Saw that…Ordered!!!

I know this is a crowd favorite, but this has got to be be my least favorite by Al and company… it’s get so repetitive so fast and it goes on FOREVER!
Glad you guys dig it, but this ain’t it for me.

Got a copy pre-ordered as well. I’m hoping the remix is vintage and not something we’ve heard before.

I pre-ordered one as well. I guess I probably wouldn’t have if it weren’t for the bonus tracks since I have the original releases, but this seems like it could be a decent reissue.

For me, that’s LARD…almost every track they did, but particularly “Time To Melt”. I do love “The Power of LARD”, but even that goes on twice as long as it should have.

Seriously? I “wraggled my finger?” I didn’t think that’s what I was doing. I thought I was just sharing an opinion on a message board that’s about sharing opinions.

I was making a Smurf joke. But that’s Brainy Smurf anyway, not Grumpy Smurf, so it fell flat. Oh well.

I grabbed it too, just to support releases of more older stuff.

Lard’s - ‘Time to Melt’ is that intentional dragging on, droning, sludgy tune. I still love to jam it now and then, but can get why people don’t care for it. Ending still gets me too. Get sucked into the song, just nodding along and that ‘knock, knock, knock.’ “Open up we have a warrant.” So great, then gets louder and more aggressive until the song fades out.

Has anyone received a physical vinyl copy of this release? The mastering is atrocious. I thought at first my phono was broken, but no… the noise, low dynamic range and poor frequency response are all inherent to the cut. I compared to the original Wax Trax! 12" and CD releases, and the differences could not be more obvious.

While I’m accustomed to Cleopatra releasing garbage with zero attention to quality control, this is truly a new low.

Avoid at all costs.

Haven’t received my copy yet, but that’s a bummer to hear.

How is the unreleased remix? Anything noteworthy to mention?

I rec’d it today but haven’t spun it. It also came with Disc 6 Wax Trax-set cd.

The ”Remix” on the A side is very close in style and substance to the “Dub Mix,” different but not radically so. What’s worse is that the “Remix” has the worst mastering of the bunch. Whatever the source for it was, there was no effort to perform even basic leveling so that it is consistent with the rest of the release. But per my earlier post, the mastering across the board is unforgivable.

That’s a bummer. Their Ministry vinyl releases have been pretty solid so far, with the exception of Greatest Tricks, which I’m not sure why it even came out on vinyl, given the source masters are extremely flat and overcompressed. That and they left off half of the songs.

Should be getting Supernaut in the mail towards the end of June. I’ll give it a fair listen, but it sounds like I may need to stick with the original Wax Trax 12’"s.

I purchased this and got it within a week - thank you for posting about it; I wouldn’t have known otherwise…

Well, I’ve only listened to one side so far but I can confirm it does sound like garbage…particularly the remix. What a shame. The remixes are the only reason I really want this reissue.

Ugh…bummer…

I got my copy today.

So the sound quality wasn’t as bad as what I was bracing myself more. All the tracks (minus the remix) are about what I would expect for a 33 speed of these tracks (mind you the 45 Wax Trax will win everyday).

Now the wild card is the unreleased remix, which sounds completely flat and out of place. Maybe the source file was low res? I guess it’s cool to have from a collector’s standpoint, but it sounds too similar to the Dub version to even be considered for release, but that’s my opinion.

So, long story short, the sound quality of the “remix” sounds like garbage compared to the rest of the record, which in general sounds excellent for a 33.

Got mine today. Oddly, they included Disc 3 of the Trax! box CD set (which is Revco Big Sexy Land). Anybody know why they’re doing that?

Nope but I got one too.
