if anyone is interested, i took some decent quality videos of the show. here are some links!

…no need for captain URL this time

Nice videos Lord_of_Lard, this last tour was one of my favorites out of the 5 tours I’ve seen Puppy on. They played my most favorite songs of all time Deadlines, and Assimilate which had not been played in 20 years. Although it was sort of short compared to their other recent tours it ranked up there with the Too Dark Park show I saw back in 1990.

so … i’m confused. i thought ohgr was about to put something out. does SP have an album ready? have i missed someting? or maybe they’re still touring for the same album. yea… i’m thing outloud.

They’ve had a new album ‘in the works’ for years apparently.

Knowing the Puppy and how they operate, I wouldn’t expect a new one anytime soon.

The new album isn’t so much a “Puppy Problem” as it is a “Label Problem.” Their main label went out of business just as the album was finished. The label declared bankruptcy and the album is a type of asset for the label or something… hence Puppy naming the album “InSolvent See”

So when I decide to go to Greece for the summer… Skinny Puppy doesn’t tour there…

Tour started recently. Same setlist as the U.S., though Shore Lined Poison has made it to the list in lieu of Far Too Frail.

Cool.

What was the US set list?

What was the US set list?

Morpheus Laughing

is hi watt marshall doing his sound on this leg?

I really need to try harder to get into Skinny Puppy - get the feeling that there’s something I’m missing out on.

Trouble is, the music is so dense and hard to penetrate.

I’ll keep trying. I own Last Rights and Greater Wrong. Both are decent, but I’d definitely lean towards Greater Wrong. It’s more user friendly and kinder to the uninitiated.

I’ve always enjoyed cevin Key’s projects more than Skinny Puppy itself for some reason.

Think I’ll stock up on some Puppy on my next record buying jaunt.

I liked the mythmaker set list better. If only I could find it…

It’s mood music. Most of it sunk in for me while going to bed.

Too Dark Park and Last Rights have been the beginner for many, and it’s not that hard to get into. But they really are angry albums.

Try the earlier material first - much easier to penetrate.

Bites/Remission should get you going.

Key’s solo work is indeed more favourable.

I saw them last night at the Forum in London. It’s the first time I’ve seen them, and they didn’t dissapoint as a band, but, and this is a major fucking but, the sound was appalling. I know from seeing Ministry there a couple of years ago on the C U Latour that the sound is bad there, but there was no excuses for last night. I’ll never go there again to see a band play. All distorted bass and mud. I didn’t even recognise half the songs, the melodies were buried and the vocals kept on going too fucking loud. annoying. Luckily it improved somewhat for the last three songs, two of which were assimilate and warlock, so at least it ended on a high. oh, and it didn’t appear to be sold out - there were more people at the ministry show. weird.

fyi the set list was similar, if not the same to the US one.

reading back my last post it seems i didn’t enjoy it much, but i did. it was quite hypnotic and engaging. it just would have been better at venue with a decent sound system.

The last time they played at the Astoria in 2007, the sound was far superior I thought. A shame the Astoria is gone now though.

I also had to miss ‘Shore Lined Poison’ because of the sunday trains, which is one of my favourite tracks. [:(]

I started with Rabies. Mostly because I found out Jourgensen was heavily involved on that album. Its a bit heavier than most of what they put out but its still one of my fav albums. Mind: The Perpetual Intercourse is another classic by them
