Space Rock

[reply][reply]^^^

And…speaking of thread hijackers…

It’s all music. And the thread was not just for one band…it was for Space Rock which for me would be “futuristic” type music…i.e Spank Rock?

Now stop crying and bow down to the Monks![/reply]
He was bitchin’ in another thread that we don’t discuss music anymore! Now here’s a thread about music and he’s still bitchin’! you never can please some people [:/]
Late,

I know…the cheek of him!

I can see where he’s coming from though.

But still…it’s just an internet forum at the end of the day.

Now back to Space Rock…Black Sabbath’s “Supernaut” anybody!!!

Toot, I promise myself I will download or try to find those albums when my net isn’t capped and I’m not inundated with study…

Godlesh, yep, heard that…

but I should mention, had never heard of the monks before until you pointed them out. Again, shanks a lot! [shocked]

I love how this thread has gone from the Flaming Lips, to Aceyalone, to the Monks… ahh, only on prongs…

which brings me to my point,

not havin’ a go at ya Olsen, but I think this thread illustrates that prongs is still about music. I mean, that’s pretty eclectic, more so than the vast majority of forums. Sure, you’ll get personalities who misappropriate this forum as a means of facilitating their ego, but whatever. It comes with the territory. Everyone here has a persona; even if it is bona fide and not all that detached from reality in some cases.

That’s what this is at the end of the day; a forum. Opinions are voiced. Those most poignant and pertinent earn the most respect.

Everyone who’s contributed music, political insight and something to laugh about to this thread, and countless others, has earnt my respect.

Hmmm…

And nice to hear once again from our board’s ‘liberal lunatic’ at large, Grmpysmrf.

Blanketing the forum with his high and mighty opinions and egotistical, lop-sided rants and attention seeking.

Lookout anyone who dares disagree with this moron and his political peddling.

You get the gold star grmpy! Nobody else can compete with your suckiness. It’s what you’ve wanted all along isn’t it? To get to the top of the ‘class’: Hey everyone look at me!! I’m Grmpysmrf and don’t I have news for you. I’ll tell you all how it is and how it’s gonna be, boys and girls!! Everything you think is wrong, all your opinions are way off…unless they agree with me, that is.

The proverbial loud mouthed nerd, the teachers pet, the snitch. Call him what you will.

Pretty much sick and tired of your bullshit, buddy and I’m not the only one.

See you around…perhaps on one of those leftist ‘It’s all a conspiracy’ boards.

Hell, you probably moderate half of them!

And I thought women were bad tut tut tut

w00t Space Rock! Monster Magnet doesn’t count though do they?

Monster Magents old stuff was pretty “Space Rock” IMO…like 25… TAB.

Speaking of Sabbath MM did a terrific Into the Void cover… .as did Kyuss - hell that’s just a terrific song in general.
aww where’s the little headbanging emoticon when you need it.

Thread hijacker… What’s this have to do with Space rock?
I bet you feel better now though! The only thread about music and here comes Olsen with some ridiculous diatribe dedicated to me. Thanks… I guess.
real quick though, is there really a proverb that deals with a “loud mouthed nerd?”

Hoot hoot!

Monster Magnet doesn’t count because they’re just not cool.

Cathedral counts though.

Kraftwerk are Space Rock too.

One of the only bands on the Cleopatra lable I have ever liked is Pressurehed, who definitely have a space rock flavor and some electronic sci-fi stylings. They only put out 3 albums before going on to become Anubian Lights with Nik Turner of Hawkwind.

old monster magnet was more stoner rock… later? I have no clue what to call it, so I won’t try.

I was talking to a friend of mine about this space rock thing and they mentioned a band called space hog. The name sounded familiar. Turns out the singer marreid one of the tyler daughters once.

old monster magnet was more stoner rock…

Yeah, that’s space rock, cause when a stoner listens to it they’re all spaced out man.

Think I really oughta look into this.

I thought monster magnet used to make lyrics and songs about outer space and sci fi shit back when they were good, yessum?

You suck balls, Monster Magnet do not.

Skye Klad was a great local MPLS space rock band from about 5-10 years back. I’m amazed no one’s mentioned Spiritualized or Spacemen 3! I’ve not listened to enough S3 to qualify as a fan but I like what I’ve heard and Spiritualized is great.

Ziggy Stardust?

Niggy Tardust?

I saw Monster Magnet open for Rob Zombie some 12 years ago.
It was one of the worst performances I have ever witnessed.

I’d believe it… rob just can’t finish a verse without running out of breath. although his vision and stage show are phenominal…

Eh?
No, Zombie was fantastic.
Monster Magnet was terrible.
Fear Factory was on the bill, too. They were pretty good.

Monster Magnet are indeed horrendous.

I saw them at some Festival in the late 90’s and it was hysterically bad. The lead singer missed his cues continuously and sounded like he had just woken up. The music was about as interesting and creative as a ‘How To Fill Out Your Tax Return’ instructional audio tape.

As for space rock - um…how about German 70’s rock like:

Tangerine Dream
Amon Duul II
Brainticket
Cluster
Popol Vuh
Faust
Can
