That Metal Show

Someone just told me Al is going to be on it this season…haven’t had time to check and confirm…that should be a fun train wreck…hopefully the wine was flowing before taping…

A slew of guests have already been confirmed for the upcoming episodes including Myles Kennedy and Mark Tremonti of Alter Bridge, Randy Blythe and Chris Adler of Lamb of God, Corey Glover and Vernon Reid of Living Colour, and The Winery Dogs. Also confirmed to appear during Season 13 are Mick Mars, Ted Nugent, Ace Frehley, Peter Criss, Joe Satriani, Al Jourgensen, Morgan Rose, Frank Bello, and David Ellefson. Other guests are still being confirmed at this time with more to be named at a later date.

This season will mark some monumental changes for the show as it returns to New York City for Season 13. Previously, the show was taped over several days of one week out at Sony Studios in Los Angeles. The new season will be shot at Metropolis Studios on Tuesday nights for broadcast that Saturday. Season 13 will also consist of 12 new episodes making it the longest season in the show’s history. Fans can also catch the complete season 12 and brand new exclusive bonus clips at ThatMetalShow.VH1.com and in the new VH1 app. New episodes of season 13 will launch on the web and in the app every Sunday morning following the show’s on-air premiere.

These are the only two episodes of that list that are at all interesting to me:

Ace Frehley, Peter Criss (I hope they do the show together)
Al Jourgensen

I used to say Ted Nugent too, but his interview schtick has gotten stale, predictable, and boring.

I’ve never seen the show, it is any good? I must download some of it. I hear bookies have stopped taking bets against Al being drunk and making a total fool of himself…

I’m a big fan of Living Colour so I am interested in that one…and probably Mick Mars…not a Crue fan at all but I always admired him for being the odd man out…as for the rest,no thanks…

Yeah, Al’s ep will be interesting. He can’t be a bigger drunk mess than Marilyn Manson, right?

Right?

(Probably)

Who is Morgan Rose?

Who is Morgan Rose?

Drummer of Sevendust.

Blech,no wonder I didn’t know…

Nu-metal ca-ca…

The Metal Show, for those who have not seen it, is a trio of middle-aged rock and metal fans (Jim Florentine, Eddie Trunk, and another guy whose name I don’t know) who sit around talking about metal.

They bring on various guests and kiss their asses and have interview sessions and then argue about whether KISS or RUSH fans are more dedicated, and other stimulating topics.

For metal fans it’s sort of refreshing because you can see these stars interact with guys who actually know the genre and are fans as opposed to some jackass intern from MTV who drew the short straw and just read the Wiki entry on his iPhone 15 minutes earlier to find out who Blackie Lawless is.

How good an episode is really depends on the guests. I don’t watch it regularly but sometimes if I stumble on it and there’s someone I like on it (Iommi, Alice Cooper, Blackie, Dee Snider, etc.) I’ll watch it.

The three hosts are basically three nerds, and it’s a bit much to take sometimes, but like I said . . . it’s better than other stupid music interview shows that only pay lip service.

Yeah think the wayne’s world skits from saturday night live but with actual metal guests.

"What metal song is the best…?

“trooper by maiden.”

“Good call”

Don Jamieson (a comedian) is the other guy.

I enjoy the show, even though I probably disagree with about 90% of the opinions at any given time. And there’s not enough respect given to thrash on the show.

But I do love to hear Eddie rag on the R-n-R Hall of Fame.

I will give Eddie Trunk credit. That guy knows some pretty obscure info. Who played bass on some random Lita Ford album. Useless trivia night info.

I like the show…I met Eddie…very cool guy. He knows his shit for sure. Trying to get tickets this season.

I seem to recall that they were the opener on tour for someone.
Dammit, now I have to look that up because it will bug me.

Some band had 3 dudes sitting around talking on stage as an opener? That’s setting the bar pretty low as far as openers go… no matter how cool trunk and Florentine are

No, they did their comedy routine as the opener.

Hmmm…is that so.
