Deftera - SLEEP are back?!?!?
Deftera - SLEEP are back?!?!?
Apparently they are doing some kind of reunion tour or a few shows in September 2010. I was looking into going to the ATP show where they will play all of Holy Mountain until I read it won’t be the only show.
Rumor has it Chris Hakius won’t be with them though, instead the drummer from Neurosis will be filling in.
guys… i went to the wild Atlanta show. I kept an eye out for you rev.
Yeah, I’d already spent a lot on concerts this fall. Need to save some dough.
Amazing show last night. Very good crowd, the theatre was full by the time SP hit the stage. Werewolf Grehv was unlistenable, just pure audio garbage for 40 minutes, not my thing. As previously mentioned, the sound is amazing on this tour. It was loud, but not noisy, the samples were easily heard and the drum mix was fantastic. “Assimilate” sent the crowd into a frenzy, it seemed like everyone was dancing to that one. Ogre was wrapped up in costume throughout the main set, then came out unmasked during the encore. The ‘new’ version of Addiction is cool, just more dancey than the original. Ogre’s vocals on “Rodent” were noticeably more like the Rabies version (his vocal FX were amazing throughout). The instrumental numbers were 2-3 minutes long, I thought that maybe they were new songs, and were very psychedelic, reminiscent of Spah Dirge. Ogre was smiling when he walked out for the last two songs, and seemed to be appreciative of the crowd noise, it was definitely an energy-filled room. Admission was only $25 at the door, what a bargain (better than any $50-60 show I’ve seen).
This had to be the most visually-colorful show of the past three tours. Not too many stage props, except for Ogre’s walker at the start of the show, and a cross constructed from two metal canes. At one point he was inside of a plexiglass booth, and there was fake blood splashed inside. During another song, he wore a cone on his head that was smoking from the top. Cevin Key was barely visible on his elevated synth stage, and there were four cascading screens hanging above him, which created a cool visual effect from the projections.
Here are some photos i took on my iPhone (slideshow):

Awesome snapshots, man. This makes me hate the brutal change-up of seasons all the more. Damn this shoddy immune system. I need another one.
