I will definitely be at the Center Stage show in Atlanta. The tour name is kinda humorous too considering SPV their label is in bankruptcy proceedings right now. That sucks, but I am glad it is not affecting the new album release which should be in October, and this tour. Not sure if they will make it to Europe this time around though.

There’s actual news that the album is complete or near? The tour news is exciting though, especially the name they decided to give it - very old school. If we do infact get a new album in october, that’d be awesome. But I honestly doubt it.
I have found Skinny Puppy to be one of the hardest bands of all time to get into - which sounds odd coming from someone which such a high regard for ‘difficult’ music.
Don’t bother with Mythmaker. I consider that the absolute worst to ever come from either of those guys. But yeah, there’s a new album coming someday. More than likely hear something about it after the tour is over, or maybe if we’re lucky, during. Key said he’s taking the same production approach as he did with Remission, and 8-bit-ish. So yeah, i’m excited.
got a ticket to the NYC show, love the Nokia theatre, really really nice venue, plus Puppy gets to play in Times Square and has there pictures up on a big screen in NYC…how cool is that!?
Got tickets to the Nokia Theater show in LA. They’re always great live, even if the last couple albums haven’t been my favorites. The variety of stuff they play live is always great.
I don’t think I’ll bother with more Skinny Puppy - unless it’s so damn good that I can be convinced otherwise. I only like three or four Puppy albums in total.
I might see them in Charlotte since it is on a Friday. I am not much of a fan of them anymore, though, to be honest. I liked their real early danceable stuff but around Too Dark Park or so they lost my interest.
I can agree with that, the first 4 albums are the ones I keep going back to. Although the last 2 albums are very mixed bags for me the live shows have been great. The Mythrus tour especially I liked as they played as a 3 piece more like the old days.
Plus in the last few tours they have put songs like Glass Houses and Far Too Frail back into the set list after decades, and have added older songs like Tormentor, and Rodent that had never been played live before.

Just listen to ‘Too Dark Park’, ‘Last Rights’, then ‘The Process’. Judging from my perception of your tastes, I think those are the ones for you. They are the most experimental and abrasive, and the least dance-oriented.
‘The Process’ is a mixed bag. Really strange album. You can hear the tension that went into its creation. The overall sound reflects the different directions each person involved wanted to take it in. Ogre wanting to do Industrial Rock, cEvin and Dwayne wanting to do techno, the label trying to polish their sound and make them the next NIN etc. Makes for an interesting listen.
As a TG fan, you should check out ‘Puppy Gristle’. It is Skinny Puppy at their most experimental with Genesis P. Orridge doing an industrial jam.
Their new material is a mixed bag, as a lot of the worst qualities of Ogre’s side project OHGR tend to carry over into it. ‘Greater Wrong of the Right’ is a really strong album, but has a bit too much electronica in the sound, which is ironic because Dwayne was supposedly the one pushing for that direction the most before his overdose. I think ‘Mythmaker’ is pretty bad throughout except one or two tracks. The opening song in particular is god awful.
Let me guess, the thing you dislike most are Ogre’s uber goth vocal stylings? Well these guys lived that life and they are the real deal is all I can say on that. The sooner you get over it the better because they are a great band.
I have high hopes for this new album because I think the latest OHGR was pretty experimental and abrasive, and as I said the OHGR sound tends to carry into Skinny Puppy quit a bit.

Agreed, I didn’t have much faith in them after the last Puppy album (which is pretty dire except for that one nice track that sounds like Nature’s Revenge pt 2) but Ohgr’s latest solo album has really brought my hopes up. I think that’s the most experimental thing to come out of the Puppy camp since the Process era. I wasn’t really into Ohgr’s other solo albums either but the last one was top notch. Catchy and weird.
Excited to see a San Diego date listed, even if I’m sick of every single high profile industrial artist stuck booked at the House of Blues. Guess it works fine for the under 21 crowd, but the atmosphere really doesn’t blend well with the aesthetics of darker bands like Puppy, and then there’s the ticketmaster service charges. I’ll stop griping, no long drives for me [:)]
Saw the Mythrus tour. Great blend of the old and new. Ogre really pulled out all the stops. Only thing that annoyed me was the phantom guitar samples that I could look past until they started “Fascist Jock Itch” and given that song is all about the METAL, it was…distracting. Maybe Bill Morrison will join them this time. Also, what’s the skinny on Mark Walk’s absence on stage? He’s such a huge part of their sound now that it’s almost bizarre he wouldn’t join the live show.
Skinny Puppy could release the worst album of their career, and I still wouldn’t hesitate to catch them live - their performance is just too good to miss, and they always deliver a solid set list. That said, I’d love to hear “Addiction” this time around, it wasn’t played during the last two tours (in Tempe, anyway).
