Well I’m recovering from a wee hangover but it was well worth it after the amazing night celebrating On-U Sound’s 30th anniversary in the business.
Tack>>Head were absolutely incredible and blew me away big time. I knew they’d be great but I wasn’t expecting such and awesome set. They had the place rockin with their brilliant mutant mix of Funk/Rock/Dub/Industrial & Hip Hop.
Mark Stewart & The Maffia’s (aka Tack>>Head) set was fantastic too and had a real old skool Industrial feel to it.
Adrian Sherwood as usual was a Jedi behind the sound desk. He was dubbing it up and keeping the sound crystal clear throughout the evening. I had a quick chat with Adrian about music afterwards and was telling him how I used to be gay for Ministry. He had a look on his face like he was trying to remember the name then said “oh yeah… I produced one of their albums”.
On-U Sound simply rules and I look forward to another 30yrs of their output.
Below are some videos I took and below that are a few photos…

Would have loved to see that one!
Looks like a great time… wish Sherwood would come visit stateside.
Man it was awesome…as i said…Tack>>Head were just incredible.
Hopefully they’ll hit the States with Sherwood in the near future and maybe even release a new album???
Keep tabs on Sherwood & co with regards to tours and records etc here…

I would love for Sherwood to hit LA with TACK>>HEAD. Fingers are crossed.
For a moment, I thought this was about a concert by Tack>>Head, Adrian Sherwood, & Cabaret Voltaire!

That would’ve been pretty cool…but to be honest Cabaret Voltaire would’ve been blown off the stage by Tack>>Head’s set so just as well it was @ Cabaret Voltaire and not featuring Cabaret Voltaire hahaha
Speaking of CV, what I wouldn’t give for a collaboration BETWEEN Sherwood & Richard H. Kirk. Or, hell, even Mal and Sherwood and/or a few of the other On-U Sound dub legends.

Yeah a Sherwood RHK collab would be pretty awesome. That RHK album he did with Peter Hope was pretty cool…if you haven’t got that check it out…it’s called Hoodoo something???
Skip MacDonald’s Little Axe project is pretty awesome. Adrian played a tune from it before Tack>>Head came on and it was absolutely awesome…apparently it’s from the upcoming Little Axe album.

Hahaha…classic. Sherwood’s like Bill Laswell…he’s been EVERYWHERE!
That cd is only going for $100. I’m sure itunes may have it.
Oh I know about Code but I don’t consider the material there to be truly representative of the best of CV or Sherwood. Code was from CV’s “sell out” cash-grab period IMHO and those albums were basically done to appease EMI/Parlophone.
But yeah, RHK & Peter Hope’s Hoodo Talk was a fantastic album. Something along those lines I’d like to see as an ultra collaboration featuring Kirk, Sherwood, Laswell, Mad Professor etc.
Thanks again for the gig report and vids + pics.
yeah you can get it on itunes, had my cd and vinyl for years one of my fave cv albums. think it’s long out of print though, tracking the cd down in the 90’s was a bitch.
The best version of Code is the UK CD which had 2 bonus tracks, including the superb Hey Hey. I am still pissed at myself for losing my US CD years and years ago…it’s the only proper CV/Kirk release I don’t have on CD now.

Tracking it down now is an expensive bitch hahaha
Tackhead are excellent. I even love Strange Things.

Yep,I was one of the other 5 who liked Strange Things…definitely more of a commercial effort but I don’t care…still a cool record…

Louder Than War have given the new Tack>>Head LP For The Love Of Money 9.5 out of 10 in their review. As mentioned earlier in this thread it is a covers album. I have yet to hear it but will definitely be picking it up. It features some pretty interesting covers actually. Artists covered include Sly & The Family Stone, James Brown, Bob Marley, The Meters, Slim Harpo and Errol Dunkley among others!
I’m looking forward to the LP of new original material!
Yeah,I need to get my hands on this one…I think they only printed like 999 copies of it…Tackhead cam do no wrong…
Side note:This is like the millionth time I’ve seen Doug Wimbish’ name spelled as “Wimbush” in print…

Poor Doug!
I believe only 500 of vinyl & CD although I may be wrong? The digital has a heap of bonus Dubs by Sherwood…as it’s Sherwood you KNOW these will not be lazy fillers. www.juno.co.uk has the vinyl for sale over here in the UK so I’ll probably just grab that and the digital from them as well…Juno is also having a 20% discount on all digital just now too.
