Scared.
Oh brother.
Oh brother.
I’ve always been supportive of a woman’s right to choose so in the case of soundgarden I think Abortion should be mandatory for this rebirth as well as for the first time they came round! blech!

Have a feeling this will be like one of those zombie movies. Sometime really good at first, dies, then comes back as something evil and clearly not as good as before. I’m sure the music will be nothing short of on-par. Cornell can’t sing like he used to, and judging from his recent solo work and audioslave, i’m very skeptical to hear anything new from him without cringing.
I like Soundgarden - at least, I liked Louder Than Love and Badmotorfinger.
Never could stand that Superunknown era though. By golly gosh that was some damned corny sounding alterna-metal nonsense. Black Hole Sun may very well be one of the most annoying rock songs ever put to tape.
Despite loving Soundgarden as a teen (and still having a fondness for some of their albums) I am not too happy about this. Cornell went all Timbaland last year and I thought the others were too cool to be seen with him again. Still if they play I will probably go. Much rather see Godflesh though.
I am also quite scared of this. Cornell already did a lot with Audioslave and solo to tarnish Soundgarden in my mind since it is hard to listen to the old stuff, even the good stuff, without thinking of Timbaland or whatever. And now, I guess my fond memories of Soundgarden will be erased once and for all…
On the other hand, Alice In Chains reunion resulted in a great album and even better tour. So who knows…
Why does this not surprise me? Solo projects fail, money dries up. I’m happy for them if it’s for the music (even though i only liked them for a few months about 20 years ago), but “Soundgarden” turned into their job.
Guess the kids need braces now!
Love Soundgarden.
Cornell’s voice is toast, though.
Fuck me, sorry for offending you! I’m a musician too (and NO i’m not bitter by making only a couple of grand in the past 25 years). But, these guys know where the money is. True, they are “Professional” because they make shitloads of cash, but in the end they are Rock Stars who know where the money is. No one wants to be broke, like you said…what kind of idiot chooses that wonderful lifestyle?
Well, considering they are all professional musicians - it IS their job. I have no idea why people complain about bands and artitists making money. They have a right to earn a living just as you or I do. If you don’t like 'em, don’t go to the shows, and don’t buy the product. If they aren’t viable, the project will die soon enough.
Is Soundgarden reuniting for potential profits? Sure, but that is the whole point isn’t it? A group of professional musicicians making money. What a concept.[/reply]
Hey, none was intended /or taken here either! I hate “debating” on forums because it often winds up being childish, so not the case here…As far as being a ‘Rockstar’, i’m too old and seen too much of what it entails. Not for me…
[reply]No offense was taken and wasn’t trying to rip on you.
By professional I mean that’s how they earn their living. Not necessarily how much they make. However, I have zero issue with folks making money. Even gasp… lots of it. Nothing wrong with being succesful financially. Putting out total garbage to simply capitalize on your name is just plain unethical but there is nothing wrong with getting paid for doing your job.
As for the life style - I suppose it’s part of the job. I’m not sure I’d care to do it for long but then again, I’m not a rock star [cool]

cornell aside, I think if the band got back together and wrote music and it was lackluster they wouldn’t release it. Also chris, while writing alot of the songs, wasn’t the only one in the group that did. Shit even the drummer wrote a couple.
Scream wasn’t a homerun hit, but teaming up with timbaland may not necessarily have been strickly for the green of the pop music world. Chris MAY have just been trying to do something different. I think alot of the animosity around that cd was contributed by Trent making such an issue of it.
interesting. never did get to see them live. i await live reviews before i toss one off on it.
That album was already getting a bad rep, Trent only made it a little worse. Maybe Chris really did want to do something different. Saw an interview earlier about the bad press he got. He’s actually proud of the album, I think. Going from Soundgarden, to solo, to Audioslave, I guess he wanted to do something “out of the norm” for him. I still think the album’s complete garbage, but if his intentions behind creating it were really like that, then good for him.
People cringed at Cornell regardless of Reznor’s put down. Totally understandable. If Cornell wanted to make a pop album he should have called up Mark Thwaite. Then no one would have laughed. They would have sit up straight and listened closely.
just wondering what all your fav soundgarden song was?
i’d go with ty cobb
4th of July
Or maybe Slaves & Bulldozers.
Blow Up The Outside World and Pretty Noose. First songs I ever really heard by them, and they’ve always stuck with me.
Always a fan of Jesus Christ Pose.
