There are a few cases where mothers think they are doing the right thing by continuing to breastfeed their kids past the age of 1. Either that or they’re fucked in the head. Plus those kids are always going to be remembered for appearing in a video showing them breastfeeding at 8… Sad.
When my wife and I went sightseeing throughout Peru and Chile some years back, we witnessed goings on in small remote townships that would make that breastfeeding vid with the 8 year olds seemed normal by comparison. Things that a person could get locked up for a seriously long time for in a so called ‘civilised’ country. Like freaky ‘eeeew I can’t believe they just did that’ type stuff.
I’m not even sure you’d all believe me if I told you half of it. Certainly made my head spin and my head spins rather infrequently.
This really isn’t such a big deal…
As long as they get cut off before puberty.

My mum breastfed me up until I was five or six - same with my younger sister.
Um…I don’t mean that my younger sister breatsfed me, I mean my mum breastfed her until she was around the same age. Sheesh!
I don’t think it’s a big deal. I can still remember being about five years old and my sister being breastfed and nipping in myself for a quick feed. I guess some people would find that weird. Depends on your upbringing. My sister was about the same age as the girl in the video while she was breastfeeding if I remember correctly because she found it comforting. Neither of us turned out demented or anything. My parents had friends who were hippies and they were all into the breastfeeding thing.
If you think that’s strange, I had a friend growing up who wore a diaper up until the age of 10 or 11 because of a severe bladder problem. And his mum would come into the room while we were playing and ask if he was “wet or poopy” and if he said yes, she would change it right there in front of me and even powder his backside. I remember playing at his house in the summertime when we were about 10 or something and he’d wear a diaper and nothing else. It was like hanging out with a four ft baby.
A few years later that kid tried to strangle a girl at his high school and was expelled.

Wow! I was breast fed but I gotta take it on my mom’s word, cause I was cut off before I can even remember. and I can remember pretty damn far back too!

Diaper wearing amongst pre teens is fairly common - more common than you’d think. In Australia they’re called ‘pull ups’ and are generally worn by the 4 to 7 year old age group, to help combat those little accidents. A doctor friend of my wife told us that diapers or pull ups are often given to young kids who excessively masturbate - particularly in public places where it can be embarrasing for the parents. They find it more difficult to touch themselves when wearing diapers. I’m not making this up either.
As for breastfeeding - what age do you give in and say ‘no’? Difficult to say. I kinda agree with the woman in the video where she says that we live more or less in a repressed society that is disturbed by nurturing and disturbed by breasts as a nuturing and comforting device (unless they are used in a sexual context). We find nakedness in a natural setting as an assault on our senses when it should be accepted as natural. We equate nakedness with the act of fucking. If we are at a beach and we are naked and our children are naked in our presence enjoying their nakedness and enjoying their surroundings then we are preverts and we should be locked up.
The Europeans think we are screwed and morally repressed - which is why they think we have so much sexual crime here because we’re all wound so tightly to the point where we’re more offended by the sight of say a boy’s genitals in a non sexual context on tv then we are at watching people dying on camera. I have relatives on my wife’s side who are Scandinavian and they think we’re completely fucked in the head (their words not mine).
Still…a part of me deep down wants to slap that breastfeeding woman in the face and tell her that letting her 8 year old suckle her is just plain wrong.

Some kids are born with teeth, some get them as early as 4 months, if your digestive system is not mature enough to cope with any ‘solid’ type food at that age how can you possibly think you should stop breastfeeding?

Well then I’ve been misinformed as to the standard cut-off point of 1. Regardless I think kids should be off the tit by 3 or at least pre-school age. This whole comforting thing and “they do it cos they like it” attitude is a bit naff I think; kids (well boys anyway, I don’t know if it’s any different for girls, probably not) should be weaned from their mothers early, especially before school, I think it’s better for them. And sure there are cases like Olsen who keep breastfeeding until they’re driving cars and taking out mortages but hey, if no one gets hurt, what’s the biggie.
One thing I will say is the furor over breastfeeding in public is absolute balls. People should seriously get a fucking life if they object to mothers breastfeeding their babies in public places, what sort of prudish, morally twisted fucks are these people.
In the U.S. the states of Montana, Oregon and Washington have an 88% breastfeeding rate, at the other end of the scale is Mississippi at 50%. Hmmm…
