You guys are all right about the show. I would have liked to hear some older stuff too. If I thought about it, it would probably get me pissed off too - so I don’t! LOL - I had a good time Sunday and I really don’t expect that much from Uncle Al. Plus I’m getting married Saturday so I’m probably in some kind of euphora.
Now saying who is and isn’t a ministry fan is BS. So by enjoying the show i’m not a real fan? Fuck that. maybe i’m just the pessimist who was glad to see the band one more time.

agreed. the pit for the one chicago show i saw was awesome. i usually don’t get too crazy in the pit anymore, but on thursday i was fucking possessed! i didn’t even hear burton’s vox, as inappropriate as they are, i just fucking flipped out on adrenaline and thrashed for the entire second half.
then they started oplaying covers. and i was like, wtf. and started to leave.
but back to the point i was trying to make: we are all ministry fans. anyone who starts the whole “real fan” crap is just doing the fanbase as a whole a disservice.
i bid ministry adieu! sad to see them go, no matter what they have been releasing lately.
Since I’m past the initial disappointment phase, I enjoy that they did the set they did. Even if you don’t like the new stuff, at least respect the fact that they did keep making new stuff to tour on. Primus are my favorite band and they havn’t released a new album since 1999. Every time they tour now it’s just beating a dead horse and doing the same stuff over and over. If you’ve seen them on multiple tours, there’s not much of a reason to go see them until they release something new, except that they jam out most of the songs in new ways. It would be nice to see them take the Ministry approach of making new albums every couple of years, playing that stuff for the tour, and moving forward.
If the idea of it being the last tour beforehand and teasing of playing through everything didn’t happen, I don’t think anyone would be as upset. It sucks that I never got to see filth pig material live but I do like all the stuff they played.
If you go to a movie two nights in a row, it will be the same. If you go to a ballet two nights in a row it will be the same. If you go to a play or a musical two nights in a row it will be the same. If you go see Celine Dion two nights in a row it will be the same. Why in the world would any expect Al to have a different show everything night? About the only thing an intelligent person who knows anything about anything would expect would be maybe some different dialog between songs. You just don’t pull songs out of your ass and play them like it is spreading butter on a slice of bread.
The oh so hated Trent Reznor did 3 different shows on 3 consecutive days with NIN in Lisbon last year…

What a loser, eh?[/reply]
I agree. Case and point = Last time I saw NIN was in 2005 when With Teeth dropped. Saw them both nights in Atlanta and they played a few core songs but the setlist was completely different. And Trent changes it up for just about every show from what I can see. So… what the hell?

EXACTLY god dammit.
It’s called ENTERTAINING YOUR FUCKING AUDIENCE.
There’s a REASON why it’s LIVE MUSIC IN AN AUDITORIUM
and NOT A FUCKING LIVE VIDEO PLAYED IN A MOVIE THEATRE.
Don’t fucking defend this shit anymore.
There’s no POINT.
Ministry was ALL ABOUT changing it up and doing something SPECIAL
every fucking time. Something different.

Really? Then how come the multiple boots from like 96 have pretty much the same set on each one? Maybe one has supernaut and one doesn’t, but the main set is pretty much the same.
Some bands mix it up live and play different sings every night. Some bands stick to the same set. Ministry sticks to the same set for the most part. That’s just how it is.

Oh give me a break. Here’s my point.
4 Nights in a row. Seriously.
There’s no way in hell it could ever be
the same show 4 times. over and over.
I mean isn’t that just a form of insanity?
Doing the exact same thing over and over
expecting different results? WTF?!
Not TO MENTION. You’re talking '96.
When there was DIVERSITY in the show.
They played different songs from different albums etc.
But hey okay I’m wrong. They ARE in fact playing different
songs from different albums. They just happen to be
the most recent 3 albums that came out a month
apart from eachother. NEW ministry which I don’t touch…
These conversations are redundant and beyond pointless.
We all know the truth of what’s going on with Ministry.
Someone said it in 2004 or something.
“Ministry is a sinking ship, and I’m getting off.”
But hey okay I’m wrong. They ARE in fact playing different
songs from different albums. They just happen to be

LOL - Let’s try almost 4 years apart. Personally I do like the newer stuff (and the old too). The Last Sucker has some great Ministry music on it. House of the Mole has kicks ass music too. This is music which apparently you are missing. It’s different tastes and I accept that, but I think the attitude is funny.
i think merrick is entitled to his opinion. and in the end, the big beef has been about the false advertising, to begin with.
sure, over the years there’s been a continuity of sets, with variations for encores that kind of shit, al’s voice, blah blah. but this was supposed to be a retrospective and it sure sounds like it was a lot of staring at the navel and saying, “oh yeah, did i do this yesterday? i dunno. let’s do it again!”
