about upcoming shows and my new homie ended up joining my friends and I for our traditional post-gig Denny’s.
I was also quite joyed to buy a bootleg t-shirt . . . . for $5! I was caught off guard as I thought I heard the guy wrong. “Did you say FIVE BUCKS?” I didn’t even haggle. Just gave him 3 crumpled ones and a two dollar bill and thanked him for doing business with me.
I’ll post a few pics later.
If anyone has a chance to see this tour, DON’T MISS IT!!! It’s really phenomenal.
I call this dude King Cubic Zirconia. He was about 400 lbs and in full KD makeup/ gear.
Lucky. Abigail is my favorite KD album.
Too many good shows in 2015, though I don’t regret blowing my load at/for/from Cold Waves.
way cool…I’ll be in NYC on the 21st. Can’t wait.

Yeah, I saw more shows in the last year than I typically see in about FIVE years, haha!
If you love Abigail you’re REALLY gonna dig the show.
I’m getting ready to Rock!
