So I just did the 2010 Census.

Growing up, I always thought this was some big effin’ deal and involved a bunch of suits and sleepless nights, but a few people just came to my door and completed a verbal questionnaire in about fifteen minutes.

Damn, Uncle Sam. Why can’t everything be this painless?

Cause you got fuckers like Glen Beck and Michelle Bachman trying to tell everybody what is and they 100% wrong. They are SOO wrong you can pretty much take everything they’ve said about it and and think the exact oppisite and be closer to the truth than those assholes!

SO you’ve been stopped yet and asked for your papers because you are not white?

More financial aid, more hassles on the streets. Even trade.

Very upbeat way of looking at it!

And here I was thinking the census was totally uninspiring.

That’s EXACTLY how it works around here in AZ, mick. Add in the fact that I have long hair, a long beard, and look borderline homeless 'cause I’d rather update my record collection than the wardrobe, it gets kinda problematic.

Don’t give a damn, really. I got my rights, my papers, and my guns. Bring it on.

The funny thing is most of the law enforcement there is Hispanic lol. Sellouts! It’s just xenophobia man they should just admit it.

… It’s just xenophobia man they should just admit it.

You would figure the Tea Party folks would be completely against this law. Here they all are screaming and hollering about the ever increasing reach of the government and here they are supporting the baby steps into a Police State.
So you are right it’s totally Xenophobia!

Oh yeah.

This is going to be something else.

Don’t give a damn, really. I got my rights, my papers, and my guns. Bring it on.

Icepick,
Are they really stopping people walking down the street? I figured it would just be an extension of existing law and they would pretty much limit it to people who are pulled over and are suspect. Enlighten the prongers.

Btw, I love Phoenix. Used to have friends that lived there and went to see them several times. Saw NIN and Dresden Dolls @ the Marquee in 2005. Cool venue.

I’m all for what AZ is doing. The illegal immigration is out of control. The US govt won’t do a thing to fix it. Meanwhile, AZ has to deal with it.

Your only for it because you will never ever be stopped for papers! Elitist bullshit! I for one do not want to live in a police state! it’s pretty funny that the repubs that bitched and drove the fear up during the cold war are now turning the US into everything they used to Bitch about with Russia!

Think of it as having a park behind your house and everyone decides they want to walk through your yard to get to it. Along the way, they take dumps in your yard, litter, do drugs outside your kids window, and steal your garden gnomes. You complain to the police and your HOA but they say it doesn’t bother them and they don’t have time to deal with it. Instead of helping, they just hire someone to make a nice path through your yard to the park. So, now all of those people start using the path and tell their friends how nice of a walk it is. So more come. Pretty soon your yard is shit and your house has lost all of its value because no one will buy it. So, what are you going to do? Just sit on the front porch and wave while they go by or tell them to get their ass out of your yard?

You make the call.

Extremely BAD analogy. Not the same situation as Arizona. You completely ignore border patrol and act like it’s not even there in your analogy… It’s easy to tell who does not belong on your property when it’s your house. Do they live with you? no? then they don’t belong. How do you do that when it is an entire state? You can’t tell if they are from different state let alone a different country! So what’s next? Let’s bring back Jim Crow laws and make the darkies sit at the back of the bus? This is totally racism in the disguise of “National security.”

Forget lack of education this seems to be moving into the realm of lack of common sense!

Sad, Usually your a funny guy and I enjoy your quips but this is disheartening. I can’t believe people are actually applauding and backing the denying of civil liberties! This is fucking BULLSHIT! Uneducated, selfish, racist fucking people! Don’t be one of those people!
I changed my avatar in honor of you sir, carmangary!

No one’s freedom is taken away. It’s no different than being stopped at a DUI checkpoint and being asked to show your driver’s license.

I beg to differ. Although the SCOTUS voted that sobriety checkpoints are constitutional it’s a very close call as to whether or not they violate the 4th Amendment, even the SCOTUS admits. The way that the legality of checkpoints is able to skirt the constitution is by stopping ALL cars at sobriety checkpoints. Now, if Arizona was to stop ALL people on the street or set up checkpoints at street corners, public buildings “und ask to zee dare paypaz” then they would be following the SCOTUS ruling.

So, gmrpy, what is your alternatice plan for dealing with this?

Make employers who hire illegal aliens accountable.

Microchip and track all white people.

It’s not nearly at Gestapo levels, people, and the only ones that are being outright hassled are the ones that A) are doing something wrong, or B) don’t sleep much and look like terrorists(i.e. me).

Still, fuck, man. Whatyagonndoo.

I’m sick and tired of people who are so afraid of hurting someones feelings that they just let everything else go to shit.

This times a fuckin’ million. Man, if I was runnin’ this bitch…

Ben Franklin

No way in Hell I’m talking politics with the first fireman!

Yeesh. Didn’t realize my experiencing a mundane aspect of American adulthood would be this profound over here at the Prongs.

A) is already covered in the 4th Amendment. It’s called “Probable Cause”.

As for B)…what exactly does a terrorist look like? Mullah Omar? The Saud Family? Timothy McVeigh? You tell me.

I really have a hard time believing that in practice this is going to become an issue worth complaining about.

Are you serious? This is so easily corruptible. So, what happens when you leave your papers at home? To what other country are they gonna take you? The Constitution guards against unreasonable searches and seizures, I can think of a few other things that are as unreasonable reasons to stop someone other than their skin color!

Will there be a fine? If there will be, I’m sure this will be one more way to keep a class of people poor. Left your papers at home? Pay your fine, instead of paying for groceries. What will the ratio be to those stopped and those not stopped when it comes to profiling? Why was Mexican A stopped while Canadian B was not? It’s law Sanctioned Racism! So, what? If your skin color is darker than khaki you get stopped and that’s perfectly acceptable?

I got stopped in Mexico by the cops for no other reason than because I was white. ( had 60 dollars taken directly out of my wallet right in front of me right on the street by those cops) That was BULLSHIT! I DO NOT WANT THAT here in America! If you want law enforcement able to stop people for skin color then take your ass to Mexico! They practice that shit down there …and you see how lovely it is down there don’t ya? Why are you trying to bring it here?

How loud are you gonna scream when Mexicans become the majority in law enforcement and start pulling that “lemme see your green card, Gringo!” Bullshit on White folk? You need to be able to see past yourself if you’re gonna help keep America the land of the Free.

Completing your tour doesn’t mean shit if you come back and implement the same laws that you swore to do away with.

It’s the same as how airport security increased after 9/11.

I take issue with that as well! I’m not a god damned terrorist and I resent being treated like one! There is no reason to stop me, there is no reason to stop anyone! If you have a good reason to stop someone then use that reason to stop them and leave the rest of us the hell alone! And BTW, having a turban on your head is also NOT a good reason to stop someone. Although, some Airports are private businesses so they can implement whatever security they want anything run by a government should obey the law of the land!

Does it really threaten your pursuit of happiness to have to take your shoes off as you go through the magic doorway now?

According to the Constitution, that we Americans have apparently have devalued…Yes, it threatens my pursuit of happiness! I am not a criminal and I resent being treated as such.

So, gmrpy, what is your alternatice plan for dealing with this?

I don’t know off hand for pedestrians, (although I’m completely with Wemp, you start hitting Employers for hiring illegals and you will see this shit dry up pretty quick!…) But what I can tell you is that this, THIS is wrong. Because I don’t have the “right answer” doesn’t mean that this wrong answer will suffice. At the very least how about NOT locking up border patrol agents for doing their job as they did in Texas a few years back.

You mentioned Border Patrol… but that’s like cops in a parking lot at a bar. Are you saying if you can sneak in your car it is OK to drive drunk? Yea man, just make it past the cops and the driving drunk is OK! Woo hoo!

Just because you don’t get caught doesn’t mean that it’s automatically legal! You can’t prevent everything, and so, if the cops don’t know and you have not given them any reason suspect anything, then they have no reason to pull you over. Doesn’t make it right it, just means you got lucky. At some point that person will break the law and you will be able to pop them for drunk driving as well as whatever law they broke…

I’m sick and tired of people who are so afraid of hurting someones feelings that they just let everything else go to shit.

It has nothing to do with hurt feelings!!! Do not change the premise of the argument! It has to do with the foresight to see what’s coming down the pipe for the rest of us! This doesn’t just affect “Colored” people! this effects my freedoms as well!

Y’all need to chill and be more like Duane.

Are illegals that much of a problem in the U.S.? Don’t Mexicans work their asses off to support themselves? Hell I tried to mow a few lawns in Chicago a few years ago and couldn’t get in edgeways with the dudes. I didn’t mind, they probably had families to support. And if gangs are a problem, well you get those with any ethnicity, illegal or not. In fact I think the best thing to do would be to allow in the dudes who will work and chuck out the useless fuckers [:P]
