I kinda agree with the woman in the video where she says that we live more or less in a repressed society that is disturbed by nurturing and disturbed by breasts as a nuturing and comforting device (unless they are used in a sexual context). We find nakedness in a natural setting as an assault on our senses when it should be accepted as natural. We equate nakedness with the act of fucking. If we are at a beach and we are naked and our children are naked in our presence enjoying their nakedness and enjoying their surroundings then we are preverts and we should be locked up.

The Europeans think we are screwed and morally repressed - which is why they think we have so much sexual crime here because we’re all wound so tightly to the point where we’re more offended by the sight of say a boy’s genitals in a non sexual context on tv then we are at watching people dying on camera. I have relatives on my wife’s side who are Scandinavian and they think we’re completely fucked in the head (their words not mine).

Can’t disagree with any of this. We really have no idea how repressed we are - sexually that is. We all have this obsession with sex - sports players have to be sold as sex symbols; pop singers barely out of puberty are sold in lurid lolita type 3 minute commercials; near naked women used to sell everything from cars to carpet cleaner. It’s all sex sex sex 24 hours. Yet, as you say if a child’s genitalia were shown on television in a natural setting - even fleetingly - there is moral panic and outrage and public lynchings. We can show images of death and destruction on the 5 o’clock news but can’t take our kids to a clothing optional beach because someone might look at them or they may be scarred for life at the sight of exposed genitalia.

We’re nowhere near as enlightened as we’d like to think we are. Sometimes I wonder if it’s actually 1710 instead of 2010.

My mother in law is a registered nurse she and her colleagues say 6 months to a year tops is how long any woman should breast feed. Which more or less follows the teething guideline! So suck it, woman not in the know! For your own sake do some research of your own before you spout off at the keyboard… jackass!

the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends exclusive breastfeeding—with no supplemental food or liquids—through the first 6 months of life, and continued supplemental breastfeeding through at least the first year of life.

There are a million more references, papers and actual sources I can cite in support of the fact women should try and breastfeed (or nurse, if you prefer the more pc term) for at least a year. So, again, I ask you to do some research before your baby is born.

You can argue all you like but there is no ONE rule for each individual. Some children can be weened early - some will stay on the teet for years.

I guess I’m one of the rare few, but I don’t find it that disturbing for a young child of school age to find milk from the teet a comfort.

And there are no respectable sources that argue against breastfeeding. (An exception, I presume, could be if the mother has some disease that can be passed to the infant through breastfeeding).

The argument over breastfeeding might get swamped in weaning age but the focus should always remain at what is best for the child.

When velvet showed up here she was a complete bitch and still comes off that way. it seemed as though she showed up here just to start crap. She was brand new and here talking crap to the old skoolers as if she ran the show. I didn’t like that… Our feuds off and on have been completely serious (such as now) to not serious at all. (at least from my perspective)

She irked me now because first she came off condescending as all hell about “do your research before your kid is born” when I’ve grown up around health care professionals my whole life.

Well this is gonna sound like a swipe at velvet but it’s not it’s just how it is, If that person that was writing that crap was someone I have no respect for or very little respect It wouldn’t bother me in the least, unless of course it upset my wife then I would probably talk crap back to that person. respectively, But the kind of “fat tits” I’m talking about (and we’ve all seen them) are more like moobs on a woman, You know a woman who is supposed to be small chested but yet she has eaten so much that her body has run out of space to put the excess fat so it just throws it in her chest. Looks more like belly fat than actual breast tissue! (that name I bestowed on her after she started braggin one thread about how large her chest was… See it’s little things like that that she does that just build up and make her worse and worse.

The last thread she and I were on I backed out and stopped bickering and she complained about that too! there is just no pleasing her. So I might as well just talk crap too her and keep myself entertained.

I was merely making the point that a lot of different sources say a lot of different things. I just used hyperbole to illustrate that fact.

I choose to go with what my family members (who work in the industry) tell me. they have no agenda the way some researcher or company may have.
