Long time, no see folks. I’m quite sorry for this; I hardly get more than half an hour at the computer these days and it’s pretty much all about email and maybe the occasional cat video.
Hope you’re all well, I’ll try and post more regularly… but anyway, I should cut to the chase. I’m interviewing Al for a magazine about Surgical Meth Machine. Anything you guys and gals want me to ask?
I’ve got plenty of questions… and believe me, I’m kind of throwing caution to the wind and asking a lot of things which have been bugging me and countless other Ministry fans.
Almost any historical data or anecdote I might be interested in knowing about would receive an answer I’d trust as much as a six dollar bill so I’ll cut straight to the achingly personal:
Ask Al why he prefers his girlfriends manage his business rather than hiring a qualified outsider. It may look cheaper in the short term but I suspect it always costs him more in the end.
Maybe its been answered already, but could you inquire as to what happened to The Devil’s Chord comic book? Would Ministry ever play Cuba? Would Cuba let Ministry play?
Ask him how many more “last ever final” Ministry tours/albums are on the way.
Ask him if he’s actually going to write a postcard to the $1200.00 Patreon patrons or if Liz will do it like all of his Tweets, FB posts, Patreon updates, etc.

I got onto this… will try include the answer in the interview. Led to a very unexpected, albeit brief, answer…
Sorry I couldn’t get onto many of the rest, despite the fact we talked for about half an hour. He’s the kind of dude where you talk about one thing and then it leads to another… very easygoing and a great interview subject.
Not the crotchety arsehole people would expect, just a straight up good dude.
Dig this, though; the preceding interviewers were so badly researched, one even asked him what he ‘did’ in Ministry. Yep. That’s the state of music journalism in this fucking country. But, rather than piss and moan, he just had a good laugh about it.
What a jump you’ve made. Congratulations.
When did you go from busking to interviewing for radio? A Magazine? How’d you land this gig?
Thanks good sir! I’m still busking, believe it or not… but, I’m winding back on it. I’ve been playing heaps of concerts, playing in different bands and doing a lot of recording. It’s been hectic as fuck.
I was doing heaps of interviews, but kind of wound it back to focus on music. I do it here and there and there’s a bunch of interviews up here… http://danieltucceriwords.tumblr.com/interrogations
I’m probably proudest of the one with Alice Cooper, out of everyone I ever interviewed, he was the only one to thank me afterwards for a good chat. Absolute king of men!
Al was only the second to do that… but went one better and said we should hit the bar for a drink of two when he next hits Melbourne [shocked]
Downside of all this is I literally live on coffee, minimal sleep and have had many a relationship fall apart due to it. My current girlfriend’s pretty cool about it, but we did break up for a while because of the amount of work I was doing and a bunch of other things. She’s way more chilled out and I kind of need that. That brings me back to my main point- sorry for being such an absent bastard, but I wouldn’t forget you guys, especially when I got this interview. Cheers for the suggestions.

I’ve noticed that in interviews with Al. He knows right away when the interviewer is a fan, or even if he’s just knowledgeable, and gives a good conversation. With the guys that are just on assignment from some rag or another, he acts like an ass and/or gives canned answers.
Sounds like you got a good one - I look forward to reading it.
This sounds like it will be good. Looking forward to it. I met Al once and he wasn’t at all like I thought he would be. I met him by accident, and usually have a rule of not meeting any celebrities whose work I enjoy. He was very funny, sincere and just a decent guy to talk to.
I’ve met Al two times.
The first time was before the 2004 show in Anaheim. I had volunteered to open the show and taunt the crowd dressed up as George Bush. I spent several hours hanging out with Al on the tour bus. It was AWESOME. He and Angie could not have been better hosts. So gracious, friendly, and down-to-earth.
The second time was in Dublin and he was a sloppy drunken douchebag.
Depending on what Al is on (and how much of it), I think you can have the greatest experience of your life, or be gravely let down (or vindicated if you’ve already got such an opinion of the guy).
Way to go, Dildo!
Cooper is definitely a king among men.
I was hoping to meet him last year but the Motley your kind of crimped my usual plans of the year.
Next time he has a headlining gig near me I’m definitely gonna make it happen.
Wishing you all the best with your music, journalism, and life!
thanx mate, same back at ya
i’ve gotta say, Alice completely blew Motley out of the water. Everyone in attendance pretty much thought the same thing. If he came back to Australia and did his own shows, I doubt he’d have trouble filling them out. An hour of Cooper wasn’t enough!
it’s cool hearing all the Al stories. I’ve got to say, out of anyone of note that I’ve met, he’s the only person I was genuinely nervous to meet. Weirdly, it was really easy to speak with him over the phone.
I should add… the SMM song that was on youtube a few weeks back didn’t blow my mind, but the album is actually worth a look at, especially if you’re a fan of Land of Rape and Honey.
I’m late on asking this, but did Al happen to mention anything about the Industrial Strength Festival? It’s something he was talking about last year, that was supposed to happen this summer. I’m guessing we’re close enough that we can safely say it isn’t happening on schedule, but I’m wondering if he has cancelled it completely. http://loudwire.com/al-jourgensen-ministry-reunion-new-projects-industrial-strength-festival/

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Sorry. I couldn’t help it.
I wouldn’t even use the word “canceled”.
It was just one of a billion Jourgensen ideas that get pulled out of his ass for nothing to happen.
You could have quite the resume if you gave him credit for all the stuff he SAID he was going to do.
