Fuck! Throbbing Gristle is on the line-up for Coachella.
I’ve never liked the idea of these big festivals where I have to sit through a bunch of bands I don’t care about to see some I do like, or being surrounded by so many people that the concert feels as impersonal as listening to my stereo anyway, and I really don’t want to travel across the country in the middle of the school year. That being said, I really would like to fucking see Throbbing Gristle perform for the first time in the United States.
Oh, and I’d love to see Leonard Cohen as well, but he’s on a different night.
they’re doing some other shows in the US too
Seriously? That’s a huge relief. Are there dates up anywhere?
I normally don’t like traveling outside of the Milwaukee/Chicago/Minneapolis range, but I came dangerously close to flying to the UK for the reunion, so I don’t mind going out of my way in the states.
EDIT: Found dates. April 25th in Chicago. Fucking perfect!
Thats cool mqhanlon. The last day of Coachella looks insane : The Cure, My Bloody Valentine, Throbbing Gristle, Public Enemy, and X??? Good thing i live on the other side of the country, or I’d be tempted.
[:|] Throbbing Gristle! HERE!?! In the U.S.!?! I just creamed my pants.
That being said, I really would like to fucking see Throbbing Gristle perform for the first time in the United States.
This is not the first time - they toured San Francisco in 1981. I have that show on cd and video!!
any other dates scheduled for around the country? (NYC/NJ PLEASE)
Yeah homey, where did you find that Chicago date? I went to their website and couldn’t find anything.
Here are the dates I’ve found:
April 17th: NYC; afternoon set of “In The Shadow Of The Sun” and evening show of greatest hits/ album songs, etc…
April 19th: Los Angeles; Coachella
April 23rd: San Francisco; Grand Regency Ballroom
April 25th: Chicago; Epiphany; same show set up as NYC

I’m not able to verify that with another site, so take it with a grain of salt? The Coachella date lined up, though.
Also, I stand corrected on the “first time in the US” notion. Thanks, Olsen.
April 19th: Los Angeles; Coachella.
Are they playing two shows this day??? because Coachella is a venue outside of Palm Springs and Palm Springs is roughly 2 hours from Los Angeles…
Late,

I’m guessing it’s just an oversight. Don’t make me doubt their appearance in Chicago! I’m on the verge of canceling a business trip that week just so I can make it to the show.
I heard about this last week but didn’t get around to posting it here. Very exciting. I too was contemplating Coachella, but will go to the NYC performance instead because I want more intimacy, a longer set list, and I simply can’t afford to go to California at the moment.
I just hope the location of the NYC date is announced soon so I can be the first in there fighting for tickets. I want to bring my girlfriend and show her what real Industrial music is all about (since she’s dragging me to Combichrist)
For what it’s worth, it seems other sites are picking up the info from that Electrical Forum and posting it up. So there is no official confirmation from TG yet, but seeing as how Coachella is clearly official, it makes sense that they would add a few more dates in the US as well and do a mini tour…

I hope that new CD isn’t exclusive to the tour.
Thanks for the update Voidhead.
I would guess the CD would be “exclusive” to the tour the same way TG-NOW was exclusive to the reunion shows. (It was made for sale there, but they printed up enough copies that leftovers were available on line.) I’m heading to Chicago, and I’m emptying out my wallet there.
god bless you voidhead… I read that post right when you put it up and ran (or is it surfed?) to ticketweb and got myself a ticket to the NYC show.
this is going to be fucking sweet
No problem. I just ordered my own ticket to the show.
This is not the first time - they toured San Francisco in 1981. I have that show on cd and video!!
Are you serious? Is this the one where the Discipline video was featured on the Cleopatra Industrial Revolution video compilation? You know, the one where Genesis was screaming like hell and made out with the baldy in the audience? THAT was a fucking moment.
If so, I was really wondering, and interested, if that entire show or recording/version really existed!
No problem. I just ordered my own ticket to the show.
which show? NYC? well you see me in the pick up there with rollins… sooooooooooooo if you feel like it come say hello at the show since i’ll be going alone.
any idea what you’re going to have the band sign?
Anyone else doing Chicago? I’ve got my VIP pass ordered.
