So let me see if I got this right....

1 - Dime only has live shows now?

2 - This place hasn’t done hardly any talking at all since I left almost 3 years ago?

3 - The albums and discography pages aren’t updated?

4 - Where the hell are bisquit and peligro?

Oh. And hi again all. I just thought I would swoop by and see how things have been. I got a copy of Alien Christmas (which sucks but was worth the money for the laughs). I wonder how much lower can Al really go?

Peace!

Krowe

Haven’t seen you around inforever. Glad to have you stop back by.

  1. Hasn’t it always?
  2. Not about anything important, anyway…
  3. I haven’t gotten around to it in a while, mainly due to the lack of excaitement about some of the newer stuff
  4. I’m here, at least.

How much did you pay for that Christmas single?

[shocked]

“There is nothing like returning to a place that remains unchanged to find the ways in which you yourself have altered.”

“There is nothing like returning to a place that remains unchanged to find the ways in which you yourself have altered.”

Awesome quote. Where did you pick that up from?

Glad to see I’m even remembered, LOL.

  1. Hasn’t it always?

Well… I haven’t been on Dime in years. Been on Demonoid forever and a day and last time I was on Dime I could still get new releases and such pretty easy. All I find now are live shows. Not bitching, as I love live shows of bands, but would like to see a bit more stuff on there (demos, rarities, etc).

Well, if you want some help I’d be glad to throw in a bit of time. I know no one seems to like most of the new stuff but it’s really not all that bad. Just take it for what it is. Tired? Yes. A path too well trod? Yes. But Al is just doing what Al likes, which is make music, however mediocre it may be. At least we aren’t getting things like a remix album of current crap by Al. Could you imagine a Strokes remix album produced by Al? Or even better yet, how about Al remixing a Josh Groban or John Mayer album, ha!

  1. I’m here, at least.

Well at least all the old heads aren’t gone.

5 bucks at the local mom and pop shop. I told him I need to re-order a lot of my Ministry stuff as it’s getting a bit on the worn out side and he went on a spree and got a bunch of stuff from 13th planet for his store. Wound up getting 3 or 4 copies of that single and they just sit there. I front face 'em when I see 'em but he wants 'em gone so I bought one even though it’s not really my cup 'o tea.

Quote is a Nelson Mandela.

I know no one seems to like most of the new stuff but it’s really not all that bad.

Yes it is.

Where the hell have you been anyway? You’d better not have just popped in to say ‘‘hi’’ and then go disappear for another two years…

Or even better yet, how about Al remixing a Josh Groban or John Mayer album, ha!

I have no idea who those guys are but it all sounds so delish.

To kick things off, I’m going to start a thread about Tool’s 10,000 Days and how it was the greatest thing since Swiss Cheese…and I want to see some lengthy and emotionally impacting responses from you.

I would listen to Al Jourgensen producing or remixing all those people.
It’d be something different at the very least.

Next to The Top by The Cure and Presence by Led Zeppelin, 10000 Days is hands down one of the most under rated albums I can think of. Why it copped so much flak is beyond me.

Anyway welcome back Krowe.

Meh! The Top, yes. 10,000 Days, no. And I actually do consider myself a tool fan too. And there’s no such thing as bad zeppelin.

Well…there’s mediocre Zeppelin (ie the last few tracks on disc 2 of Physical Graffiti).

Each his own I guess… Maybe i’m just pissant partial when it comes to certain bands.

you left THREE years ago? damn, time flies…

…welcome back! hope all is well! I could only imagine the laughs that Alien Christmas has provided [laugh]

Exactly. Just like swiss cheese. Full of holes where there could have been something decent but it was gauged out by the ever increasing plethora of Tool’s standard bag 'o tricks. I’ve never heard such a horrendous album in my life, with the exception of Alien Christmas.

Seriously? Tool lost it years ago. Like in '95. Aenima was their last really good album. Lateralus is decent if you don’t mind that 3/4 of the album is filler, while 10,000 Days is nothing but filler. It’s all rhetorical BS. “Oh, Maynard is so cosmic and quanta-physical. He’s so smart and ever reaching and inspiring!” Pffth. It’s trite crap. And the rest of the Tool crew are just spinning their wheels making mediocre rehashes of their seminal success from previous albums. God knows the new album better make up for the last two, hardcore. As far as I’m concerned Tool has just turned into APC. And good to see you are still the a**hole that I remember. Makes me smile.

Peace!

Might very well be on the same page with Tool. Lateralus grew on me over the years, 10,000 Days not so much.

You honestly can’t think of a worse album than 10,000 Days?!?!? Of all the albums you have heard, say, in the last 10 years, you can’t think of a worse album than 10,000 Days? OK we’ll leave it at that. Off the top of my head I’d say The Prodigy’s The Fat Of The Land was the worst album I could think of. But I’ve a feeling you’re going to tell me why that particular album is a masterpiece and how I’m completely wrong and have no taste in music and how I should get out more and maybe play some Goofy Golf.

Actually, no I take that back. The album they released after The Fat Of The Land is the worst album I have ever heard. Y’know the one? Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned.

I can’t really counteract yr statement until you give me some examples of what you consider to be good albums. I do remember you saying you liked Beers, Steers & Queers at one point. If that’s what you consider to be a good album then…I give up. End discussion right here. There’s no hope for ya.

Seriously? Lateralus is decent if you don’t mind that 3/4 of the album is filler

What exactly is “filler” on that album? I hear nothing but absolutely brilliant and thought provoking progressive metal. What makes it filler? It doesn’t flow? The songs sound awkward? It was thrown together haphazardly? What? What is filler and makes it filler?

while 10,000 Days is nothing but filler.

Wrong - but I’ll let you have yr opinion. It’s obvious you hate the thing so no amount of goading from me is going to change this. I think the last track is tosh and the lyrics for Vicarious are lazy…apart from that, the album kills me. Every time. I’m yet to grow tired of it.

“Oh, Maynard is so cosmic and quanta-physical. He’s so smart and ever reaching and inspiring!” Pffth.

Who says that? Yr neighbour? Some music journo you bumped into? The Spanish kids you teach English to? The voices in yr head? The milkman? Who? What a load of crap. No one says he’s “cosmic” or “quanta-physical” or even meta-physical. Although I’m sure he’s physical in some sense. No one has said he is “smart” or “ever reaching”. And if you find the music inspiring, than the music is inspiring. It’s well played, well executed prog metal. Take it or leave it.

It’s trite crap. And the rest of the Tool crew are just spinning their wheels making mediocre rehashes of their seminal success from previous albums.

What makes it a rehash? Undertow is different from Aenima is different from Lateralus is different from 10,000 Days. I don’t hear a rehash - although I do get the impression that Vicarious was a Lateralus leftover for some reason. It just doesn’t quite sound…right.

And live…they’re fucking amazing.

God knows the new album better make up for the last two, hardcore.

I can’t see them making an album that will please you now. Maybe you’d be better off listening to the latest Alice In Chains album or a Megadeth compilation.

And good to see you are still the a**hole that I remember.

Not really. I’ve grown a moustache since then. And now I generally leave a tip when I go out for dinner.

Tool is just Spin Doctors with less beardage and longer songs. It’s basically the same thing though. A pile of crap.

Tool is just Spin Doctors with less beardage and longer songs. It’s basically the same thing though. A pile of crap.

That’s right…and crap = filler…i.e. 10,000 Days is all filler.

And anyway Dr Thorpe already scientifically dissect the reasons why Tool sucks?

http://www.somethingawful.com/d/your-band-sucks/tools-10000-days.php

I wouldn’t call it all filler. There’s a few songs there that I would consider pretty great (jambi, rosetta stoned). The rest, I would consider Lateralus rehashed (Vicarious, more specifically). The Pot, tried to sound like Undertow, but eh. Some people will like that one, and some won’t. And there was a ton of filler on that album. But I can’t complain about filler since half of aenima weren’t exactly “songs”, but still made it an amazing album.

10,000 Days is all filler you say??

Fucked in the head. Absolutely. Stupidest thing I’ve ever heard. Fucking brilliant album from start to finish.

Also, agreeing with Peligro about The Prodigy sucking balls.
