Slash - for Grmpy

[i]Slash, the iconic, Grammy-winning rock guitarist and songwriter, has revealed the cover artwork and album title for his second studio album, APOCALYPTIC LOVE (Universal Music Canada), due out May 22. The new album, which Slash is currently putting the final touches on, features Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators and is the follow up to his platinum debut album, Slash (2010).

On APOCALYPTIC LOVE, Slash, along with and his bandmates Myles Kennedy (vocals), Brent Fitz (drums) and Todd Kerns (bass)–have teamed with producer Eric Valentine, who also produced the first solo album. All the songs were written together by Slash and Kennedy and cameras have been rolling throughout the entire making of the album.

Hey, Slash! 1986 called, it wants it’s crappy cliche douchebag album art back.

And the title . . . “Apocalyptic Love” . . . HOLY CRAP!!! Awful. Just awful.

If he uses a bunch of guest vocalists I’ll be quasi-interested in a handful of his tracks (he had some decent tunes on the last album).

But whoever chose this album name and art needs to get some back alley poonage from the guys in Trixter or something.

^ What he said.

Honestly Slash, just get over yourself.

Also, MJK.

Also, MJK.

hahaha.

don’t bring his evil vibes into this thread!

Awesome! thanks for the look out, mci. that was very gentlemanly of you

The cover Looks like a rejected L.A. Guns album cover.

As far as I’ve heard, the CD will be all Myles. which is fine by me, I like the myles tracks on solo album #1.

I’m sure title and album cover aside the first 3 seconds will shit all over merzbow’s entire catalogue.

They need a new Velvet Revolver vocalist bad…someone’s gotta make another G’N’R. In a good way.

Also, rumor is that the original line-up will all at least be at the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame induction. Whether or not they do anything remains to be seen.

Grumpy - Merzbow does the shitting around here. He has an collection in the Merz box called Merz Scat. It might be “shit” but at least he owns up to it.

I won’t even bother to listen to the Slash record, but good luck to him.

Trixter, HAHAHAAHAHAHA. So bad.

Don’t know if Stephen Pearcy still has the pipes but I always thought either him or the dude from Cinderella would easily replace Axl with their falsetto.

I didn’t say that for you. I’m sorry if I offended. That was totally directed at the Aussies… kinda trying to lure Amlux back into his crying game.

As far as you listening to slash or not it doesn’t pain me in the least that you don’t… but, in the immortal words of Wooderson, “it would be alot cooler if you did.” [cool]

I’ve not heard Pearcy lately but . . . . . IF he still has the pipes he’d be a great fit (though would probably be overlooked as the dudes continue to look for someone “hipper” or more “culturally relevant” to 2012.

As for Tom Kiefer (Cinderella) he got wrecked in the early 90’s. He developed nodules on his vocal cords and then had paralysis on them. He spent a number of years just learning how to sing again. They came back for some reunion shows around 2000-2002, but I don’t know if they sounded horrible or not. I really LOVED his voice as well as the whole band. They were a nice crusty bluesy hard rock metal act that, because they came out at the same time as a bunch of other “glam” acts and had a girly band name and dressed like a bunch of poncy foo foos got tossed to the side and forgotten along with the rest of the mid-80’s Sunset Strip rejects.

I’ll have to look up some Youtube clips for both Kiefer and Pearcy and see if they sound horrible or not.

wow i had no idea about the cinderella dude. Is that what pretty much ended cinderella?

Yeah. It was . . . . though this all happened around 93, 94 anyway, and Nirvana had already rung the death knell for most of the good-time 80’s “glam” metal scene anyway, so I can’t say they necessarily would have continued with any success, regardless.

Eh, it’s better than the Relapse cover.

<chuckle> It doesn’t take much.

In 1992, Spinderella appeared in the film Stay Tuned. That same year, she also had her first and only child, a daughter named Christy, with NBA basketball player Kenny Anderson. In 1996, she appeared in the film Kazaam which starred Shaquille O’Neal. She opened her own beauty salon on October 21, 1997, the same year that the group released their final album Brand New. After this album, she was to have released a solo album but this never materialized as Salt-N-Pepa’s record label, Red Ant, ceased operations. Her daughter Christy later appeared in an episode of My Super Sweet 16, throwing herself a party which included skaters and dancers.

Spinderella occasionally DJs at various club events around the United States.

Extra credit to Davelybob for the righteous KAZAAM reference.

Spinderella’s got a heckuva resume. Erie Load better watch his back . . .

Great laughs with all this hair metal talk. I have to admit that I liked Trixter when I was like 3 or 4. Same time I got that Nelson tape for either xmas or my bday.

Too bad about Tom Kiefer. My dad used to give me shit for liking a lot of that hair metal stuff but I still like a couple Cinderella songs. I think this was their last big hit.

As for Ratt, Stephen Pearcy rejoined and they put out an album a couple years ago. Got a pretty good review from what I remember.

I honestly don’t even know any song by Trixter and don’t know if I’ve ever even heard one. They’re just one of those bands that I always remember absolutely HATING solely because of their awful press photos, stupid name/logo, and horrible album covers. Since the first moment I saw them, I wanted to fight them. Same with EXTREME (of course Extreme’s music just made me hate them more).

Trixter . . . I mean . . . just look at these fagbots!

What’s interesting about bands like Trixter is that they showed up just as hair metal was transitioning to grunge. So they don’t actually look any different than Mother Love Bone or pre-fame Alice In Chains.
